Fiserv is a Fortune 500 fintech company with around 40,000 people across the globe and an API team of 20 that focuses on enabling money movement for thousands of financial institutions and millions of businesses. Full disclosure, they also are a Stoplight customer, so stay tuned for more details about their success in an upcoming case study Trying to juggle a massive company alongside a transforming industry and many APIs isn't easy. But luckily for other enterprise-level API teams, Matt and Ryan have some great advice on what to keep in mind when running an API program at this scale. Along with globalization of our societies comes the need to analyze the geospatial and geotemporal data that is needed to manage the growth in commerce, communications, and other activities. In order to make geospatial analytics more maintainable and scalable there has been an increase in the number of database engines that provide extensions to their SQL syntax that supports manipulation of spatial data. In this episode Matthew Forrest shares his experiences of working in the domain of geospatial analytics and the application of SQL dialects to his analysis.

Recovery Media Podcast: A Conduit of hope, safety and trust.
Louis and Jim welcome Matthew Forrest to the podcast. Matt shares how through his recovery he found the deep need in his life for unity, community and spirituality. He outlines his struggles with suicide and alcohol from a young age, as well as the beauty and value of the 12 step program. Matt speaks to how deeply his life was impacted by immersing himself in practices such as guided meditation, chanting and yoga. He also discusses the 4 Noble Truths derived from the Buddhist philosophy — specifically in the area of suffering: experiencing it, acknowledging it, learning and growing from it. Through illness and tragedy, Matt found additional opportunity to help others by asking the question: “What is this is happening FOR me?” From this came “Feeling O2 Good”, through which Matt continues to help in support of his community and those in need. Matt, Louis, and Jim also dive deep into what they've discovered we need as individuals in our lives — specifically the importance of day to day experiences. Matt tells a story of how even the smallest of moments or insights from those around you, can lead to some of the biggest understandings of ourselves and the path we want to walk. Last week we heard from a Denver-based realtor about her experience building an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). In part 2 of our mini-series on ADUs, we're hearing from an engineer in the Southern California area who also chose this unique method of house-hacking: Matthew Forrest. Matthew received his B.S. Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in 2014. Since graduating, Matt has been in a variety of roles for the downstream businesses of oil & gas companies in Southern California. In 2016 Matt was introduced to a podcast that sparked an interest in real estate that has grown to a passion for working with ADU development and multifamily syndication. Matthew and I are chatting all about his experience building an ADU and what the obstacles and triumphs have been throughout the process. He shares how he heard about ADUs, why it can be so hard to find information about them, and what he learned in the planning and building process.
