In 2026 a return to our core principles as a nation will be the paramount goal. Constraints on power are reasserting themselves. System memory returns. Back to the founder's concepts. Federalism by friction. Borders will be redrawn not in ink, but in practice. Somali's were targeted for specific reasons. We'll hear about currency zones and sovereignty blocks. Europe is changing fast too. UK won't dissolve but unity is weakening. The world sees old rules no longer apply. Conformity is unenforceable. The eighth and ninth Amendments will be key. Power will flow back to the states. This is basic political physics and not rebellion. The economic hardships are real. Traditional structure will win and systems will stop pretending. America 250 matters. Trump's statements on the new year give hints. He won't be around forever. Since 2013, the power has returned to the people. Ohio minimized it's own state's constitution and invited federal overreach. That's important. Empires last about 250 years. Traditional colonialism is returning. China security buildup happening in the Sahel. There's South America and aliens too. Hardships are lessons. So much reckoning is coming. Above it all, President Trump is slowly and carefully returning power to the people.
This is a re-upload of an episode I did recently with Subliminal Jihad, which again is a podcast I am sure many of you are aware of and if not one I think you would enjoy very much. Original episode notes. Dimitri and Khalid speak with Marcus (@Marcus_TROTR) from The Return of the Repressed podcast about class conflict, the slave mode of production, and dynamics of expansion and collapse in 1st millennia BC Greece.Topics include: the rise of maritime city states out of the rubble of the Bronze Age Collapse, iron-forging as disruptive technology, questioning the class structure of this era and defining who the “aristocracy” actually were, intra-elite struggles between nouveau riche and “old money” landowner factions, the curious co-existence of free and slave labor, the slave mode of production's rapid expansion during the so-called golden age of Athenian “democracy”, the rise of coinage via Philip II of Macedonia's mercenary armies, Alexander's construction of a vast Eurasian web of city states connected by “currency”, and more…Subscribe to the Return of the Repressed: https://www.patreon.com/thereturnoftherepressedFor access to full-length premium SJ episodes, upcoming installments of DEMON FORCES, and the Grotto of Truth Discord, become a subscriber at https://patreon.com/subliminaljihad
THE 1975 COLLAPSE AND THE WAR'S STRATEGIC FAILURE Colleague Geoffrey Wawro. Following the 1973 peace deal and US withdrawal, Congressional aid to South Vietnam plummeted, leaving the ARVN deprived of essential logistics and air support. When the NVA launched their final offensive in 1975, the US did not intervene, leading to a chaotic collapse of the South Vietnamese military and the fall of Saigon. The war concluded as a strategic failure where the US fought a political war based on the domino theory without understanding local realities, resulting in immense loss of life for little geopolitical gain. Nationalism is an ideology and movement centered on the idea that a nation should have its own independent state and govern itself within its perceived homeland. It involves strong identification with one's nation, fostering national pride, and can serve as a powerful force for unity and self-determination. I have no problem with the concept of people identifying with a nation, although dislike any system that divides people along arbitrary lines, including the soil where their umbilical cord was buried after birth. I prefer to identify myself as a citizen of planet Earth, a definition I'm perfectly willing to expand to a citizen of the universe when extraterrestrial civilizations

Iran is facing one of the most serious internal crises in decades. Massive protests are erupting across the country as inflation spirals out of control, shopkeepers strike, students chant "death to the dictator," and senior officials resign. Could this be the beginning of the end for the Ayatollahs? At the same time, Iran continues to issue threats against Israel and the United States—even as its own people rise up against the regime. We break down what's happening on the ground inside Iran, what it means for the future of the Middle East, and why this moment could be historic.

There is a federal agency whose only mission is to make sure that banks, credit card companies, and debt collectors don't screw over working-class Americans with fraud schemes, hidden fees, and the like, so naturally Trump, Musk, and DOGE have brought it to the brink of collapse. We'll talk about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the existential crisis it faces in 2026. Robert Lawless, Professor of Law & Co-Director of the Illinois Program on Law, Behavior, and Social Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, joins Ian Hoch to break down what's happening to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and what 2026 could look like if it collapses.

