..even if it's on the tip of their tongue, just one time, Hare Kṛṣṇa. Everyone, say Hare Kṛṣṇa. So, if someone one time says Hare Kṛṣṇa, then you have to say, "Oh, this person—they've already gone through law school and they've graduated," because they've come to this level. They've been able to say Hare Kṛṣṇa even one time, even just a little bit chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. In the commentary of the verse, our Ācāryas talk about how all reformation takes place by chanting of The Holy Name. There are two points—more than two points, but one is that if somebody's chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, we can understand that they've already made this huge progress. So, like if you go in the court and you see your friend as a judge, then you can understand, "Yeah, he went to law school, he's already been there." And the other point is that if you chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, then you'll be elevated to the highest position just by chanting. So, what we're doing here by taking time to associate, as Bhagavat Āśraya Prabhu so articulately pointed out with our best friend, then we become transformed. We're elevated by the chanting of the holy name. Also, we can appreciate that anybody who has the inkling to do such a thing, or even just to say Hare Kṛṣṇa—like the people last night who were stopping at the Harinām, and they just stop and they go, "Hare Kṛṣṇa"—these people are exalted souls. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that if one time I hear somebody say Hare Kṛṣṇa, then I can understand they're the best out of the whole population. So, we can reform ourselves. We can rise to a position where we can control our senses, where we can love Kṛṣṇa, where we can taste the nectar of life, just by engaging in heartfelt and regular practice, or even if it's not heartfelt—even if it's just dutiful chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa every day. For as long as Jeffrey Morgan can remember, he's lived in survival mode. His earliest memories are dominated by family violence, gambling, and alcoholism - so at just 12 years old, Jeff decided he'd be safer on the streets than under his own roof. What followed were years of having to fend for himself, and although he never wanted to hurt anyone, crime became a 'habit' for Jeff and his crew. At 37 years old, sitting in a jail cell, Jeff decided that he'd had enough. He transformed his life, and today is serving his community through his mindset coaching and leadership programs. In this episode, he shares his inspiring life story. Recorded Oct. 9, 2024Astronomers have now discovered thousands of planets in orbit around other stars. Dr. Weintraub discusses those discoveries, and predicts the progress astronomers are likely to make in their more detailed studies of these planets over the next fifty years. Then he considers the consequences of those potential discoveries for Roman Catholicism, Mainline Protestantism, Christian Creationism, Seventh Day Adventism, Judaism, Islam, and Hinduism -- for all of which the discovery of a planet with life on it may be profound. These thoughts are based on the writings of key religious leaders on this topic -- in the past and in our times.Dr. David A. Weintraub is Professor of Astronomy Emeritus at Vanderbilt University where he founded and directed the Communication of Science and Technology program, and conducted research on the formation of stars and planets. His most recent book is The Sky is for Everyone: Women Astronomers in Their Own Words (2022; with Virginia Trimble). Previous books include Religions and Extraterrestrial Life: How Will We Deal With It? (2014), Life on Mars: What to Know Before We Go (2018), How Old is the Universe? (2010), and Is Pluto a Planet? (2006). He also created the Who Me? series of inspirational scientific autobiographies for fifth-grade level readers (from World Scientific Publishing), which helps young people see themselves as scientists.

This week, I talk about personal values - what they are and why they are important to remember, not only when it comes to our money, but for every aspect of our lives. I share my thoughts on how it's not so simple to live according to our values everyday (I wish it was), so we just do the best we can, while staying true to ourselves. Link to Personal Values exercise I referenced: Personal Values Exercise ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you interested in working 1:1 with me? I'm now officially a Certified Money Coach (CMC)® where I work with you to create greater balance, a higher consciousness and help you transform your relationship with money. This goal of this work is to guide you to a deeper understanding of the unconscious beliefs and patterns we carry that create stress and fear and hold us back from living the life that you want. You can book a quick 15-minute call here so I can learn more about you and your goals for the program. I'm so excited to be able to connect with you on a deeper level and help you discover what's blocking you from living the life you really want.
