Welcome to JJBA part 4! What started this whole endeavor. Is DIU an AU of the JJBAverse?? Tomoko is a total baddie, Okuyasu's head is full of rocks, Josuke is babie, Koichi gets a face full of Joot's crotch, and we also talk about liminal space. NSFW language!
Okuyasu has a stand fight atop a motorcycle.
We argue at length about the compatibility of Japanese cell phones with ghost polaroids. Kira calls in late to work because his kid needs murdering. Okuyasu meets his dead brother who has apparently learned to be a good person since dying. We discuss bad dads at length, as we do. And Josuke pulls off the deadliest prank call in history. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Either you love it, or you've never seen it. But what exactly is JoJo? It’s a time loop! Who doesn’t love a time loop? (...probably Hayato.) Killer Queen evolves yet another power because why not? Rohan, Jotaro, and Koichi have a perfectly nice date together. Josuke temporarily develops hamon powers, because why not. Okuyasu...dies? Sure, we’ll go with that. The fact that people can’t see Stands if they don’t have one continues to bear comedy fruit. And Hayato continues to live through what is probably going to be the worst day of his life, but at least he’s our new Speedwagon (abs and all). -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Behold, gentle listeners! We have compiled for you some juicy bonus content of Mik and Auger talking about all their favorite animes. Those featured in this bonus episode include: One Piece, Homestuck, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, My Hero Academia, My Brother, My Brother, And Me, and Metalocalypse. Oh, and we talk shit on the creative minds behind Trailer Park Boys, briefly. We talk in depth about: skeleton job interviews, Okuyasu is a Very Good Boy, how Josuke and Jolyne are related, What's The Deal With Katsuki Bakugou, and a few other tasty miscellaneous media morsels. Trans rights!! Oh and the song featured in one of the middle break sections is 'Freeze Me' by Death From Above 1979!Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/runningfastandlookingcool#)
If you ever wondered to yourself, “how would Araki depict a lesbian?” wonder no longer, because today’s episode answers that question thoroughly (and breathily). We yet again have to concede that Koichi/Rohan is a ship with plenty of evidence behind it. Courtney definitely can not pronounce “Mucha” correctly. A great deal of time is spent questioning whether Koichi and Yukako are *really* together or just good friends. And Koichi finally remembers that he’s an Aries and acts accordingly. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Either you love it, or you've never seen it. But what exactly is JoJo? Today we establish that this is an unapologetically anti-wealthy teen podcast. We meet a bank employee who doesn’t have a Stand but *does* have an extremely fine-tuned bullshit detector. Josuke has never had a pen run out of ink, thanks to Crazy Diamond (I guess? This is a pathetic bonus power). Okuyasu just full on haymakers a child in the face but it’s fine because that kid has arguably the best Stand on the show. And just as all days end in Y, all episodes with Okuyasu involve him weeping like a small lost child (and we love it). -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! When you think about it, it’s pretty remarkable that there’s anyone left in Morioh who *hasn’t* been murdered by one of the many, many serial killers active in the town. Koichi continues to be a disappointment as a Stand user, this time getting shown up by a middle school kid. If I *had* to have a Stand, I could do a lot worse than Harvest. Okuyasu and Josuke bond over scamming children, which is the key to any good relationship. And we learn some of the finer points of verbal contract agreements, namely that they‘re not great, at least when entering into one with a literal child. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Are you horny for manga? Then do we have a character for YOU. This week we meet Araki's self-insert fanfic character, and he's perfect. Rohan's stand...h-how does it work? Is there someone we *won't* ship Rohan with? (Spoiler: yes, and it's Josuke.) Is there an animal that Rohan *wouldn't* torture? (Spoiler: ...probably not.) Koichi canonically weighs as much as Darius as a kindergartner. Heaven's Door is possibly the perfect balance of creepy and good. And we finally solidify our theory of how to tell if an episode of Diamond is Unbreakable is high quality. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Hello, who here is ready to talk about the average speed of a single electron? Great, because that’s what we’ve got for you when forced to discuss Red Hot Chili Pepper, maybe the most basic bitch stand in part 4. Josuke‘s mom should absolutely win Mother of the Year. We also (almost) determine the provenance of Okuyasu’s motorcycle that he definitely has had this whole time and is just choosing not to use whenever the plot requires him to be somewhere quickly. And working for the Speed Wagon (sic) Foundation maybe be hazardous to your health, but at least the uniform includes a jaunty cap. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Let's go eat some Italian food! This story is our favored entry point into the series for newbies because it has everything you could want: cute boys, sinister ducks, facts that are definitely not true, and a dog death (?). Okyuasu loves Kilimanjaro glacier water like Courtney loves Polar Seltzer. We learn some pasta facts that seem probably true, like you eat it with a fork. We workshop our idea for a No Reservations style cooking show starring Chef Tonio and Pearl Jam. This episode is a JoJo's otome game starring Koichi Hirose as our dead-eyed protagonist and Yukako Yamagishi as his shitbag boyfriend. Koichi's stand becomes actually useful but in return he gets a bad Stroheim haircut. Yukako's true power is self-delusion. We add Cape Boingy Boing to the Morioh Registry of Historic Sites. Araki slowly but surely improves at writing women, in this instance by introducing us to a very good girl who does nothing wrong. You know, just some light kidnapping, force feeding, and nonconsensual shibari. Josuke and Okuyasu spend way more time with Koichi than Koichi spends with them and it's adorable. The show finally admits that all stand users are married to each other. Do you like rules? Do you like flesh buds? Well we are happy to announce there are a bunch of new rules about flesh buds. The Dio Organization exists and is canon, which proves the Pirate Club is real too. Japan's 1980s bubble economy impacted the criminal vampire underworld just as much as it did the debt ratio of asset-backed businesses. Okuyasu won't kill his dad for some reason, which is maybe the only thing we can't relate to about Okuyasu. In this episode we finally confirm that stands are literally just puberty. We learn about even more bullshit things that stands can do. Okuyasu continues to be the best boy and Speedwagon Foundation scientists agree that he is 50% duckling. Koichi ovulates and Josuke kicks it across the room. As a podcast we do not actually think any of Josuke's Crazy Diamond strategies hold water, except for the one where he actually holds water, but then the water went ahead and killed his grandfather, so, that wasn't the greatest plan either. -- JoJo’s Bizarre Explainer JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! Good morning and welcome to our podcast, which has pivoted to be 100% about magic archery now. I know we were all thinking, “this show is really missing a sense of the ridiculous” but fortunately Araki finally added a silly explanation for a thing. (For real though: the bow & arrow are Good.) We meet Okuyasu, the most wonderful boy in the world. Josuke’s character design was a painfully accurate representation of 1990s men’s hair trends. We finally figure out how Josuke was conceived (not literally, our parents already explained that bit to us). Who is this man and what did he do with Okuyasu?
This week, we talk about two more confusing eps (Another One Bites the Dust, Part 2 + Crazy D (Diamond) is Unbreakable, Part 1), as well as a few other things: Dora the Explorer, the live-action JoJo movie trailer, the best ways to avoid STDs, Okuyasu's fate, US presidents, and Jackie almost kills Chicas. Marc could not find the Biggie/Tupac mural Myles mentioned. Subscribe to us on iTunes or Soundcloud, or email us your feelings.
This week we talk about Yukako Yamagishi and her (hair!) stand, Love Deluxe. We fall in love with Okuyasu and as promised, talk our favorite songs of 2016. There's a bit of sound popping in this episode which is, uh, regrettable.
This week, Jack and Andy come terms with the fact that one of their favorite characters from Battle Tendency is a Nazi and find out just how enterprising our friends Jousuke and Okuyasu can be.
Mountain Dew. Danganronpa 2. Takeout-box-shaped robots. All these topics and more come together in our certainly raunchy but questionably erotic second episode. We also dive into Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable's own middle-school hustler boy Okuyasu in a... roundabout way.
