The Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission meeting on June 4, 2026, was dominated by a pivotal discussion regarding the FY 2026-27 preliminary budget, characterized by the challenge of declining cable franchise revenue and the vital community role of local access channels.   The Fiscal Reality: Declining Revenues Executive Director Sean Ayala reported a 13% year-over-year drop in cable revenue, with a high-end projection that reductions could reach 20% in the coming year. General Fund: The Commission has a carry-forward balance of approximately $6.06million. Recommended expenditures for the 2026−27 year total roughly $5.27 million, which includes funding for "Metro" operations ($3.2million)and channel license requests($1.8 million). PEG (Public, Education, and Government) Funds: This fund, restricted to capital and equipment costs, faces a deficit. While requests total $4.22 million, only $2.04 million is currently available in carry-forward. Staff expects future quarterly payments of approximately $1.2 to $1.4 million to eventually cover these encumbered costs. Public Testimony: The Value of Community Media Sixteen public comments were received, largely in support of full funding for channel licensees like Access Sacramento, SECCC (Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium), KVIE, and SackLife TV. Community Impact: Speakers highlighted personal stories of how these stations provide workforce development, youth media training, and a platform for underserved voices, such as the immigrant and disability communities. Member Agency Concerns: Conversely, the City of Sacramento's Finance Director expressed concerns over budget assumptions and the fact that member agencies are currently receiving zero distributions from the franchise fees. Major Action: The Four-Step "Path Forward" Recognizing the "competing interests" between maintaining community programming and fiscal responsibility to member agencies, Chair proposed a compromise that avoids a binary choice of approving or cutting the budget. The Commission unanimously approved a four-step plan: Adopt the FY 2026-27 Budget as Drafted: This ensures operational continuity for the commission and licensees in the immediate term. Establish a Finance Working Group: A voluntary group of finance staff from member agencies (such as Elk Grove and Sacramento) will be convened to validate revenue assumptions, salary increases, and pension contributions. Budget Ad Hoc Committee: This committee will review the working group's findings and present potential budget amendments to the full commission by September 3, 2026. Strategic Ad Hoc Committee: A separate group will evaluate the long-term operating model, governance, and revenue-sharing methodology, returning with recommendations by March 4, 2027. Licensee and Administrative Reports Channel Successes: Licensees reported on new initiatives, including Access Sacramento's focus on the creative economy, SECCC's documentaries on local educational history, and SackLife TV's Emmy-nominated podcasts on human trafficking and community spotlights. New Contracts: Metro Cable expanded its coverage to include meetings for SCAS (Sacramento County Animal Services) and the Disaster Council. The meeting concluded with a call for transparency and collaboration, with the Chair emphasizing that while revenue is declining, the Commission will solve the problem "with vigor" and "respect" for all stakeholders.