"I go and meet with my branch president. Just the nicest, goofiest, happiest person. I just felt so comfortable. I knew this guy loved me. He's not going to judge me. I went in and I confessed everything. I told him I messed up, but I wanted to go to the temple. I remember he said, 'Nate, you've confessed and you've forsaken. You are forgiven. But what's most important now is you need to forgive yourself.' That was the hardest part. I remember thinking 'God, if you could forgive me, maybe I can forgive myself' because I just felt so bad. I had missed so many opportunities to do good things. I messed up - I messed up really bad. And I didn't love myself. I remember after that meeting just thinking, 'I did it! I let it go, I let it go! I was able to do it with president Donnelly's help!' I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and if He was willing to pay the price to die for me, then I can have the courage to let it go. I can let my ego go and it's all on Him. So when I walked out of that office I remember just feeling like, yes! I felt so free, just so clean and happy and light." David Morgan: How Bad Could Inflation Get, & How To Navigate Your Life Around It Over the past few years we've lived through a wave of inflation that has left even the understated CPI up 21.7% since 2020. And while the rate of increase has slowed down, it's still not back to the Fed's 2% mandate, and they're already lowering interest rates aggressively. Factor in that the debt and interest continue to pile up (to the degree that even Jamie Dimon is warning about it now), and there's a good chance there's more inflation coming in our future. But how bad will it actually get? Is it possible that our political leaders could actually keep borrowing or printing until we actually reach a hyperinflation at some point in the US? David Morgan of The Morgan Report joins me on the show to talk about what he expects, what's happened in some other cases of extreme inflation, but perhaps most importantly, some simple strategies that you can begin implementing now at little cost to be prepared to navigate whatever level of inflation we get in the future. Mari Llewellyn is the founder of Bloom Nutrition, a health supplement company designed to help everyone bloom into their best selves. Although she is now a renowned expert, serial entrepreneur, and influencer in the health and fitness industry, her journey wasn't always this way.During her college years, Mari weighed 250 pounds and was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. This marked the lowest point in her life. Realizing that something had to change, she turned to fitness, which became her passion. This journey ultimately planted the seed for what would eventually become her company, Bloom Nutrition. In her early days of getting healthy, she walked into a GNC and noticed that most products were geared toward men. In response, she and her husband launched Bloom in 2019 to fill that gap. Fast forward to today, Bloom ships over 100,000 orders a month and is the top-selling greens powder on Amazon, amassing more than 100 million views on TikTok each month. In this episode, Mari shares her story from growing up and hitting rock bottom in college to dropping out and completely transforming her life. We dive into how she lost 90 pounds and the critical role nutrition played in improving her mental and physical well-being. Mari also discusses how a single Instagram post, when she had just 900 followers, sparked the growth of her brand and community. Although she didn't plan on becoming an entrepreneur, her passion for sharing her story led her to start a business selling PDF fitness guides, which later expanded to resistance bands from her dad's attic.Mari gives a behind-the-scenes look at launching Bloom, covering challenges like product pivots, rejections from retailers like Target and Walmart, and how they eventually succeeded. As we conclude our summer series, “Life Around The Table,” we reflect on how this symbol of connection has been part of our daily lives. Last week, we discussed the importance of showing up even during tough times. Today, we explore how the early church centered their community around the table, defined by fellowship, shared meals, and collective prayers, rather than worship style, pastoral personalities, or location. Feeling like you don't belong can be a lonely experience, where no matter where you go, it seems hard to truly connect with others. It can feel isolating, as if there's an invisible barrier between you and the people around you. This sense of disconnection can be difficult to shake, even in familiar places or with close acquaintances. Sean Corcoran is a powerful voice in the pro-life movement. After a devastating abortion decision at 18 sent him spiraling into substance abuse, Sean found the strength to turn his life around and become a successful lawyer. Today, Sean shares his powerful personal story of overcoming addiction, the impact of an unplanned pregnancy and abortion, and his journey to becoming a leader in the pro-life movement through his work with the nonprofit organization Men for Life. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond! Quotes: “95% of biologists and geneticists, most of whom are pro-choice, agree that human life starts at conception. This means that it's not just your body; it is a human body and another human being.'” – Sean Corcoran “Never really having tight connections—I think that lack of connection led to a lot of difficulties for me.” – Sean Corcoran “The purpose is to initiate thought, to provoke critical thinking. If we can provoke thought, then maybe down the line, it will lead to change.” – Sean Corcoran “Your confidence in knowing something breeds patience. It's a byproduct of that confidence.” – Matt Beaudreau Takeaways: Reflect on how instability and lack of belonging in your childhood may have impacted your ability to form deep connections later in life. Consider how you can create more stability and a sense of community for the young people in your life. Recognize the importance of having tough conversations with your children about sensitive topics like sex, drugs, and alcohol. Open communication can help prepare them for the challenges they may face. If you have a loved one struggling with addiction, set firm boundaries and refuse to enable their destructive behavior. Provide support, but make it clear you will not participate in or cover up their addiction. Challenge the common pro-choice arguments around "bodily autonomy" and "healthcare" by highlighting the scientific consensus that abortion ends a human life. Be prepared to have thoughtful, nuanced discussions on this complex issue. Seek out opportunities to share your personal story in a way that inspires and empowers others. Your vulnerability can plant seeds of change and help those who feel alone in their struggles. Conclusion: Instability, lack of belonging, and unresolved trauma can profoundly shape an individual's life trajectory. These factors can create lasting challenges that impact personal growth and well-being. Addressing them early is crucial for fostering resilience and a healthier path forward.

