Someone had discovered a photograph of Ypi's grandparents on their honeymoon and posted it on a public Facebook group. Ypi — a philosophy professor from Albania who teaches at the London School of Economics — was dismayed by the comments on the photograph, which ranged from inaccurate to judgmental to just plain mean. Were the husband and wife in this photo Albanian aristocrats? Fascist collaborators? Victims of Communism? Responding to the trolls — as well as, as she puts it, “taking the trolls seriously” — Ypi decided to write a book reconstructing her grandparents' story. The result is Indignity: A Life Reimagined, a book which asks, among other things, what does human dignity really mean? What makes this book even more interesting is that Ypi's grandparents lived through some of the most dramatic moments in the twentieth century: the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the rise of Fascism, and World War II. Ypi joins Damir and Santiago, who want to understand Ypi's own philosophical priors. Damir wants to know where moral responsibility ends and and the structural forces of history begin. Santiago asks whether dignity, as a concept, has a metaphysical foundation. This is just the latest example of how far some people will go to attack Reform UK, Nigel Farage, and the party's supporters.  We've seen a wave of recent political hits — including renewed stories about alleged comments Farage supposedly made as a teenager, and even attempts to drag him into the Nathan Gill situation, despite Gill being responsible for his own treasonous actions.  Why are the Tories trying so hard to link everything negative to Nigel Farage? Why are MPs throwing around labels instead of arguments? There have been many revolutions, but not all have had the same significance - because not all are able to perpetuate themselves as the new state apparatus, and create a lasting government that goes on to benefit the people in a creative and positive way, embodying the ideas of the movements and masses that brought about the revolution in the first instance. The October Revolution was such a revolution, and moreover it was a popular mass uprising against the tyranny of Tsardom and Reactionary Capitalist Imperialism that had not only created a world groaning under the weight of colonial slavery, but was drowning that world in blood in order to re-divide its markets, resources and wage-slaves among the chief imperialist powers, the Robber-Barons of finance capital. The October Revolution, in Lenin's words, broke the iron circle of imperialist ties, and the workers of all countries applauded them and supported them for their brave action - that showed the clear path forward for all workers and oppressed. "Peace! Bread! Land!" was the slogan of the October Revolution, and it was the Russian Revolution of October 1917 that brought the end of the 'great' inter-imperialist World War. This year we also celebrate the 80th anniversary victory in the Great anti-Fascist war (WW2), in which the Heroic peoples of the USSR gave 27 million lives, and the Chinese People a staggering 40 million lives in order to vanquish Fascism. Fascism was the naked aggressive terroristic dictatorship of the capitalist class - which the latter resort to when the workers rose in revolutionary temper, organisation and action - in order to suppress the workers and drown the revolution in blood. We see today, that in the face of its global crisis of overproduction, in a desperate attempt to save the moribund capitalist system, that the NATO countries, in particular the Anglo-America imperialists and EU imperialist ruling class, have resurrected fascism and are waging desperate wars against he Peoples of Russia - this time using Ukrainian Fascist strom-troops - and waging a genocidal war upon the peoples of the Middle East, notably in Palestine. They are fighting too in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and continue to tighten their financial and political stranglehold upon all neo-colonial countries, while attempting to subvert the socialist nations of Cuba and the DPRK, and all independent countries - notably those of BRICS, with an overwhelming strategic vision and dream of bringing down Russia and China and securing once more their 'unipolar' world order. Yet for all that, the tide of global anti-imperialist resistance is rising. We salute all who have joined this heroic struggle against NATO imperialism, and say unequivocally that British Workers too must break our chains of bondage to our ruling class and join that fight. One of the many great things about "No Kings" is the variety of messaging we saw. Which means a variety of thoughts. For the progress side of America this is both good and bad because messaging can be scattered. As historically, there will always be the "free Tibet" Berkeley hippies there with those fighting for civil rights, affordable healthcare, and upholding the constitution. For the regress side of America, they're messaging is often more homogenized because there is less variety of thought. This unfortunately means its messaging can be parroted and echoed quicker. When we look at the phenomenon of theocratic fascist cults, whether they arise in the deserts of the ancient world or the digital jungles of the modern mind—we are observing the triumph of ideology over experience. These people, who we've said it before and we'll never stop saying it, in their latest incarnation, are in a fascist MAGA cult, nested in a regressive red cult, nested in a faux Abrahamic supremacist religious cult. So these thrice cult fervent disciples speak in unison because the narrow structure they inhabit demands it. Language, that great frontier of the individual spirit, within these tight canyons is commandeered, reduced, and weaponized into a tool of control. The spontaneous bloom of personal insight is replaced by the same dozen tired selfish asshole tropes, "You Marxist", "You Communist", "We're a Republic, not a democracy", "You wanna raise my taxes", etc...