Episode 122 Tanner Sharp    On April 4, 2010, twenty four year old Tanner Sharp left his sister Sommer's home in Elk Grove, CA where he had been staying and drove off in his Maroon 1994 Saturn. His family never saw him again. Tanner had told family he was heading back to Kansas where he was originally from, and that a friend had lined up a job for him. Tanner soon texted Sommer saying he had made it to Kansas, but despite his text, it soon became apparent that he may have never left California. Tanner's family reported him missing, and it didn't take long for clues indicated that Tanner may have been in the remote farming town of Galt, CA about 15 miles from Elk Grove. On December 30th, 2010, eight months after he vanished, Tanner's car was found in a water filled ravine close to Galt. There was no sign of Tanner, or his belongings, and he remains missing to this day. Tanner's sister Sommer discusses Tanner's frustrating disappearance in this episode. Tanner Sharp is described as a White male standing 5ft10 and weighing 160 pounds. He has Brown hair and Hazel eyes. He has a two-inch scar on his right knee. His left ear is pierced. When he was last seen, Tanner was wearing A gray shirt, blue jeans, black shoes and a silver hoop earring. If you have information about Tanner Sharp, please contact the Galt Police Department at 209-366-7000 For more information, please visit Tanner's Namus page or his Facebook page.  To listen to every episode of Missing Persons early, and ad-free, and get other benefits, simply  visit our channel page on Apple Podcasts to get started with an AbJack Insider subscription.  Follow us on social media; https://linktr.ee/missingpersonspodcast   ©2026 AbJack Entertainemt- All rights reserved. The Sacramento Public Library Authority Board of Directors met on May 28, 2026, to discuss the upcoming fiscal year budget, major challenges in library collection services, and several community milestones.   Friends of the Sacramento Public Library Update   Devon Graves, Vice President of the Friends of the library, reported a highly successful Big Day of Giving, which raised approximately $120,000, significantly exceeding the original $85,000 goal. He also highlighted the success of the "Booked-in" facility, which serves as a community hub for students and seniors. An "All Friends" meeting is scheduled for June 28, 2026, at the Carmichael Library.   Collection Services and Vendor Crisis   Michelle Gordon Hartman, Collection Services Department Manager, provided a "pull back the curtain" look at the massive administrative challenges caused by the sudden closure of Baker & Taylor, formerly the library's primary book vendor. Logistical Chaos: The library had to cancel and reorder tens of thousands of items and quickly onboard new vendors like Brodart and Ingram to ensure opening day collections for new branches were not delayed. Processing Complexity: The board learned about the intensive labor required for every item, including assigning call numbers, applying RFID tags, and creating complex bibliographic records. Digital Trends: Digital circulation is growing rapidly and is expected to break 5 million circulations this fiscal year. However, digital materials are significantly more expensive; for example, a $30 physical book can cost $80 in digital format and often comes with a limited two-year license. Operational Highlights and Construction Executive Director Peter announced that the library received an Epic Award for its new branding. He also highlighted the kickoff of the Summer Reading program on May 30th at Tahoe Park, featuring the theme "Read Freely". Construction projects for the Martin Luther King, North Sacramento Hagginwood, and Elk Grove libraries remain on schedule, with staff currently outfitting the King branch.   Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget   The Board approved the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes $65.3 million in revenues and $69.3 million in expenditures. Deficit and Diversions: The budget reflects a $4 million net use of fund balance. This is largely attributed to a $2 million diversion by the City of Sacramento to fund construction projects and a $1.1 million structural deficit on the city's side. Measure E: Approved by voters in 2024, Measure E provides a stable property tax revenue stream that consolidates previous measures and is adjusted based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Staffing Changes: The budget includes a net reduction of 3 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) positions. While 10 full-time positions were added, 13 limited-term library assistant positions were eliminated due to city budget constraints. Future Concerns   The Board discussed long-term sustainability, noting that maintaining 12 branches within the City of Sacramento may become problematic after 2029-2030 if structural deficits persist. Directors engaged in a robust debate regarding the use of Economic Uncertainty Reserves, which are currently maintained at 17% for the city and 35% for the county. While the library is currently meeting its reserve requirements, members requested future policy discussions on how to handle potential "harder cut scenarios" if economic conditions do not improve.