"A lot of people hear my story and they're like, wow, you used heroin? Like what programs did you go through? And with my story, I'm not recommending this to people that have true addictions, but the gospel was my recovery. It really was. I'm not saying to just read your scriptures and you're fine. Seek professional help, go to AA, NA -- there's all these amazing programs. But for me, I didn't do that stuff. I went back to church. I engulfed myself in the gospel. There's a quote by Elder Packer, he says: studying the gospel will change behavior faster than a study of behavior can change behavior. I'm living proof of that. Again, not saying everybody should do that, but that was my recovery. God can change you. I'm a changed person because of God and Jesus Christ and the gospel. And I am so grateful." A recent survey found that almost 15% of Americans have co-bought a home with someone other than a romantic partner, and almost half said they’d consider it. This is part of a larger trend — many Americans are choosing to structure their lives around friends as opposed to a spouse or romantic partner. On the show today, Rhaina Cohen, author of “The Other Significant Others: Reimagining Life with Friendship at the Center,” explains what it really means to build your life around friends and the financial costs and benefits that come with it. Plus, how the LGBTQ+ community has shaped the conversation around the issue. Then, we’ll unpack what baby boomers’ retirement readiness says about the wealth gap in the United States. And, the endless possibilities for crab emojis and why our intern, Thalia, was wrong about her curly hair. Here’s everything we talked about today: “Why more people are buying houses with their friends” from Axios “What If Friendship, Not Marriage, Was at the Center of Life?” from The Atlantic “Inflation Widens Married Couples' Money Lead Over Their Single Friends” from The Wall Street Journal “Want financial security in America? Better get married.” from Vox “Two Women Redefine What it Means to Marry Your Best Friend” from The New York Times “If you can’t stay indoors during this US heat wave, here are a few ideas” from AP News “Northeast Heat Wave 2024: This Is a Disaster. Treat It That Way” from Bloomberg “US Retirement Accounts Are Flush for Millions of Older Americans” from Bloomberg We love to hear from you. Here is a business story, that is really a humanitarian story, but overall is an incredible story of drive I believe you'll be inspired and equipped by. The story would make a great movie, and since my guest actually roomed with Matt Damon in college, it just might become one. James Rhee's parents migrated to America from Korea. James was driven to excel and please his parents, so he got into Harvard. But he really wanted to teach, so he then taught high school for a couple years. Some of his most rewarding years he says. But then he went back to Harvard and graduated from law school. But he realized he didn't want to be a lawyer so he became an investment banker. He did well, but realized he didn't want to do that either. So he worked in private equity. He did well. Very well. He appreciated helping businesses, but didn't like how disconnected he was from everything. So he quit and didn't know what to do. Then he ends up in an unlikely place - as CEO of Ashley Stewart, a fashion retailer that served plus-size, predominantly middle- and lower-income Black women. And the company was at its end. The death knell had sounded. James came in for what was supposed to be six months because he felt an obligation to help. He ended up there for seven years with a miracle turnaround story that he's now described in a book called Red Helicopter: Lead Change With Kindness. You'll hear a very personal story of James' drive, from healthy to unhealthy. You'll hear about how Ashley Stewart went from death to stardom because it became a place and brand of belonging, not fashion. You'll hear how success came, not from communication, but connection. And most of all you'll hear how goodwill is the bridge to not only wild success, but abiding joy. Today James Rhee teaches at Howard University, MIT Sloan School of Management, and Duke Law School. His TED Talk and Dare to Lead interview with Brené Brown have reached millions. It was an honor to spend a couple hours with him and as you'll hear at the end of the show we're planning a t-shirt campaign together to advocate for the “analog life!” Head to airdoctorpro.com and use promo code KEVIN and depending on the model receive UP TO 39% off or UP TO $300 off! In this aggressive conversation, Rhaina discusses the importance of friendships in ancient cultures, what kids can teach us about making friends, why men are at a disadvantage, and why proximity to friends matters.
