Today we discuss a couple of homelessness bills state Republicans are pushing forward, such as Roseville's Josh Hoover's push to make it illegal for just about anyone to sleep just about anywhere in a city or town in California. We also take a moment for Robin Swanson, a conservative Democratic operative from East Sacramento who is quoted in the above story, and who appears to be pushing for some truly fascist policies against our unhoused neighbors. We highly recommend a scroll through her tweets the last couple days: https://twitter.com/robin_swanson/with_replies Is Robin really a concerned mother, or is she running a public campaign to rally folks for a challenger against Sacramento's current District 4 incumbent? One cannot trust these operatives. Finally, we host a reading series on a baffling Fresno Bee editorial that tell us nothing and everything all at once. Did you have a lot of trick or treaters? Jackie in East Sac said she had 2,000!! How do you even buy for that many? Both Pat and Tom had very few BUT they've come up with an idea on how to fix it. Three little trick or treaters that hit Pat's house were amazed at getting full sized candy bars and one of them, a 3 year old, had a great take. Orangevale's Devin Dawson is doing a really cool thing to help education in music and if you're gonna throw a beer during a parade make sure it doesn't hit anything....like a priceless trophy!
Taco Bell was just named America's favorite mexican restaurant. There are many terrific local Mexican restaurants. Tom is finding out that there a a lot of people who hate Prius drivers. Hear his reaction and what other people think. And Pat has an idea for a special car show in East Sac.
Scott Lay is the author of The Nooner, the premiere newsletter for goings on in California Politics and Policy. Through The Nooner, Scott Lay informs his readers on important issues in California politics and policy. By his own admission, Lay is not a straight-up journalist. He editorializes, creates conversations, and brings the capitol community closer together by infusing his writing with a human touch. Because he is not confined by the title “journalist” Lay is also able to exert influence on the process, by using his platform and impressive readership to bring issues to light which might not otherwise be covered. Lay is also the former CEO of the Community College League of California, where he served for close to 25 years and is an alumni of the UC Davis Hastings school law.