On the morning of December 2, 2025, a mother at work checked the surveillance camera in her Elk Grove home and saw her eleven-year-old son lying motionless on the floor. Officers from the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the 7600 block of Ferrell Way and found Mar Aris Untalan Morales with multiple stab wounds. The boy was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His father, Marvin Morales, was gone.THE SUSPECT:Marvin Morales was a Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputy from 2017 until his forced resignation in February 2024. His career unraveled on October 24, 2023, when fellow deputies found him unresponsive on the floor of a restroom at the Central Division station. Body camera footage captured deputies administering Narcan to revive him from what turned out to be a fentanyl overdose. The internal investigation that followed revealed Morales had confiscated narcotics from citizens during field stops, then kept them for personal use. He admitted to taking a methamphetamine pipe home and smoking the residue three to four times over four months, claiming the drugs gave him the energy he needed to write reports. On the day he collapsed, he had seized fentanyl from a suspect and smoked it in the station bathroom while still in full uniform.THE AFTERMATH:Morales resigned in February 2024 ahead of his termination and was subsequently decertified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office released over four hundred pages of internal investigation documents, photographs, and body camera video detailing his drug use, evidence tampering, and dishonesty. Sheriff Jim Cooper called it a horrible embarrassment for the department.THE CRIME:Less than two years after his firing, Morales was watching his two children at the family home in Elk Grove when he fatally stabbed his eleven-year-old son. A six-year-old girl was also in the home at the time but was not physically harmed. She was later evaluated at a hospital and released to her mother.THE PURSUIT:After the stabbing, Morales fled in his vehicle. Law enforcement agencies across Sacramento County were alerted and spotted him driving southbound on Interstate 5. A pursuit ensued at speeds exceeding one hundred miles per hour. Near the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 12, Morales stopped his vehicle and, according to deputies on scene, produced what appeared to be a rifle and pointed it toward officers. Multiple officers from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and other agencies fired, striking Morales. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The California Department of Justice opened an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.CURRENT STATUS:The Elk Grove Police Department Investigations Bureau continues to lead the homicide investigation into the death of Mar Aris Untalan Morales.Learn more about this case at https://www.mythsandmalice.com/show/obscura/Support Obscura: https://www.patreon.com/obscuracrimepodcast/Our Sponsors:* Check out BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.com* Check out Chime: https://chime.com/OBSCURA* Check out Mood and use my code OBSCURA for a great deal: https://mood.com* Check out Quince: https://quince.com/OBSCURA* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code OBSCURA20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/obscura-a-true-crime-podcast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Sun, Nov 9 4:39 AM → 5:37 AM Elk Grove Police Pursuit November 8 2025At approximately 839 p.m. Elk Grove Police officers initiated a pursuit of a 2016 silver Chevrolet license plate 7XTY152 in connection with a reported theft at Ulta Beauty 7431 Laguna Blvd. The vehicle which contained multiple suspects led officers on a high-speed pursuit lasting over an hour at times reaching speeds exceeding 90 mph and spanning at least three counties Sacramento Yolo and Solano.Elk Grove Police remained the primary agency requesting assistance from the California Highway Patrol CHP after the suspects entered Highway 50. Police helicopter assistance was also available for the majority of the pursuit. The pursuit route began with the suspects traveling through Elk Grove eventually entering northbound Highway 99 then merging onto Highway 50 westbound and later transitioning to I-5 southbound. The suspects repeatedly entered and exited I-5 north and south through Sacramentos Pocket area circling local neighborhoods before ultimately committing to northbound I-5 once again. From there they merged onto westbound Highway 50 continuing toward Davis on I-80. The pursuit extended west past Davis and into Solano County before being transferred to CHP and other assisting agencies due to the increasing distance from Elk Groves jurisdiction. At that point radio traffic on OpenMHZ was no longer available so the final outcome remains unknown.Elk Grove officers authorized a PIT maneuver and attempted to deploy spike strips but neither tactic was successful as the suspects did not encounter the strips and no PIT was executed. At various points officers also temporarily terminated the pursuit and downgraded to surveillance mode in an effort to encourage the suspects to stop voluntarily but none of these efforts were effective and the suspects continued to flee.During the chase at approximately 853 p.m. one passenger attempted to bail from the vehicle near Stockton Boulevard and Orange Avenue. The fleeing individual re-entered the vehicle shortly afterward and the pursuit resumed. A few minutes later at approximately 856 p.m. a passenger fled on foot near an apartment complex in the area of 66th Avenue and Stockton Boulevard. The individual was described as a Black male adult wearing black clothing with a medium build approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and around 30 years old. The suspect vehicle later struck two parked cars near the 6001 Riverside apartment complex. Radio Systems: - Sacramento Regional Radio Communications System

