The This Is Horror Podcast is hands down the best horror lit podcast around. Over the years, I have discovered so many of my favorite authors through this show. Each interview is extensive and provides a deep dive into the world and craft of horror fiction. The hosts, Michael David Wilson and Bob Pastorella, are friendly, approachable, and super fun. They have had a wide range of wonderful writers and creators on the show, and every episode is top-notch. Through this podcast, I have not only enjoyed the interviews but also discovered a wealth of great writing that has profoundly impacted my life as a reader and writer.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is its extensive library of interviews with notable authors in the horror genre. If you're a fan of horror literature, there's no better place to learn about your favorite authors and discover new ones. The conversations go beyond just discussing their books; they delve into topics like writing process, personal experiences, and life lessons. The hosts ask thoughtful questions that provide valuable insights into the author's creative journey.
The only downside to this podcast is that it can lead to an ever-growing list of books to read. After listening to an interview with an author, you may find yourself compelled to buy their books and explore more of their work. While this may be seen as a downside for some people's wallets or reading schedules, it's really a testament to how impactful the podcast is in introducing listeners to great books.
In conclusion, The This Is Horror Podcast is an absolute gem for horror fans, whether you're a reader or writer yourself. The interviews are enlightening and entertaining, providing a deeper understanding of both the genre and its authors. Michael David Wilson and Bob Pastorella are fantastic hosts who make each episode feel like sitting around with good friends talking about your shared love for horror. If you haven't already checked out this podcast, it's definitely worth giving it a listen.