THE DANGERS OF TRANSACTIONAL NATIONALISM Colleague Gregory Copley. Copley warns that suppression in republics often leads to uncontrollable demands for liberty, citing the collapse of the Shah's Iran and the USSR. He distinguishes between "tribal nationalism," based on shared history, and "state nationalism," which is often transactional. Copley argues that transactional systems eventually fail because the state runs out of resources to trade for support, leading to corruption and the potential fracturing of society. In this episode, we examine the realities behind universal health care by looking at Canada's system, wait times, medical tourism, and cases where patients are denied life-saving treatment. We discuss the rise of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, the economics behind high drug prices, and why “miracle” medications often create new dependencies and unintended costs. We scrutinize airline incivility, declining standards of behavior, and why airlines are reluctant to enforce norms despite growing problems. Phil Magness also joins us to discuss the internal collapse of the Heritage Foundation, the rise of post-liberal conservatism, and the growing influence of figures like Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes. Episode Summary:In this episode of Explaining History, Nick continues his exploration of 1960s radicalism, focusing on the disconnect between the student-led "New Left" and the American working class. While the counterculture is often remembered through images of campus protests and the SDS, the reality was far more complex. Drawing on Kim McQuaid's The Anxious Years and Mike Davis's Set the Night on Fire, we examine why the anti-war movement struggled to build bridges with blue-collar workers who were enjoying unprecedented prosperity. From the "hard hat riots" to the collapse of the Old Left after Khrushchev's secret speech, we delve into the ideological vacuum that student radicals tried—and largely failed—to fill. Why did the New Left view unions as "traitors to their class"? And how did the affluent origins of the student movement alienate the very people they hoped to liberate?Plus: Important announcements about our upcoming live masterclasses for history students in early 2026!Key Topics:The Ivory Tower: Why the New Left remained isolated on university campuses. The Hard Hat Riots: The clash between student radicals and pro-Nixon construction workers. The Collapse of the Old Left: How 1956 and 1968 destroyed faith in Soviet communism.Affluence vs. Revolution: Why prosperity dampened the revolutionary zeal of the American working class.Books Mentioned:The Anxious Years by Kim McQuaidSet the Night on Fire by Mike Davis and Jon WienerOne-Dimensional Man by Herbert MarcuseExplaining History helps you understand the 20th Century through critical conversations and expert interviews. THE COLLAPSE OF 1989 AND THE MODERN AUTHORITARIAN PIVOT Colleague Professor Sean McMeekin. In the final segment, McMeekin challenges the narrative that the 1989 collapse was solely a popular uprising. Instead, he argues it was a "top-down disintegration" caused by the withdrawal of Soviet force via the "Sinatra Doctrine" (letting satellites go their own way). Regimes fell because security forces mutinied or stood down, not merely because of protests. Regarding modern Russia, McMeekin notes that while Putin has jettisoned Lenin, he retains a nostalgia for Stalin as a "builder" of state power. The conversation concludes with a warning: while traditional communism relied on extreme violence, modern authoritarian regimes, particularly China, may now use advanced surveillance technology to achieve total control without the same level of overt bloodshed. CEO, president, and founder of the Clinician Burnout Foundation Jodie Green and physician advocate and physical therapist Kim Downey discuss their article "Why wellness programs fail health care." Jodie and Kim explain why traditional wellness initiatives often add to the burden rather than relieving it for exhausted medical professionals. They introduce the concept of the quicksand effect where meaningful help becomes impossible to grasp amidst systemic failure and advocate for immediate practical support like transportation and child care. The conversation covers alarming statistics regarding physician suicide and nurse safety in the U.S. while addressing the critical difference between burnout and moral injury. In Week 17, Mike Francesa praises the Giants for competing against the Raiders despite having no postseason hopes. But the Jets? With Aaron Glenn at the helm, this team is hopeless, even with a high draft position in sight.
Jon Herold kicks off the week with a wide-ranging Daily Herold that blends market watch, political theater, and cultural absurdity into a familiar Badlands-style rundown. After some behind-the-scenes tech hiccups, Jon dives into movements in silver and gold, questioning mainstream narratives around profit-taking and geopolitics while keeping an eye on broader economic instability. From there, the conversation pivots into viral cultural moments, media propaganda fatigue, and the growing public awareness of systemic fraud, including NGO abuse, entitlement programs, and taxpayer-funded corruption. The episode explores the implications of government waste, ballooning national debt, and the unsustainable structure of modern governance, drawing parallels between failing businesses and a failing state. Jon also breaks down ongoing Ukraine developments, Trump's communications with global leaders, and the repetitive cycle of political “breakthrough” headlines that never quite materialize. As always, the show blends sharp commentary, humor, audience interaction, and skepticism toward institutional narratives, closing with reflections on accountability, civic disengagement, and the slow drip of normalization in an increasingly unserious system.

