Chad and Chelle give updates on what as been going on with then post-Thanksgiving...but the really dig into all that went down in the final part of the trip episodes of Potomac season 5! After two Gossip Time specials, we're back for our regular (but still extremely exciting!) coverage. However, we must first discuss the new trailer for Real Housewives of Dallas Season 5. Welcome Dr. Tiffany Moon! Hope they smudged the place to get rid of LeeAnne's bad vibes. After this week's Potomac episode, we have some questions... Is Karen genuinely that terrible at orchestrating drama? Why is Ashley's uncle named "Lump"? And why OH WHY has this show's editing team not swept the Emmys? Then it's time to head (checks map of America) WEST to Salt Lake City, where Jenn's in rage mode, Lisa's somehow managed to melt our ice-cold hearts ("Can I touch?"), and Heather's hit her stride. And Mary? Mary's educating these ladies on the heat wave of 2003. 5,600 people died and it made the best grapes of all time. Next week we add Atlanta coverage to the mix. We’ve got Moury Minhaz reporting from ground 0, in NYC, where they’ve been hit by the biggest cases of COVID19. But you think you’re having it bad... The Karen’s of the world are really having a time of it as a journalist has taken THIS as the opportune time to ask, "Is Karen the N word for White Women”.. Hmm... let’s discuss. That Rona is still raging and we have so much to talk about: how it’s effecting transplant patients, effecting the Wisconsin Primary, how some politicians are using this as an opportunity to pass laws, mostly on the evil side (but one good one), Italy's high death rate, domestic violence is on the rise, and the Queen gave a speech making us wish we had lost the American Revolution. In the main korner it’s a tale as old as time: it wouldn’t be a pandemic without some racism. We explore America’s history of racism in times of pandemics, how it’s effecting the Asian American Community, and how Andrew Yang’s op Ed pushing for Asian Americans to prove their "Americanness" is bringing up past feelings of WWII Japanese American Internment camps amongst some. On the entertainment front Moury watched the Tiger King and has a quick review... We both are burning with love for Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon’s Little Fires Everywhere, which fuck "daddy issues" this show is brining front and center the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters and what spawns into: mommy issues. Moury talks about from experience, and the challenges of immigrating here and balancing this with assimilating to a new culture, and holding up traditional expectations. James is late but jumping into The Wire which has ruined television for him. Plus Ozarks season 3 we couldn’t sit or unclench or butts. Karen Hoyos was a victim of domestic violence who overcame incredible adversity to reach where she is today -- and, in fact, sees her past struggles as a blessing, as she explains in this episode. She has become a celebrity coach and speaker with over 25,000 graduates from her seminars. Her impressive list of clients includes Harvard University, the United Nations, the New York Times, and many more. All this came from letting go of control and giving in to faith, and she explains in this conversation how all of us can make space for miracles and transformation. Find Out More About Karen Here: Karen HoyosKaren Hoyos on Facebookkarenhoyos on Instagram@karenhoyos on Twitter In This Episode: [01:43] - What is ego to you? And is it a good thing or a bad thing? [03:03] - Karen explains why it’s important to come up with a different name for your ego. She briefly touches on her own ego, Carmen. [05:03] - We are responsible for everything that happens to us and what we’re attracting into our lives. Karen then talks about how to turn around unconstructive thoughts. [08:29] - Karen talks more specifically about the kind of clients she works with, and how she works with their egos. [11:28] - Is Karen in essence all the time, or does she have to catch herself in automatic mode and pull herself back into essence? [13:32] - We also have a spiritual ego, Karen explains. Once we reach a certain level of spiritual knowledge and training, the ego will use those tools to manipulate us. [15:26] - What does Karen tell people if they’re in the spiritual ego, and how does she help them shift out of that state? [19:18] - Karen talks about how to receive honest feedback from people. She also reveals that she always asks people what their love language is so that she can interact with them in a more meaningful way. [22:45] - Most people aren’t ready to go as deep as their coaches may want them to go, Karen explains. [24:05] - Karen says that only 1% of people are living their life’s purpose, and explains what she means by that. She then shares some of her own story of reaching her life’s purpose. [27:22] - Karen believes that our inner purpose is to evolve and our outer purpose is to contribute. [31:09] - What does Karen tell people who feel that they can’t follow her advice