The Karl and Crew Mornings podcast has been an absolute blessing in my life. I am incredibly grateful for all that I have learned from this show on Moody Radio. It has provided me with unwavering support and encouragement during challenging times, thanks to the hosts' dedication to sharing God's word. As someone who no longer commutes, I have found immense value in this podcast as it has become one of my most cherished resources for each day. The impact it has had on my spiritual growth is immeasurable, and I cannot sing enough praises for Karl and the crew.
One of the best aspects of the Karl and Crew Mornings podcast is their ability to engage in stimulating conversations. The topics they discuss are thought-provoking and often lead to deep reflection. Through these conversations, they manage to convict, encourage, and teach listeners like myself about various aspects of our faith journey. Their insights into Scripture are profound, helping to shed light on certain passages or providing a fresh perspective on familiar stories. This podcast truly serves as a powerful tool for anyone seeking personal growth in Jesus Christ.
While it pains me to say this because I genuinely love everything about this podcast, if there was one drawback, it would be the occasional lack of variety in guest speakers or perspectives. While Karl and the crew bring incredible insights themselves, having different voices occasionally could provide even more depth to the discussions. That being said, this is only a minor issue in an otherwise exceptional program.
In conclusion, the Karl and Crew Mornings podcast on Moody Radio is an absolute gem that I am forever grateful for discovering. The impact it has had on my life cannot be overstated. Through their commitment to sharing God's word and providing encouragement along the way, Karl and his crew have created a space where we can grow together in our journey with Jesus Christ. Despite the lack of variety in guest speakers at times, their stimulating conversations make up for it by convicting, encouraging, and teaching listeners like me. This podcast is truly a triple boom in every sense of the word!

Today, on Karl and Crew, we wrapped up our weekly theme of “Abide in God” by discussing how, when we abide in Him, we experience fruitfulness, whether it be changes in our perspectives or actions. What was the most significant “change of fruit” you noticed when you experienced new life in Christ? We had a few listeners call in and share the fruitfulness they’ve experienced after coming to Christ. Chip Ingram also joined us in sharing the beauty of embracing the God-given gift of joy. Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of “Abide in God” by discussing the three baits that Satan uses to get us out of proximity with God. We looked at John 15, where Jesus says that we must remain connected to Him to produce fruit and that without Him, we produce nothing. Satan doesn’t want us to be connected and will try to lead us away from Jesus. We turned to Matthew 4, where we analyzed the three ways Satan tried to separate Jesus from God and how he tries to do the same to us. Oftentimes, Satan will use the Hallucination of Salvation to deter us from abiding in God. Phillip Miller joined the conversation and provided insight into how being connected and having our identity rooted in Christ is imperative. Philip is the Senior Pastor of the Moody Church. He can also be heard on the weekly “Moody Church Hour” nationwide radio broadcast on 90.1-WMBI-FM on Sundays at 10 am. Philip also has over 15 years of ministry experience. We turned to John 15 to analyze Jesus’s metaphor of the grapevine. His metaphor demonstrates the structure of a spiritual circuit breaker, where our source is God, and we bear fruit when we are connected to Him and Jesus. The Father is the Gardener, Jesus is the grapevine, and we are the branches. We also had Lori Ridder come in and share her testimony. Lori is the Executive Assistant to Karl at 180 Chicago, a multi-location church where Karl is the Senior Pastor. She has also led two successful webinars on the connection between faith and fitness, including her own journey, weight loss, spiritual strength, and lifelong healthy choices. We see this in 1 and 2 Samuel, David sought God from when King Saul was hunting him to when he was on the throne, making royal decisions. How often are you leaning on the Lord for counsel? We also had Jessica Ronne join us to discuss resources for caregivers. Jessica is an author, caregiver advocate, podcast host of “Coffee with Caregivers,” and the associate producer of the documentary “Unseen: How We’re Failing Parent Caregivers & Why It Matters.” She is also the founder and executive director of The Lucas Project, a nonprofit dedicated to serving parent caregivers. Today, on Karl and Crew, we discussed how difficult it can be to continue doing good when others are rewarded for doing bad. As followers of Christ, we are called to trust, commit, and abide in the Lord despite what others do, which means doing the right thing. We must cling to Him and play the long game, knowing that He will handle it all in the end. Psalm 37 affirms this because it tells us not to fret over evildoers but to trust in Him patiently. Have you been playing the long game with the Lord? We also had Laine Lawson Craft join us to talk about how to fight for your children with prayer. We turned to 2 Corinthians 11:3 where Paul expresses concern about believers being misled by false teachers simply because they don’t understand the simple and truthful gospel. How can you share the gospel in a way where it makes sense to everyone? We also had Pastor Jon Kelly share his testimony of how Jesus met him in solitary confinement. Today, on Karl and Crew, we discussed the importance of walking in truth with the Lord. The enemy will try to plant lies in our heads to discourage and keep us from knowing the truth that God has given us. One of those truths is that we are dead to sin and alive in Christ Jesus our Lord, which is spoken about in Romans 6:11. When we know the truth, we won’t believe the lies that the enemy and the world throw at us. What lies have you believed? We also had Ginna Cross as a special guest today. It’s Holy Week, and today, Karl and Crew discussed the impact of Christ-like compassion on others. Jesus was very compassionate to those around Him, and we saw this in Matthew 21:14-17 when He healed the blind and lame that came to the