Open inquiry depends on the ability to ask uncomfortable questions and follow evidence wherever it leads. Eric Kaufmann argues that this norm is now under strain. Drawing on history, survey data, and political theory, Kaufmann outlines how certain identity categories came to be treated as morally sacred—and how that shift has reshaped debates about equality, free speech, and academic inquiry. The conversation examines the long roots of today's culture conflicts, the move from equal opportunity to equal outcomes, and why disagreement is increasingly interpreted as moral transgression rather than intellectual difference. At stake is what happens to liberal societies when some questions can no longer be asked, nd whether open inquiry can still be defended without abandoning concern for fairness and dignity Eric Kaufmann is a professor of politics and Director of the Centre for Heterodox Social Science at the University of Buckingham. He has written for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London, Newsweek, National Review, New Statesman, Financial Times, and other outlets. His new book is The Third Awokening.
When you're working harder than ever and still getting questioned, most leaders assume they're the problem. But what if the real reason you're exhausted isn't lack of effort...it's that you're trying to win inside a model that was never designed to show your impact? This episode is part of a 5-part series exploring the journey B2B revenue leaders take from reactive chaos to finally understanding, measuring, and transforming their entire Revenue Factory. Each stage represents a critical inflection point and the exact moments that separate leaders who consistently hit targets and drive real, provable results… from those who spend every quarter scrambling, duct-taping reports, and wondering why nothing is working. This episode explores Stage 3: The Breaking Point, AKA the most emotionally charged and career-defining moment in the entire transformation journey. What We Cover in This Episode:Why Stage 3 is the moment leaders either break down, or break throughWhy constant scrutiny, unclear reporting, and cross-functional finger-pointing aren't personal failures, but symptoms of a broken data modelThe exact frameworks that explain why you're stuck and what has to change to unlock real revenue clarityWhy duct-taped reporting, activity-based KPIs, and siloed metrics guarantee misalignmentHow top-performing GTM teams rebuild their entire foundation, and why it transforms everything from credibility to win ratesThis is the episode for every revenue, marketing, or GTM leader who has ever thought:I'm exhausted from constantly defending myself.”“I KNOW we're making an impact, so why can't I prove it?”“What if the problem isn't me… but the entire system?”
Chelsea suffer a damaging 2-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa, and Manny and Simon completely lose their patience. After coasting for the first 60 minutes, the Blues capitulate in embarrassing fashion, prompting a rant-filled episodethat pulls no punches. The hosts go IN on the players, Enzo Maresca, and the sporting directors, questioning how a squad assembled at such enormous cost can be so mentally fragile, inconsistent, and poorly constructed. This isn't just about one bad result — it's about years of bad decisions, money wasted on unproven talent, and a club paying the price.Simon and Manny tear into the squad building strategy, asking how Chelsea ended up here and why the same mistakes keep being repeated. They also preview the next Premier League clash against Bournemouth, but do so with genuine concern, discussing what this result means for the rest of the season and whether Chelsea are heading in the wrong direction again.
When the stakes are high and expectations are muddy, even the most competent humans can slip into self‑protection mode at work. Deadlines, performance reviews, politics, and power dynamics can echo earlier experiences of exclusion or danger, so our nervous systems do what they were wired to do: defend. In this conversation, our gals break down how that shows up on teams—and what to do about it. The six threat responses at work: •Fight: The combative colleague who argues every point, dominates meetings, or treats every disagreement like a win‑lose battle. •Flight: The smart person who goes quiet, avoids conflict, or turns down opportunities because speaking up feels risky. •Freeze: The “I don't know” response, analysis paralysis, and stalled decisions that show up when people are terrified of being judged or getting it wrong. •Please/appease: The chronic yes‑sayer who overworks, agrees with everything the boss says, and buries their own dissent to stay liked. This can look like commitment and “great attitude,” but often signals people who do not feel safe being real. •Attach/cry for help: The “needy” teammate who constantly checks in, escalates, or dramatizes issues to get attention and reassurance. •Collapse/submit: The checked‑out, burned‑out, “why bother” energy—folks who stay on payroll but mentally and emotionally leave the building. The good news is that psychological safety can change everything! Listeners will recall that psychological safety is the shared belief that it's safe to take interpersonal risks like asking questions, making mistakes, or disagreeing with the boss. When safety is low, threat responses spike; when safety is high, people can access their best thinking, creativity, and courage instead of just their defenses. Use this episode to reflect on your own go‑to response (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, attach, or collapse) at work—and how you, yes you, can help make your workplace safer, more honest, and a hell of a lot more joyful.

Happy holidays from Sinica! This week, I speak with Paul Triolo, Senior Vice President for China and Technology Policy Lead at DGA Albright Stonebridge Group and nonresident honorary senior fellow on technology at the Asia Society Policy Institute's Center for China Analysis. On December 8th, Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he would approve Nvidia H200 sales to vetted Chinese customers — a decision that immediately sparked fierce debate. Paul and I unpack why this decision was made, why it's provoked such strong reactions, and what it tells us about the future of technology export controls on China. We discuss the evolution of U.S. chip controls from the Entity List expansions under Trump's first term through the October 2022 rules and the Sullivan Doctrine, the role of David Sacks and Jensen Huang in advocating for this policy shift, whether Chinese firms will actually want to buy H200s given their heterogeneous hardware stacks and Beijing's autarky ambitions, what the Reuters report about China cracking ASML's EUV lithography code tells us about the choke point strategy, and whether selective engagement actually strengthens Taiwan's Silicon Shield or undermines it. This conversation is essential listening for understanding the strategic, technical, and political dimensions of the semiconductor competition.6:44 – What the H200 decision actually changes in the real world 9:23 – The evolution of U.S. chip controls: from Entity Lists to the Sullivan Doctrine 18:28 – How Jensen Huang and David Sacks convinced Trump 25:21 – The good-faith case for why export control advocates see H200 approval as a strategic mistake 32:12 – What H200s practically enable: training, inference, or stabilizing existing clusters 38:49 – Will Chinese companies actually buy H200s?
