Something to Say? Send Us a Message! When Ultra Expeditions Race Director Christy Krchnavy  laced up her shoes to start the Cocodona 250 mile race through the rugged Arizona landscape, she carried more than just her running gear; she embodied the indomitable spirit of a back-of-the-pack ultra runner. Her story is a testament to enduring strength, recounting her evolution from a time-strapped new mother to a conqueror of monumental distances. Christy's journey illuminates the heart of ultra running—a sport where victories aren't solely measured by speed, but by the sheer grit to cross the finish line. Her candid sharing of the extreme highs and lows, from debilitating blisters to the exhilarating sense of achievement, serves as a beacon to anyone drawn to the call of the trail. This episode takes you through the winding turns of Christy's meticulous preparation for Cocodona, underpinned by unwavering family support and a staggering 48-week training plan. The camaraderie of trail running shines through as she details how strangers became impromptu pacers, her personal cheerleaders through the night's darkest hours and her amazing crew worked efficiently and tirelessly to keep her moving through Aid Stations. Christy's creative strategies, like her "Mary Poppins" umbrella to combat the Arizona sun, not only reflect the innovation in the ultra community but also the unexpected moments of joy that can arise in the midst of struggle. Her reflection on the race as a rewarding journey, rather than an ordeal, invites listeners to reconsider their own challenges as opportunities for personal triumph. We close the narrative on a high, quite literally, with Christy's full-on sprint down Mt. Eldon and victorious finish in Flagstaff—a scene of exuberant high-fives that punctuated the end of an epic quest. It's in these moments, shared with the community of runners, pacers, and supporters, that the soul of ultra running is revealed. Christy's anecdotes, enriched with the evocative score of "Run" by OneRepublic, beckon you to lace up your own running shoes. Whether you're experienced on the trails or just considering your first ultra, this conversation with Christy is an invitation to join a world where endurance is championed regardless of pace, and every finish line is a new beginning.  And yes. Microcosm Coaching Team Call 09/30/2022: On this week's edition of Rapid, not so Rapid Fire Friday, we get into a ton of questions from our team and listeners. We start off by talking about traveling internationally with race nutrition and gear as well as protein and fat intake during longer ultras. From there, the conversation shifts to race preparation, from choosing A races to how much time to spend in aid stations and what to put in drop bags during events and how to hack the UTMB mandatory gear checks. Our conversation ends with a deep dive into thinking beyond one race season and giving yourself time to truly improve as a runner before stepping up to longer ultras. I hope you enjoy this episode and as usual, if you have any feedback, a question for a future call or are looking for support in your running journey, please visit us on the web at microcosm-coaching.com or contact us at microcosmcoaching@gmail.com

In the episode we hear from Chris Tubbs who is a husband, father and has a PhD in Biochemistry. If that wasn't enough, Chris also invests in real estate, has started a charity walk that grew to the point he had to enlist help to manage it and is a Prostate Cancer survivor. After being diagnosed with cancer, Chris started journaling as a way to document his thoughts and emotions. After Chris shared his journal with a few close friends they encouraged him to transition to blogging so that he could share his experience publicly in the hopes that someone who might be facing a similar situation would find comfort in the knowledge they aren't only facing adversity.Chris shares that during his junior and senior years of high school in Los Angeles, CA he was ranked in the Top 25 swimmers in the city. He then took a 25 year hiatus before finding Triathlon in his mid-40s. We spend a few minutes talking about family, high school swimming, and Chris sets me straight on how long it takes to get a PhD. I ask Chris if Ironman would allow my idea on how to get faster in the pool by getting cosmetic surgery. We talk about Chris' blog journeyto140. Chris reminds us of the importance of documenting our progress as most progress comes in small incremental steps that are more obvious when viewed over a longer period of time. Chris a 2X Ironman Finisher with both of his races being at Ironman Florida. Chris explains how he came to race Florida twice through a series of deferrals and needing time for his body to recover. Being completely open about all things, Chris shares that he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and