In this episode, we continue our series by engaging Chapter 1 of Stan's new book, Have We Lost Our Minds?: Neuroscience, Neurotheology, the Soul, and Human Flourishing. In this episode, we discuss: Why is it critical that Christians acknowledge well-done science? What are some implications of the assertion that the brain is fundamentally what we are? The difference between Dallas Willard's “VIM” model and Jim Wilder's version. Tips for listeners who want to be more aware of places where they have absorbed Physicalist assumptions. What can we know about what we are? Where does that information come from? Resources and Citations: Find out more about Have We Lost Our Minds? In this episode, Mr. Minton talks about both the biblical and philosophical reasons why he affirms dualism (the view that humans consist of bodies and souls) rather than physicalism (that humans are nothing but their bodies). There's lies a deep connection between quantum physics and mysticism. In regard to the link between mysticism and science, this book is a goldmine of insights. Schopenhauer's metaphysics is not typically understood as Objective Idealism, nor as Pantheism. However there is a different way of interpreting Schopenhauer if we look at it from an angle different from the Physicalist paradigm we are conditioned to believe in, in contemporary society. What are Schopenhauer's concepts of Will and Representation? Is Schopenhauer's Will the same thing as Meister Eckhart's Ground? How do Will and Representation relate to Plato's Cave and the wisdom in A Course in Miracles? Does observation affecting the result in quantum physics connect to the pantheistic metaphysics of Schopenhauer? Interested? Why not have a listen? A reading from Decoding Schopenhauer's Metaphysics, by Bernardo Kastrup. Published, Winchester UK, 2020.

The theory of physicalism does not fully explain all the phenomena that I experience. The toolbox of concepts must expand.