about finding their purpose because they need to hold down a stable job and make money to support their families? [36:11] - Stephan responds to Karen with a recent Kabbalah learning of his. Karen then talks about the miracles that take place once we let go. [39:33] - Stephan shares the reason he created this podcast, which isn’t related to his traditional business. He and Karen then talk in detail about the fact that experiences aren’t a waste of time, even if your life ends up taking a different path, with Stephan sharing how his seemingly unrelated educational background is related to what he does today. [48:02] - Even the darkness and challenges of your past can be positives in your present and future, Karen explains, and talks about how this has been the case in her life. [50:44] - Karen shares more of her story, and explains why having had a gun held to her head is in fact a blessing. [53:55] - Stephan, too, had a huge shift at a Tony Robbins seminar, as he explains here. He mentions the before-and-after pictures of him on his About page. [57:46] - Karen explains that her effectiveness in public speaking comes from living congruently behind the scenes. Pastor Emmanuel Akognon answers questions submitted by members in the monthly Question and Answer Sunday. Questions from members: 1. Did King James I write a book about demonology? If yes, how can he be credited for writing the King James Version of the Bible? Was King James a Christian? 2. How would you deal with a man and woman who have had 30 years of friendship that seems pure and loving without any romantic overtones. The man gets married and a few months after revealed to his friend over 30 years that he has always had romantic feelings for her? Case Studies dealt with during the sermon. 1. Rodney believes that he was saved at a tender age of 7. He was baptized at Corinthian Baptist Church of Cotonou. Rodney participated regularly when his parents made him attend services as a young lad. Now at the age of 25 Rodney does not attend church services and only comes to church on Christmas, Mother's day, and other special events. Rodney is also living with a girl he is not married to and seems to think there is nothing wrong with the arrangement. Is Rodney a Christian? Why or why not? 2. Joanna goes to Church services religiously. Since 1990 she has never missed any church worship service. She does not attend Sunday School or Cell Group. She is single but living with a man that is separated from his wife. Joanna is 35 years old. Joanna thinks Sunday School and Cell group are extracurricular activities. She does not believe in reading the Bible on a regular basis. She was heard one time saying that she does not have to read the Bible because God speaks to her with a sweet quiet voice every day. Joanna believes that hearing the word every Sunday is good enough for her. Is Joanna a born again believer? Why or why not? 3. Karen is a covenant member of Village Baptist Church. She is also a team leader. Karen has several members of the church that she has not spoken to in over 5 years. These people drive her crazy plus, they have offended her in a very bad way and she does not have time for them. In fact, she cannot stand them. She was confronted one time by a deacon who knew about one of them. She said she just cannot find it in her heart to forgive them and act as if nothing happened. She does not want to discuss the issue. Is Karen a Christian? Why or why not? 4. Victor comes to church because he is interested in a girl at the church. He does not attend Sunday School or Bible study. In fact, he does not participate in anything unless he is invited. He was baptized at an early age but has never made a confession of faith in Christ as an adult. He has stated several times that he was baptized because his parents wanted him to do so. He does not support the work of the church at all. He has put a few dollars every now and then in the collection plate. He thinks Christian stewardship is what preachers made up in the time of the reformation. He does not believe in spending personal time with God. Would you consider Victor to be a genuine Christian? 5. Julius is a party animal. In fact, everyone in the area knows him as the "life of any party". He has been a member of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ for 10 years. He believed Jesus has nothing against going to parties and having fun. If there are no parties in the area for a month he would arrange his own and invite many of his friends. Alcohol is served freely at his parties. Some of his guests even bring their own marijuana to his parties. Julius also sings in the choir when he is on time. He claims he does not smoke or use drugs. He drinks but hardly ever gets drunk. He comes to church regularly but usually late. He does not believe in Cell Group, Bible Study, or Prayer meetings. Julius claims that God speaks to him frequently and he knows without a doubt that he is a Christian. When challenged, his form answer is "I am only human. Is Julius a follower of Christ? Why or why not?