had a complete Prostatectomy just weeks after completing Ironman Florida in 2020. Chris acknowledges that considers himself lucky as his Cancer was initially discovered through a blood test when he went in for a “regular” physical.Because Chris raced Ironman Florida in back to back years, I take to opportunity to ask him to compare the differences from one year to the next. Chris walks me through his experience this year on the swim. At one point he thought he might have been swept out to sea as he lost sight of all the buoys and the pier that the swim course follows. Chris is very honest about how his body is still recovering from surgery and spent more time than intended off the bike. Because of his experience with the change in weather the days leading into race weekend, I agree to pack a light jacket regardless of the venue moving forward. After getting distracted talking about Ironman 70.3 Texas, Chris explains how he had planned to attack the run course this year with a much different plan than in 2020. Chris' plan to run at a slower pace while walking the Aid Stations got him to mile 18 but soon found himself walking more than running. Luckily for Chris, another athlete whom he had run with earlier in the day, provided the encouragement that was needed to finish strong. We discuss the benefits of talking to others on the run course. Chris admits he enjoys the connection he is able to make through the community that is triathlon. Because I follow Chris on Instagram, I know that he has added Yoga to his workout routine, so I put him on the spot and ask him to share his favorite yoga pose. Because the Warrior pose is what gives him the most challenge, Chris list it as his favorite at this moment. We agree that adding yoga to your triathlon training is key to developing core strength. We talk about Chris' customized QR tri bike, and I ask him his thoughts on those athletes that ride a non-traditional bike to increase the difficulty of the race. We laugh at the notion of someone riding a bike from the early 1900s. And Chris share what's on the race schedule for 2022.You can follow Chris on Instagram @journeytoironmantexas

In the last episode of 2021, I had the opportunity to speak to Lissette Mares. Lissette currently works full-time in hospitality and lives in Yosemite National Park in California. Through the conversation she reveals that she grew up swimming, though conversation I determine that she may or may not have been an Olympic hopeful. She is also very open about living with Multiple Sclerosis. She was diagnosed in 2013 and has chosen to live her life as an example and to inspire others to reach their full potential.Once again, because I didn't graduate Doctor school, I had to get a high-level overview of an autoimmune disease. Lissette shares that MS attacks the Myelin Sheath, the protective coating that covers nerve fibers between the brain and the rest of the body. While she is currently in remission, she explains that heat, humidity, and stress can cause her symptoms to flare up.Recently Lissette completed her 1st full distance Ironman race in Cozumel, Mexico. We discuss her decision to race Cozumel in spite of the heat and humidity, Lissette revealed she intentionally choose to subject herself to the toughest environment that she could. Before talking about her training to prepare for Ironman, we discuss the 10 days that she spent in Mexico before and after the race. Lissette took the opportunity to arrive several days in advance to acclimate to the local climate which allowed her time to see family and explore. Being in hospitality, she provides some travel advice, rent through Airbnb and get a car.Lissette trained for 1 year to prepare for the full Ironman distance. Living in Yosemite National Park there were plenty of opportunities to run and bike, but she didn't have access to a lap pool, so she had to overcome her fear of open water to get ready for the ocean swim.Because Ironman Cozumel is on my personal race bucket list, I was excited to hear her firsthand account of the race. She was so gracious to break the race down for me discipline by discipline. We start by talking about this year's swim. There has been online conversation of how fast the swim was this year and if there was an advantageous current. Being an extremely strong swimmer, Lissette preferred the warmer water of Cozumel and the fact that she didn't need to wear a wetsuit. While she personally didn't feel she benefited from a current, she does point out that the clear water made for a fast and fun swim. After exiting the water 50 minutes faster than she had projected, Lissette celebrated with a chocolate bar and dancing to a song being played in the background. She had time to double-check her bike and nutrition before heading out onto the bike course.Lissette gives a thorough account