Are you torn between protecting your kids' mental health and preparing them for real-world stress? Most parents feel this tension—and many swing too far toward pressure or protection. In this video, Greg & Rachel share a better path: don't inflict pressure—be the anchor while your kids face it. You'll learn how to build grit through trust, identity, and modeling, so challenge actually strengthens your bond instead of breaking it.What we cover:Identity over willpower: why saying “I'm not a smoker” beats “I'm trying to quit.”Anchor, don't apply pressure: your job is safety + modeling, not manufactured hardship. Results don't lie: how your life becomes the proof your kids can't ignore.Trust first, then stretch: push to the “next rock,” then keep your promise and carry them.Adjust your strategy: when you “get punched in the face,” learn, adapt, iterate.Do hard things yourself: kids spot hypocrisy—lead from the front.Make discomfort enjoyable: turn tough conversations, workouts, and cold plunges into shared wins.Big Idea: Grit grows in connection. When kids know you'll both challenge and carry them, they lean in, try again, and adopt a new identity that sustains lifelong habits.Key Takeaways✅ Be the anchor, not the pressure. Safety + example > force.✅ Model hard things. If you don't, they won't.✅ Identity drives habits. Become the family who does the hard, good things.✅ Keep promises. Stretch to the “next rock,” then carry—that's how trust is built.✅ Iterate, don't implode. When it's not working, change your approach, not your ideals.Chapters00:00 New Beginnings and Reflections03:18 Goal Setting and Identity Transformation03:31 Preparing Kids for Life's Challenges05:02 The Balance of Comfort and Growth05:30 Building Resilience Through Experience08:44 Adapting to Life's Punches09:59 The Journey of Parenting and Education12:19 Embracing Failure in Business and Parenting13:59 The Importance of Adaptability and Learning17:21 Influence Through Results and Personal Example19:32 Living an Extraordinary Life as a Family22:34 Teaching Resilience Through Real-Life Challenges24:58 Iterative Learning and Effective Communication28:39 The Power of Persistence in ParentingMemorable Quotes

Money alone won't make you happy—invest with purpose, aligning your finances to your values and life goals. Be Great: The Five Foundations of an Extraordinary Life in Business - and Beyond by Peter H. Thomas https://www.amazon.com/Be-Great-Foundations-Extraordinary-Business/dp/0615302572 https://www.instagram.com/peterhthomas_/ Peter Thomas has lived a tremendously successful and fulfilling life, despite personal tragedy and occasionally grave financial circumstances. He founded and built Century 21 Real Estate into the largest real estate network in Canada, and profitably spearheaded dozens of large-scale real estate developments all over North America. He has founded several more wildly successful businesses, the not-for-profit organizations LifePilot and the Todd Thomas Institute for Values-Based Leadership, flown a helicopter, dived to 850 feet in a submarine, and raced motorcycles. So why him? Peter Thomas doesn't believe he is a particularly gifted person or any smarter than the average man or woman in the street, but his achievements in business and philanthropy are world class. So what is the secret to building an exceptional life? The answer is that there are many paths to success, but what they all have in common is being true to the people on them, and you get to have to pick your own. Thomas shares his life, experience, and wisdom with you to illustrate his Five Foundations for achieving the life you want: Values: Clarify your personal values and live them. Focus: Understand the power of focus and how to apply it. Visualization: If you can picture your goal, you can work towards it. Inspiration: Celebrate the genius within you. Reflection: Tap into positive forces you control. For Peter Thomas, learning and applying these principles has brought him fame and fortune, aligned with a resolute conviction to help the less fortunate. There is no limit to what we are capable of achieving. Be Great is a manual for unlocking human potential.

