In September of 1982, a 12-year-old girl and six adults in and around Chicago died suddenly and mysteriously. The victims of this product tampering case were Mary Kellerman, age 12, of Elk Grove Village; Adam Janus, age 27, of Arlington Heights; Stanley Janus, age 25, and Theresa Janus, age 19, both of Lisle; Mary Reiner, age 27, of Winfield; Mary McFarland, age 31, of Elmhurst; and Paula Prince, age 35, of Chicago. All seven were determined to have ingested cyanide-laced Extra Strength Tylenol capsules on or shortly after September 29, 1982. Pastor Arthur Guice received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1980, while attending Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL. It was during this season in his life that Arthur sensed a call to ministry. As a result, he changed his major from Business Administration to Theology. On March 23, 2003, Arthur was installed as the Senior Pastor of Spirit of Liberty Church of God, Markham, IL. A few years after serving as Senior Pastor, Arthur faced personal tragedy as his lovely and devoted wife of nine years went home to be with the Lord after a very courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Elmhurst resident, Anna Maria Sperando, was adopted from Italy in the 1950's by an American family at a young age, as her biological mother tragically died when she was only two years old.  After many years of searching for biological relatives in Italy, she found three living aunts, an uncle, and 'molti' nephews, nieces and cousins, with the help of her daughter, Jennifer Veremis.  Their recent trip to meet their newly found relatives, is a tear-jerker.  Also featured in the episode is our friend Slappy-Sal with a food review of Pazzi di Pizza, as well as another edition of One Ponce a Time with PK and Dave Oberg.

How does the narrow way of Jesus lead us to the sort of fullness he promises?  In my first interview of the Fall season, I'm glad to be able to share a conversation I had with Rich Villodas a few months ago about his new book, The Narrow Path: How the Subversive Way of Jesus Satisfies Our Souls. I love that title. In February of 2011, Bradley Hartmann requested an interview with Bill Heuer and Geoffrey Gran, co-founders of The Countertop Factory Midwest. The interview was homework—a required 5-page paper on leadership and “new venture creation”—in Hartmann's MBA program.