This is a chilling account of an attachment haunting — not a ghost bound to place, but something that has latched onto a person. From childhood “sensitive” playmates to a black, basketball-sized orb that leapt at her face at nineteen, to the mornings in Elk Grove when a raw, guttural scream ripped in her ear the instant she reached for her phone — the pattern is relentless. She moves into an apartment, invites a roommate, and the phenomena escalate: growling dogs fixated on one patch of ceiling, closet lights turning on without touch, faucets switching to shower with no hands involved, and fresh, shallow scratches appearing on her skin like signatures left by something unseen. This is a real haunting that infects daily routine and privacy. We explore the terrifying breadcrumbs: the bed that shakes hard enough to knock her sideways, a roommate who sees a light under a door that should be dark, and a dog that becomes guardian and witness. It's the kind of haunting that erodes life quietly — seizing bedrooms, splitting households, and turning sanctuary into quarantine. Is it a poltergeist, a parasitic entity feeding on fear, or a misunderstood spirit seeking connection? Or worse — has something chosen her as its host? #TrueGhostStory #AttachmentHaunting #HauntedPerson #RealHaunting #Paranormal #HauntedApartment #ShadowEntity #Poltergeist #HauntedHouse #CreepyEncounters #TheUnexplained #UnexplainedPhenomena Love real ghost stories? Some people grow up knowing they're not alone. For her, it started in childhood—voices in empty rooms, the sense of eyes at her back. At nineteen came the first direct encounter: a pitch-black, basketball-sized sphere perched at the corner of her bed. It didn't drift. It jumped—hard—slamming the bed into the headboard and scattering objects. “A nightmare,” her father said. But beds don't launch themselves. That's when the lifelong haunting began. Years passed. Activity ebbed, then surged. Nightmares left her soaked in sweat, heart racing, details erased—only terror remained. Last July, she moved to a quiet one-bedroom in Elk Grove, California, hoping for calm. Instead, a new ritual: each morning as she rolled to silence her alarm on the nightstand, a bloodcurdling scream blasted into her ear—as if someone shrieked inside her head. When she started keeping the phone in the bed, the screaming stopped. Coincidence… or response? This isn't a house story. It follows her. Not EMF meters and easy answers—just a pattern of intelligent responses, physical marks, and a protector that won't cross the threshold. One entity or many? Mimic, parasite, shadow that learned her routines? The evidence points to a relentless, personal haunting—one that screams through alarms, marks skin, shakes beds… and waits. #TrueGhostStory #RealHaunting #HauntedHouse #GhostCaughtOnCamera #ParanormalActivity #ShadowPeople #CreepyEncounters #UnexplainedMysteries #ElkGrove #Poltergeist #DogSeesGhosts #ScaryStory Love real ghost stories? The Gospel Begins: A Call to Transformation | Mark 1:1-3

Resolute Podcast

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. We are in a brand new book of the Bible. Go to the website and grab the Scripture Journal for this study so you can study along with us. Shout out today to Fred Jackson, from Elk Grove, CA, and his bride, who listen every day. I met Fred recently at the Men of Honor Conference at Creekside Church, and he came up and introduced himself, confessing that he had put together that the guy he had been listening to every day was standing on the stage! I love it. Today, we're looking at Mark 1:1-3: The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,'” — Mark 1:1-3 Everything changes with the arrival of the gospel. It isn't just news—it's history in the making. Mark opens his account with a statement that turns everything upside down: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." These aren't just the first words of a book—they are the first words of hope for the entire world. Jesus didn't just arrive; He was sent with a purpose. The gospel has always been part of God's plan. Mark goes on to show us that this wasn't a random event. It was the fulfillment of centuries-old prophecies. The messenger—John the Baptist—was sent to prepare the way. But preparation isn't just about getting things ready on the outside; it's about making our hearts ready for Jesus. John's call to make straight paths for the Lord is a challenge for us today. Is your heart prepared? Are you ready to receive the gospel, or are there roadblocks and distractions in the way? The gospel doesn't just come to inform; it comes to transform. The question isn't just whether we've heard the gospel—it's whether we've allowed it to reshape our lives. The starting point for all of this is simple: Jesus is the Son of God, and he's here to change everything. This isn't just a story about someone else's faith. This is a call to action for us. The question is: How are you preparing the way for Jesus in your life? Maybe it's time to clear out some clutter, repent of old habits, or make space for God to move in new ways. John the Baptist's message wasn't just for those in the wilderness—it's for us, too. Prepare your heart for the Lord, and let the gospel change you. #PrepareTheWay #GospelTransformation #HeartOfRepentance ASK THIS: What are the "roadblocks" in your life that prevent you from fully receiving the gospel? How can you prepare your heart today for Jesus to transform your life? Is there any area of your life that needs repentance to make room for God? How does the message of John the Baptist challenge your current relationship with God? DO THIS: Clear the clutter from your life and heart to make space for Jesus to move in new ways. PRAY THIS: Lord, I open my heart to you today. Clear the path and make my heart ready to receive the transformative power of your gospel. Amen. PLAY THIS: Prepare The Way.