Coaching The Human Soul - Encouraging The Sacred WithinWhat does it really mean to coach at the level of soul?In this very special roundtable episode of the Sacred Changemakers Podcast, host Jayne Warrilow is joined by members of the Resonance Collective for a heartfelt and timely conversation: “Coaching the Human Soul – Encouraging the Sacred Within.”Together with Dr. Al Spicer, Dr. Pamela Moss, Jason Stein, and Crina Ancuta, we explore what it looks like to move beyond traditional models of coaching and step into the multidimensional aspects of being human. This conversation explores the role of heart, spirit, and presence in transformational work, particularly in corporate and executive leadership environments, where the soul is often left at the door. Our panelists share their own practices, challenges, and insights on what it takes to truly create space for the sacred within coaching. We explore silence, storytelling, reverence, and deep listening, and ask: what becomes possible when coaching becomes a field for the soul to be remembered? You'll also hear reflections on the limitations of systems that value logic, speed, and measurable outcomes over intuition, wisdom, and connection, and a candid discussion about the future of human presence in an age shaped by AI. This is not just a conversation about inspiring human change; it's about remembering who we are, uncovering the sacred that has always been within us, and creating spaces where transformation can take root at the deepest level. If you're ready to expand your understanding of what's possible in coaching and to explore how we can encourage the sacred within ourselves and our clients, this conversation is for you. Listen now and let it call you deeper into your own resonance.Key TakeawaysWhy coaching the soul requires us to move beyond systems, strategies, and outcomes. How to invite the sacred into conversations where it is often absent. The role of silence, sacred presence, and deep listening in transformational work.Challenges of working in environments dominated by speed, logic, and performance metrics. Why encouraging the sacred within isn't about adding something new—but uncovering what's already there.Meet Our GuestsDr. Al Spicer is the CEO and founder of Extraordinary Life, Inc. 1. Kingmaker: Pamela Harriman's Astonishing Life of Power, Seduction, and Intrigue by Sonia Purnell chronicles the extraordinary life of Pamela Digby, later Pamela Harriman, a woman who masterfully leveraged her personal connections and keen intellect to become a significant, albeit often behind-the-scenes, figure in 20th-century politics. Born into an aristocratic but cash-strapped family in rural Dorset in 1920, Pamela Digby received a limited education but possessed a sharp mind. Her desire to escape her constrained upbringing led her to an impetuous marriage with Randolph Churchill, Winston Churchill's son, in September 1939. Despite warnings about Randolph's philandering and abusive nature, she saw the marriage as a doorway to an exciting lifestyle and a way to avoid returning to Dorset. During World War II, as her marriage to Randolph deteriorated, Pamela forged a close bond with Winston Churchill. She quickly became Churchill's secret weapon, joining his inner circle, "Padlock," and gathering crucial intelligence from influential Americans. Her most notable liaison was with Averell Harriman, the 49-year-old in charge of Lend-Lease, whom she successfully "enlisted to the British cause" and "bewitched" with her charm and strategic "mating dance". She also influenced figures like CBS star Ed Murrow, feeding him information to bolster British support in American broadcasts. Her wartime experiences, including giving birth during a Blitz air raid, deeply shaped her perspective. After the war, Pamela continued to cultivate influential relationships, including with Gianni Agnelli of Fiat, whom she helped gain acceptance in Washington. She later moved to America, marrying producer Leland Hayward in the late 1950s. While in the US, she was a close friend of President John F. Kennedy, whose assassination deeply affected her. Following Leland Hayward's death, which left her financially depleted, Pamela re-encountered and married Averell Harriman. This marriage marked her full immersion into American politics. She transformed their Washington D.C. home into a hub for Democrats, making Harriman feel like a king and advancing her own influence. She was an early advocate for women's political involvement, pushing beyond the traditional role of a political hostess to focus on policy and candidates. Pamela became a crucial mentor to Bill Clinton after his 1980 gubernatorial loss, restoring his self-belief and providing strategic guidance, including advice on television appearances. Her efforts were instrumental in shaping the Democratic party and contributing to its successes, including Clinton's 1992 presidential victory. As a reward, President Clinton appointed her Ambassador to Paris, a role she embraced despite her lack of formal diplomatic training. In this position, she played a decisive role in strengthening Franco-American relations and bringing a "moral compass" to the Bosnia crisis, drawing on her own wartime experiences to urge intervention. Pamela Harrimandied in 1997 from a brain hemorrhage, with Bill Clinton delivering an emotional eulogy, acknowledging her indispensable role in his political journey and her significant contributions to the 20th century. 1827 FOREIGN OFFICE AND DOWNING STREET

