This kind of volatility, they emphasize, is exactly what they've been preparing listeners for all year: unpredictable swings driven more by market mechanics and sentiment than fundamentals. The ASX 200 put on another 13 points to 7932 (0.2%) after a tentative start. 2% up for the week. Banks were sold with the Big Bank Basket unchanged at $238.82. CBA flat. MQG saw some profit taking, other financials also flat, GQG down 1.4% and HUB off 1.8%. REITs once again in demand, SGP up 0.8% with VCX up 2.4%. Industrials were firm but unexciting, WOW and COL rallied hard on ACCC news, CPU up 3.7% and retail doing ok again, PMV up 3.9% on an update. JBH bounced back a little too. Tech was a little soft, WTC off 0.5% with the All-Tech Index down 0.7%.Iron ore stocks were firm despite falls in the iron ore price. BHP up 1.1% and RIO up 0.9%, maybe copper more a factor. Lithium stocks were depressed, PLS fell 5.1% and uranium squeeze continues, BOE up 6.7%. Gold miners slid on some fatigue in bullion. GOR down 3.3% and NST off 0.6%. In corporate news, PDN dropped 4% as the rains came down in Africa. CSC lifted 0.7% after announcing plans to issue $500mn worth of senior unsecured bonds and EMR crashed 3.85% on a production miss.Nothing locally on the economic front as we head into the Budget next week. Dowsing is a fascinating form of divination since it is often used to find water, minerals, or even lost items. While other forms of divination like tarot or botanomancy seek to provide information, here the information is often of a tangible sort. Rather than telling a fortune, or providing a prophetic dream that must be interpreted, dowsing appears to relate information about the presence of something the dowser is looking for. Given dowsing can be used to find a whole range of things, this article will focus on the use of dowsing to locate water. After all, this comprises much of the discussion about dowsing within folklore. This form of dowsing also enjoyed other names, including water witching, well witching, water divining, or rhabdomancy. While dowsing can also be performed using a pendulum, sometimes held over a map when dowsing for water, this article will also focus on the use of rods, since this appears more frequently in folklore. Somatic therapy. Ancestral trauma. Creating our own fears. Crossing our own boundaries and letting people step on my boundaries. How to create safety for intimacy. Trust created by asking questions. Asking for consent for every step is sexy when you are confident and can handle a no. Healing our trust issues. It's ok to go slow and for a man to prove that he is trustworthy. The more you like someone the slower you need to move. Re-Animator (1985), From Beyond (1986), and Dagon (2001) Bringing the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft to the screen is not an easy task. Much of the horror Lovecraft talked about wasn't described or explained too much, leaving it up to the reader. But when director Stuart Gordon, producer Brian Yuzna, and writer Dennis Paoli got together to adapt Lovecraft's 1922 story "Herbert West - Re-Animator" for a movie, they changed cinema forever. Not only did they show us more than Lovecraft would ever dream of, they created a perfect blend of outrageous horror, gore, and bizarre imagery that would immediately put them in the horror history books. The following year, they took another short story, From Beyond, first published in 1934, and showed even more strange, bizarre, and gooey things we'd seen before, going beyond then what the short story told us. Then 15 years later, these three deranged creators returned to Lovecraft to take us to a fishing village filled with very unusual citizens, in 2001's Dagon. While Gordon's filmography might not be filled with classic after classic, when he hit a home run, usually he was working with Yuzna and Paoli. The latest book from critically acclaimed writer Helen Oyeyemi, Parasol Against the Axe, is a novel set among the city of Prague's streets. It's often said that a city can feel like a character in a book but in a skilled feat of unconventional storytelling, Oyeyemi's tale uses the city as the literal narrator of its story. That  plot involves a lost weekend set around a hen party and some surreal storytelling to make outlandish ideas come alive, while also focusing in on themes such as love and addiction. Oyeyemi's previous novels and short stories have won awards including the Somerset Maugham Award for her book White is for Witching, and she's been shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize, too.
