In this episode we explore the new CMS framework for health equity. Health equity as a regulatory mandate is a new concept. We've long had some related requirements including a) ADA physical environment rules, b) ant-discrimination and c) language assistance. But until now, we have not seen a regulatory focus on health equity. Join us for this episode with Cris Lopez, VillageMD Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Gary Jacobs, Executive Director of VillageMD Center for Public Policy, as we dive into what this means and what's to come from this within healthcare in the future. VillageMD's Working Smarter podcasts are concise healthcare compliance conversations that are never boring and sometimes funny. We provide practical information about complex legal and regulatory topics. If you enjoy the podcast, we want your help in spreading the word! Share this episode with your friends and colleagues. Following the news that only nine people are taking part in the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax pilot, this week on the No Accounting for Taste we take a deep dive look at the project and explore why the numbers have plummeted. Gary Jacobs, the CEO of Eazitax, joins the AccountingWEB editorial team in the virtual studio this week to give his thoughts on the MTD ITSA pilot. Gary has been involved in the pilot since its inception in 2016. As reported on the site this week, the number of people taking part in the scheme has eroded to just nine due to the tightening of the criteria and the exclusion of those who had received Covid support grants. Understandably, professional bodies and commentators are calling for more information on how HMRC plans to scale up its testing process. The AccountingWEB team also rounds up all the latest news and stories hitting the world of accountancy this past week, including a major cyber-attack, the Treasury writing off billions in Covid fraud and agents losing access to HMRC services without AML proof. Listen on Apple, Google, Spotify, and other platforms. Dr. John Dobak currently serves as the CEO of Dermtech, a biotechnology company creating a new category of medicine - precision dermatology. DermTech is in the business of transforming the way doctors perform skin exams. Its smart sticker technology - an adhesive tab that collects skin cells - allows dermatologists to run genomic tests looking for skin cancer. Dr. Dobak found himself in San Diego when he started med school at UCSD while in pursuit of a life-long goal of becoming a surgeon. When working towards his postdoc at UCLA, he interned at a local hospital, where he received a grant for a cardiac catheter that froze tissues to treat arrhythmias. Upon completion of his internship, he raised his first venture round for what became Cryocor. Cryocor was Dr. Dobak’s first startup, and it led to his work at INNERCOOL, which employed hypothermia to cool blood in order to protect the brain and heart during injuries. Unfortunately, INNERCOOL could not achieve the proper clinical data, so the company was sold to Phillips. Next up, he worked at a company that treated eye problems with a technology that additionally had dermatological applications. This is how he was introduced to Gary Jacobs, who just happened to work at DermTech. At this time, DermTech sold clinical trials services to dermatology companies, but consumer feedback indicated a need for skin analysis technology. With John’s expertise, the company quickly pivoted towards its current technology - adhesive skin patches. With lots of trial and error, the product has reached a 95-to-97% success rate in sample collection vs. the original 30%. While not technically a founder, Dr. Dobak helped build the company up from scratch. First with the help of angels and then institutional investors, DermTech went public. Listen in to hear what John has to say about the adapting biotech space in San Diego and how DermTech continues to capitalize on it. Woops! is an American post-apocalyptic sitcom that aired on the Fox network from September 27 to December 6, 1992.[1] The series was created by Gary Jacobs, and produced by Witt/Thomas Productions in association with Touchstone Television. The series centered around the six survivors of a world nuclear holocaust. The six of them live together in an abandoned farm house while trying to survive and re-establish civilization. Thirteen episodes were made, but only ten were aired before Fox canceled the series.[2] In July 2002, TV Guide named Woops! the 42nd-worst TV show of all time, and referred to as a "post-apocalyptic Gilligan's Island".

Having run a talk station, I can quite imagine what the presenter offices of the old Talk Radio UK must have been like. You hire the greatest talk talent ‘cos they are larger than life. They can debate, argue, generate heat as well as light and win any argument. Off-air they are much the same. Mix James Whale with a dose of Anna Raeburn, a smattering of Simon Bates, a right wing David Starkey and a know it all blunt lawyer like Gary Jacobs, what do you do when Jeremy Beadle walks in with Dale Winton? I know I am mixing the eras there, but I suspect any one of Talk Radio's programmers would confirm that their particular gifted menagerie were quite a handful. Talk went through several eras, as it sought to identify a hole in the UK talk market which was not the BBC's but also not an American shaped. Having launched in 1994, and produced some brilliant programming along the way, alongside some significant challenges, the station lasted for four years before turning into the clearly-defined and successful Talk Sport. This selection of promos, thanks to Drew White, illustrate the TRUK days.
Gary Jacobs was joined by Oli Kay, Rory Smith and Gabriele Marcotti on the phone. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
