This episode of Postcards is a special one. Jeremy Robert Johnson is the author of several groundbreaking books in the bizarro sub-genre, but he was always on the more horror end of the genre. He becomes the first returning interview. So go back and listen to Episode 6 that was recorded in 2017. Jeremy Robert Johnson could be considered a part of a new wave of horror to have mainstream publishing success, but he is also the first to come out of the Bizarro scene with a major hardcover release. This is a spoiler-filled discussion on the nuts and bolts behind the writing of this book a must-listen for writers. Fans of the Loop will enjoy the peek behind the curtain. If you stick around you'll get a little Cronenberg and Prince of Darkness talk too! •You can find my books here: https://bookshop.org/contributors/david-agranoff Amazon-https://www.amazon.com/David-Agranoff/e/B004FGT4ZW •And me here: Goodreads-http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2988332.David_Agranoff Twitter-https://twitter.com/DAgranoffAuthor Blog-http://davidagranoff.blogspot.com/
This week we get visceral – with the extreme body horror of Robert Jeremy Johnson and his new novel THE LOOP. Jeremy speaks to us from Portland, Oregon, where he’s busy watching the forest fires and working on ways to weaponise his words for good. THE LOOP is a novel all about conspiracy theory, medical mishap, and a class war raging through a small town. Think your favourite 80s teen comedy (with its guts spilling out) mixed with a little bit of 50s pulp Americana and smeared with 2020s political frenzy. That’s THE LOOP and man, it’s a trip!!Oh, and we hear some VERY alarming claims about the octopus! The books we discuss in this episode include: The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton (1967) Survivor Song, by Paul Tremblay (2020)IT, by Stephen King (1986)Boy’s Life, by Robert McCammon (1991)Summer of Night, by Dan Simmons (1991)A Collapse of Horses, by Brian Evenson (2016)Come talk books with us on Twitter @talkscaredpod or email direct to talkingscaredpod@gmail.com.Thanks To Terry Smith Audio for sound editing.

This week, Patrick and Tracy welcome Jeremy Robert Johnson whose novel, THE LOOP – available today for preorders, shipping on Sept 29th. ABOUT THE LOOP: A small town nestled in the hills of central Oregon becomes the epicenter of an epidemic of violence when the teenaged children of several executives from the local biotech firm […] The post Episode 462-With Jeremy Robert Johnson appeared first on The Functional Nerds.
Jeremy Robert Johnson could be considered a part of a new wave of horror to have mainstream publishing success, but he is also the first to come out of the Bizarro scene with a major hardcover release. Stephen Graham Jones, Laura Lee Bahr, and Brian Evenson are authors who I think walk this line that some times touches Horror, Bizarro, and fine Literature all in the same stories. But Jeremy was a flag holder for the movement so Entropy in Bloom and the soon to be released novel The Loop feels different. This interview was recorded on 8/3/17 when Entropy in Bloom was released. This interview is focused on his new collection. At the end we do go pretty deep and ridiculous about a story in the book that I first commissioned for a Punk horror anthology I think this part will not be as interesting unless you have a punk or hardcore scene background. •You can find my books here: Amazon-https://www.amazon.com/David-Agranoff/e/B004FGT4ZW •And me here: Goodreads-http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2988332.David_Agranoff Twitter-https://twitter.com/DAgranoffAuthor Blog-http://davidagranoff.blogspot.com/