He shares his journey in leadership over the past three years, focusing on creating a culture of ministering that avoids shame and fosters genuine relationships. Garth emphasizes the need for leaders to model ministering behaviors rather than simply assigning tasks, advocating for a supportive environment where members feel empowered to engage in meaningful connections. He outlines three key principles for effective ministering: praying for those they serve, communicating with them, and genuinely loving and serving them. Garth also addresses the challenges of ministering in today's society, where social interactions can feel awkward and disconnected. To combat these challenges, Garth introduced the concept of "ministering night," held every fourth Sunday, where members are invited to visit families together. This initiative not only encourages participation but also helps build relationships in a low-pressure setting. Garth shares inspiring stories from these visits, illustrating how simple interactions can lead to meaningful connections and a renewed sense of community. He emphasizes the importance of agency, reminding listeners that while they can invite and support others, ultimately it is up to individuals to choose their paths. The episode concludes with a call to action for leaders to focus on love and service, fostering a culture of ministering that reflects the teachings of Christ. 04:39 - Garth's Background and Current Role 06:09 - Cultural Disconnect in Ministering 07:03 - Building a Culture of No Shame 10:42 - Principles of Ministering: Overview 17:14 - Three Key Principles of Ministering 23:14 - Serving When Help is Not Obvious 27:27 - Understanding Agency in Ministering 30:20 - The Importance of Personal Experience 34:00 - Avoiding Shame in Leadership 38:03 - Strategies for Effective Ministering 42:00 - Implementing Ministering Night 47:37 - Logistics of Ministering Night Visits The award-winning Leading Saints Podcast is one of the top independent Latter-day Saints podcasts as part of nonprofit Leading Saints' mission to help Latter-day Saints be better prepared to lead. On September 9th, United States prosecutors announced the indictment and arrest of two leaders of the so-called “Terrogram Collective.” This is an online community of accelerationist neo-nazis which the DOJ called “a transnational terrorist group.” The indictment charges Dallas Humber, 34, of Elk Grove, California, and Matthew Allison, 37, of Boise, Idaho with 15 crimes. They include soliciting hate crimes, soliciting the murder of federal officials, and conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. If convicted of all charges, Humber and Allison each face a maximum penalty of 220 years in prison. This group has produced propaganda that encourages their fellow white supremacists to venerate murderers and violently attack Black, immigrant, LGBT, and Jewish people. The screeds have directly inspired a series of ideologically motivated attacks around the world. These include a 2022 mass shooting at a gay bar in Slovakia; successful attacks on power infrastructure in North Carolina; and a stabbing spree in Turkey. To help better understand Terrorgram, the arrests, and the history of Dallas Humber we spoke to Abner Hauge and Michael Boorman from Left Coast Right Watch, the publication that first identified Humber as a driving force behind Terrorgram in March of last year.
