Today, on Karl and Crew, we discussed the importance of being rooted in the Lord and His Word. We turned to Psalm 1, which compares a child of God to a tree. A child of God is considered a tree planted by the waters, has flourishing leaves, yields fruit in their season, meditates on the word day and night, and their nourishment comes from God. The chapter then speaks about the ungodly and how its tree is weaker, taken by the wind, and will perish because it's not rooted in Him. We turned to the phone lines to hear from our listeners about the scriptures they hold onto. We also had Greg Dempter join us to talk about the disruptive emotions leaders can feel during chaos and busyness, and how inner peace comes only from God through all that noise. Greg Dempster is the Founder and Director of ChristLife Ministries, an organization that transforms Christian leaders from various denominational backgrounds. He has also been a senior leader, elder, and ministry director. We also had Asheritah CiuCiu join us to discuss the importance of intimacy with the Lord during quiet time. Asheritah is a national speaker, bestselling author, and founder of One Thing Alone Ministries, an online ministry that helps overwhelmed women find joy in Jesus. She also has a YouTube page where she has posted a video called “Delighting in Jesus: Guided Prayers and Bible Study Tips.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today, on Karl and Crew, we wrapped up our weekly theme of “Fathers in the Bible” by discussing the greatest father of all, God. We turned to Luke 15:11-24 to analyze the parable of the Prodigal Son, as it relates to the rejoice and warm embrace our Heavenly Father has waiting for us whenever we come to Him. Our Heavenly Father wants an intimate and devoted relationship with us all, but we have to cast away the things of the world and submit to Him as the Prodigal son did when returning to his father. We also heard from Anne Graham Lotz, who shared her memorable moments with her Dad, Billy Graham, before his passing. Anne is known for her deep biblical wisdom, as she speaks globally and was called “the best preacher in the family” by her late father. We also had Karl pop in from Burundi, East Africa, to provide us with an update on what’s going on there. Then we heard a testimony from one of the listeners in the Boom Crew, Josiah. Today, Karl and Crew continued the weekly theme of “Fathers in the Bible” by discussing how God can break generational curses passed down through families. As followers of Christ, we have a Father who can deliver us from wicked patterns, so long as we turn to Him for guidance. We see this in 2 Kings 21, where we read about King Manasseh, the most wicked king in the Bible. Manasseh chose to do evil in the sight of the Lord, and after his reign, one of his sons, Amon, followed in his footsteps; however, his grandson, Josiah, broke the pattern and sought the Lord throughout his reign as king. We also heard similar stories from our listeners as they called to share how they chose a different path than their family when pursuing the Lord. We then spoke with David Stephens about the importance of discipleship with younger believers. David is a pastor, speaker, and coach with nearly 20 years of experience leading and discipling young adults. He has also authored the book “Getting It Together: 10 Lessons to Help Young Adults Live an Insanely Fruitful Life.” Dr. Michelle Watson Canfield also joined us to discuss the importance of a Father-Daughter relationship. Dr. Canfield is a licensed professional counselor, national speaker, and author. She is also the founder of The Abba Project, a nine-month group forum for dads whose daughters are in their teens and 20s. Leaving what is familiar to step into the unknown can be exciting and scary at the same time. In order to fully swing into the new, we need to let go of what was. As we do we can fix our eyes and God trusting that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly focus on David as we analyzed his leadership and his inclination to seek the Lord’s counsel. David was placed in a position of power as king, and instead of being led by man or power, he constantly sought the Lord when making decisions. We see this in 1 and 2 Samuel, David sought God from when King Saul was hunting him to when he was on the throne, making royal decisions. How often are you leaning on the Lord for counsel? We also had Jessica Ronne join us to discuss resources for caregivers. Jessica is an author, caregiver advocate, podcast host of “Coffee with Caregivers,” and the associate producer of the documentary “Unseen: How We’re Failing Parent Caregivers & Why It Matters.” She is also the founder and executive director of The Lucas Project, a nonprofit dedicated to serving parent caregivers. She has also authored several books, including her latest, “Caregiving with Grit and Grace.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Shawna’s daughter remembers being left at Costco, but Shawna remembers it differently. Shawna admits there have been times she felt God had abandoned her. But God remembers it differently. He didn’t leave. He never does. God is with you. You were created for a relationship with Him by Him! He’s not going to leave you. Listener, Dawn, calls in to share when she lost her grandson God pressed deeper into her heart how he made us for relationship with Him. And that He was with her just as He was with her grandson. What are you learning about obedience? As Shawna watched her daughter’s Australian Shepherd obey as slowly as a dog possibly could she saw herself in him. There are times when her obedience to God has been soooooo slow it was hardly recognizable that she was moving at all. Listener, Jess, shares how her obedience led to greater surrender which is leading her to into her God-given destiny. Through obedience and surrender she is doing things she never thought she would – things God had planned for her before she even took her first breath!Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wgnbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Maybe it’s YOU! When we feel attacked our brains slip into enemy mode. In other words, when we feel that someone is not for us, we assume that they are against us, and it’s game on! Longtime author and neuropsychologist, Dr. Jim Wilder, says we can be in enemy mode for a moment, a longer period of time, or allof the time. He joins us to talk about Escaping Enemy Mode: How Our Brains Unite or Divide Us. In this brain state of “enemy mode” we fight to win but we were created to be in relationship – to love. The way out of enemy mode is to remember that we actually want to be in relationship with one another. And to be reminded of who we are in Christ. Jim gives solid advice for loving others well by helping them get out of enemy mode, even if they can’t see initially that you are acting in love. Relationships are hard and messy. Understanding how to escape enemy mode will help us to stay connected with one another and ultimately to be who God created us to be.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wgnbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

They’ve all experienced deep wounds of the heart and mind that left them feeling overwhelmed – trauma. But there is hope. Rebecca Taguma, Executive Director of Trauma Healing Institute – a ministry equipping the church to help bring healing says the message of the Gospel, found in the living word of God, offers a transformational and lasting source of healing. Also, you’re not too much for God. I don’t know why it’s so much easier for us to believe all of God’s promises for others than it is to believe them for ourselves. But I promise you, the circumstances that have you wondering if God can come through for you are not too much for Him.