Juliet Prowse: Born to Dance: The Extraordinary Life Story of My AuntIn this episode, I discussed with Juliet Prowse regarding her book about her Aunt Juliet Prowse. Juliet Prowse was a young South African dancer and entertainer who burst into the international spotlight in her first Hollywood movie, Can-Can. Considered talented and exotic, she caught the media's attention and her engagement to Frank Sinatra fuelled their fascination further. But was it love and what did Sinatra make of Juliet's relationship with Elvis during G.I. Blues? Unhappy with 20th Century Fox, Juliet broke out of her contract, created her own company and became one of the highest paid dancers of her era on a $1 million Las Vegas contract in the mid-1970s.

Mastering the Art of Listening Summary In this episode of the Customer Service Revolution podcast, John DiJulius and Denise Thompson discuss the importance of listening in customer service and leadership. They explore recent trends in customer experience, the art of listening, and practical tips for improving listening skills. The conversation emphasizes curiosity, engagement, and the need for leaders to create an environment where everyone feels heard. They also touch on the concept of a 'reality distortion field' and how it can inspire teams to achieve the impossible. Takeaways Listening is a critical skill in customer service and leadership. Curiosity drives better conversations and deeper connections. Effective listening requires patience and the ability to let others finish their thoughts. Leaders should speak last to empower their teams and encourage open dialogue. Avoid multitasking during conversations to show respect and engagement. Asking probing questions enhances the quality of discussions. Listening like you're wrong can lead to better understanding and service recovery. Being a trampoline, not a sponge, fosters more engaging conversations. Everyone has a story that can provide valuable insights. Creating a reality distortion field can help teams achieve extraordinary results. After the success of our bilingual season about the first female doctor trained in the Dominican Republic, The Extraordinary Life and Tragic Death of Evangelina Rodríguez Perozo, we are adapting more of our episodes in Spanish. Starting next week, listen out for the stories of astronomer Annie Maunder, physicists Emma Unson Rotor and Carolyn Parker, and chemist and forensic scientist Mary Louisa Willard in Spanish and English. As we always say, for every Marie Curie or Rosalind Franklin whose story has been told, hundreds of female scientists remain unknown to the public at large. So, we illuminate the lives and work of a diverse array of groundbreaking scientists who, because of time, place and gender, have gone largely unrecognized. And now these stories are available in Spanish too. Learn about your ad choices: dovetail.prx.org/ad-choices

Better Doctors., I share a personal reflection sparked by a visit from my parents and their ongoing confusion about how Michael and I actually earn a living. Their questions reminded me just how unfamiliar and unconventional our business model looks from the outside—and that's exactly the point. I talk about the intentional decisions we've made to build a business that supports an extraordinary life, not just a predictable one. What if the things you don't have are exactly what God wants to use? In this powerful conversation, Tauren Wells joins The 1000 Hours Outside Podcast to share the story behind his new book Joy Bomb: Unleashing Jesus's Explosive Joy for an Extraordinary Life. Together with host Ginny Yurich, Tauren unpacks the deeper meaning of the Beatitudes—revealing how Jesus' first sermon wasn't just a list of virtues but a radical invitation to joy for the overlooked, the grieving, the struggling, and the spiritually empty. They explore how our culture's obsession with curated happiness leaves us chasing a version of joy that never satisfies. Instead, Tauren offers a bold reframing: lack, mourning, and hardship aren't roadblocks—they're invitations into a deeper, more explosive joy. With stories from his own life, parenting insights, and biblical truth, this episode will challenge everything you thought you knew about what it means to live a blessed life. ** Get your copy of Joy Bomb here Learn more about Tauren and all he has to offer here Learn more about your ad choices.