temple. Today, on Karl and Crew, we started Holy Week by discussing how Christ cleansed the temple with Dr. Jim Coakley. Dr. Coakley is a professor at Moody Bible Institute in the Bible and Theology Department and an elder at the church, 180 Chicago. He has also authored several books, including "14 Fresh Ways to Enjoy the Bible.” We also turned to Mark 11 to see Jesus’s actions when clearing the temple and applied it to how we should clear ourselves of distractions and unclean things. As we walk with the Lord, we can’t allow just anything to enter our temples or fill our spirits because it can negatively affect our walk with Him. We also discussed how Resurrection Day can be considered a “Holy Reset.” Then, Pastor Karl answered some listener questions. It’s Freedom Friday, and we wrapped up the week by discussing our spiritual stance and heart posture toward the Lord. It’s easy to slip into an illusion of salvation when you don’t truly know who He is. We have to earnestly seek Him to get to know Him and be ready for when He returns. We looked at Matthew 7:21-23, which talks about how preachers, prophets, and teachers called out to the Lord because they thought they had taught and done wonders in His name. However, Jesus turned from them because they never came to know Him personally and spiritually despite their actions. Where do you stand with God? Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued in the Book of Esther as we discussed how Esther’s actions changed the outcome for the Jewish people. Esther took a leap of faith when she went before the king to save her people from persecution, and they were saved. Esther 9:1 tells us that the Jews overpowered their enemies in the end. What is the step of faith God is asking you to take today? We also had a stress-relieving conversation with Dr. Charles Stone, who shared some practices that help reduce stress with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Stone served in vocational ministry for 43 years and was a Senior Pastor for 30 years. He is now a coach consultant to pastors and leaders. Dr. Stone has authored numerous books, including Stress Less: 9 Habits from the Bible and Brain Science to Build Resilience and Reduce Anxiety. Today, on Karl and Crew, we were knee-deep in our analysis of the Book of Esther as we discussed how God took what was meant for evil and made it good because of Esther’s faith. Esther took a leap of faith when she went before the king to advocate for her people, risking a potential death sentence. Esther had to stand up for her people because Haman, the king’s advisor, convinced the king to persecute all the Jews because a God-serving Jewish man, Mordecai, wouldn’t bow down to him. Esther turned to the Lord and relied on Him when taking this risk, and the king showed her favor. Are you turning to the Lord when taking risks? We also had some heartfelt laughter with our weekly segment of Ally Thinks It’s Funny. Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our focus on the Book of Esther, discussing how taking a risk for others leaves room for God to show up. Esther was a young woman who stood up to prevent the persecution of her people. She put her life on the line unapoligetically, and in Esther 4:16, it says that she called for her people to fast while she took the risk and said, “If I perish, I perish.” Have you ever taken a stand or risk for others, not knowing the outcome? We also turned to Hebrews 11, which provides examples of biblical figures that took risks and had faith through it all. We even heard from the Boom Crew and their risky, faith-filled stories. Today, on Karl and Crew, we began our weekly focus on the Book of Esther by discussing the importance of trusting the Lord over worldly securities and comforts. You may rely on specific daily amenities for stability or routine, such as cars, investments, insurance, etc, and you can quickly become dependent. We turned to Psalm 20:7, where we are encouraged to remember the name of the Lord our God over the chariots that may help alleviate daily needs or tasks. We can’t become dependent on the chariots that comfort us because sometimes we are called to disrupt that comfort for the good of others. In Esther 4:14, Esther was asked to risk her comfort in the palace to save her people from persecution, and she did. She jeopardized her chariot for the sake of her people. Are you willing to risk your chariot? Our special guest, Rob West, also joined us to discuss placing our trust in God instead of financial securities. Rob hosts the nationally syndicated radio program "Faith and Finance LIVE," which explores how faith and finance intersect. He also hosts the Faith and Finance podcast, which is connected to the app FaithFi. Rob also authored a 21-day devotional, "Look at the Sparrows.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On this Freedom Friday, we concluded our weekly theme of fasting with a discussion on fasting the right way. Fasting is a time of intimacy and devotion to the Lord, so we must approach it with a humble and seeking heart. We turned to Isaiah 58, which instructs us that our fasting should be pleasing to God, not based on our expectations or motives. We also discussed the pressures of evangelizing to others, and Andrew Steier joined us to share his insights about the evangelizing organization he works with. Andrew is the Director of Always Going, a Christian organization dedicated to teaching others how to evangelize with a focused worldview. The organization strives to reach others with the gospel in ways that go beyond general communication methods. Andrew has also authored and self-published a book called, “Always Going: The Joyful Overflow of Everday Evangelism.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of fasting with a discussion about the rewards, blessings, and intimacy with the Lord that come from fasting. We turned to Daniel 9:3-5, where Daniel tells us that the Lord heard him and honored his plea when he fasted and prayed. How often do you draw near to the Lord through fasting? Drew Dyck also joined us to discuss how God can transform ordinary things into extraordinary ones. Drew is an Acquisitions Editor with Moody Publishers and a contributing editor for Christianity Today's Pastors section. He has also authored several books, including “Generation Ex-Christian: Why Young Adults Are Leaving the Faith and How to Bring Them Back.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
