**Clay Edwards Show – Episode 1219**   **Focus: Murder Rates by Age and Race** During the show, Clay Edwards presented FBI-derived statistics from 2021 that highlighted significant disparities in murder offending rates across racial and age groups. He described the numbers as deeply concerning and attributed the patterns primarily to cultural factors rather than external systemic causes. ### Overall Rates (Ages 15–64) Clay shared the following murder rates per 100,000 people: - **White males**: 5.2   - **Hispanic males**: 17.4   - **Black males**: 95.5   He noted that Black females in this broad age range (8.7 per 100,000) committed murders at a higher rate than White males (5.2). For comparison:   - Hispanic females: 3.6   - White females: 1.1   ### Young Children (Ages 5–14) The data showed:   - White males: 0.2 per 100,000   - Hispanic males: 0.8 per 100,000   - **Black males: 4.9 per 100,000** Clay emphasized that Black males in the 5–14 age group commit murders at a rate roughly comparable to White males ages 15–64. He pointed out that no comparable data appeared for females in this youngest age bracket across the groups. ### Peak Offending Years (Ages 15–24) Rates increased sharply in this group:   - White males: 8.3 per 100,000   - Hispanic males: 28.1 per 100,000   - **Black males: 207.4 per 100,000** Clay described these figures for young Black males as “frightening.” He also noted elevated rates for Black females in the 15–24 and 25–34 age ranges compared to White males in the same brackets. ### Clay's Analysis Clay stated that a Black child between the ages of 5 and 14 is more likely to commit murder than a White male between the ages of 35 and 64. He argued that the data reflects deep cultural problems, including what he called “culture rot,” fatherlessness, and children being raised without strong moral or religious foundations. He questioned how these patterns will play out in 30 years if current trends continue, suggesting that society will eventually refuse to continue absorbing the consequences. Clay stressed that he was simply recognizing patterns in the available data and that honest discussion of these realities is necessary. ### Andrew Gasser's Response Andrew agreed that the statistics point to serious cultural issues that must be confronted directly within the affected communities. He noted that the problems have been building for decades and require internal accountability rather than continued external blame. Both hosts acknowledged that 2021 saw a national spike in homicides following the COVID lockdowns, but they maintained that the racial and age disparities in the data remain stark and demand straightforward examination.

Key Takeaways Occlusion becomes easier when it is placed inside the treatment planning sequence, not treated as a separate subject. Facially generated treatment planning starts with where the upper teeth need to be for aesthetics. Once the central incisors are planned, the rest of the occlusion becomes easier to organise. Worn teeth that are still in occlusion are often in the wrong position. Anterior wear may be caused by tooth position, contact time, contact force, or a combination of all three. Gingival levels can reveal whether worn lower incisors have over-erupted. Digital bite scans are useful, but they are not always a perfect representation of the patient's bite. Shimstock remains one of the most valuable and inexpensive tools for checking true occlusal contacts. After fitting a restoration, checking the contralateral side first can reveal whether the new restoration is high. Anterior guidance should be steep enough to separate the back teeth, but shallow enough to allow the lower incisors room to move. Muscle palpation should assess the quality and symmetry of contraction, not just whether the muscles exist. Always assess the opposing tooth before placing composite, ceramic or an indirect restoration. A leaf gauge can help create a more repeatable jaw position when planning more complex occlusal cases. Provisionals are essential for testing aesthetics, function, vertical dimension and occlusion before committing to final restorations. Cover songs often aren't what they should be. Many are pale and pointless facsimiles of the original songs, and others even take off into some new direction for no reason whatsoever. Rude. So this week the "How We Heard It" guys let their imaginations run wild, freewheeling through music history (from 60-odd years ago to today), mixing and matching some of the most popular songs of all time to an expansive variety of distinctive artists, old and new. As a result, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Karen Carpenter and Prince can be called upon just as easily as Lady Gaga, John Legend, Billie Eilish and Benson Boone. Who would cover the Beatles? Who would the Beatles cover? You'll likely be surprised who the guys pick to cover Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," John Lennon's "Imagine," Bette Midler's 'Wind Beneath My Wings," Blondie's "Call Me" and R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)" - just to name a few. Born James Allen Worthy on March 28, 1992 in Queens, New York, James began pursuing music at the age of 16. During that time period James had the opportunity to meet the late great Michael Jackson at Webster Hall in New York City which inspired James to fully pursue a career in the music business. After moving to Atlanta, GA the singer, songwriter, and producers first musical experience was at his high school recording studio through a music mentoring program sponsored by Dallas Austin. His initial foray into music consisted of learning the art of songwriting which later turned into music production shortly after. Artissen was also highly influenced by artists such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Kanye West, Miguel, The Weeknd, and Pharrell Williams. While studying those artists he began to teach himself how to sing in 2009. To further his education he attended The Art Institute of Atlanta where he received a bachelor's degree in audio production. This helped him begin working, and placing his work with mainstream acts, and songwriters. In 2017, James transitioned from music production to artistry, and began recording himself. He joined a duo group named Kings X2, and released their debut single "Wine For Me" in september of 2017. The single peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot Single Sales Chart for 5 weeks. Later in 2018 the group disbanded, and James released his debut solo single "Move" which features the rap group Whodini. Following up to 2019 James released his anticipated EP "Blu Leisure" which became critically acclaimed upon its release. The project included guest appearances from: Tony Terry, Sonna Rele, Kalenna Harper, and Whodini. After its great success he released his sophomore EP "Kaleidoscopes", and in 2023 he joined forces with rapper Big Gipp of the rap group Goodie Mob to release their collaborative EP "Gipp N Worthy". The lead single "TOTW" peaked at #91 on the US Billboard R&B Digital Sales Chart also charting at the #1 position on the Amazon Best Sellers Chart. Within all of James's work he has been nominated for several Grammy Awards by working with names such as: Meek Mill, Justin Bieber, Robin S., 112, Raphael Saadiq, and so many others to name.