of her on-bike nutrition. We agree that no loosing water bottles on the bike course is better than loosing bottles on the bike course and we talk about the rain that fell race day and the impact that it made on the bike portion of the race. Because heat and humidity is her kryptonite, Lissette believes the rain helped cool her core temperature which was a welcomed relief. Before talking about the run, I take the opportunity to ask Lissette about the actual bike course surface. The majority of the bike course takes place on the original highway that circles Cozumel island. While in Cozumel over the summer I was able to drive on the new highway that was installed several years back but was curious how well the original road is maintained. After discussing how she grossly overestimated how long it would take her to swim and bike, we talk a little transition before breaking down the run course. Lissette confesses that she had a panic attack in T2 but was comforted by two other athletes assuring her that everything was going to be OK. After heading out on the run course a little faster than she wanted she was able to slow down and get her emotions in check. Lissette explains that the Aid Stations were passing o

The National Weather Service, for example, instructed hunters and outdoor recreationists to be prepared for winter conditions in the Utah mountains. This type of storm is not unusual for the month of October — and even the second half of September — in this geography, the tops of mountains.   On Saturday, October 9, at 5:30 a.m., the race started off as planned in Kaysville, Utah. This town is just north of Salt Lake City in Davis County, the namesake of DC in the race name. Runners were excited for this autumn ultra, to run a rugged course that traversed the mountain range above the northern Salt Lake City suburbs, including Francis Peak and Bountiful Peak. The more prepared runners had seen the weather forecast and knew the event's high passages, and packed their running vests accordingly with jackets and gloves, some even bringing pants as a precaution.   Kelly Sparks, the Davis County Sheriff, spoke about the shock it was to get a call of this magnitude.   “It's pretty rare, in our part of the country, to get a call that so many people are in need of assistance. We usually deal with groups of twos and threes. We got the call at about 9:30 a.m. that there were runners out on this high altitude course that needed assistance. We sent some SAR people on foot, some on snowmobile, and some on four-wheelers. Some went from the front of the course going forward, and others went from the midpoint backtracking. We needed to ensure everyone could get off safely.”   When asked about the characterization in the initial media reports of runners being lost, Sheriff Sparks stated, “I don't think anyone was lost at that time, but the [race directors] realized that it could become a real situation, with the blowing snow and visibility. We needed to get people to a warm environment as fast as possible.”   The DC Peaks 50 blizzard and athlete rescue is just the tip of the iceberg of this story.  You have to understand where this this story starts with Jake Kilgore as a CEO of a major motorize wheelchair company and the journey to ultra trail running.   Let's talk to Jake Kilgore.     There are ton of details about Jake's experience that we did not get to:   Kilgore, Jake. Trial Running: Learning Perseverance Through Life's Aid Stations (p. 41). Kindle Edition. The doctor's office is left with an Orbit prescription pad in order to make the referral process simple. This pad contains checkboxes and fields for the medical professional to order supplies and materials based on a patient's needs. Many reps would make minor changes to this prescription pad and other paperwork—adding a missed checkbox, filling in a date, or writing in “ninety-nine months” when the length of need is overlooked. Everyone knew it. The owners knew it, I knew it, and our internal reviewers knew it. Although this behavior was not permitted, everyone viewed these actions as not a big deal—and certainly not criminal.     Kilgore, Jake. Trial Running: Learning Perseverance Through Life's Aid Stations (p. 36). Kindle Edition. I used every Sunday for a one-on-one phone call with each of my four kids, rotating through them oldest to youngest, one Sunday at a time. This was the best I could do to keep a close, private, trusted relationship with each child. I dedicated all fifteen minutes to that one child. If you only had fifteen private minutes a month, being recorded by the government, what would you ask your child? What would you talk about? Inmates were charged roughly three bucks for their fifteen minutes.   Kilgore, Jake. Trial Running: Learning Perseverance Through Life's Aid Stations (p. 50). Kindle Edition. We heard the whispers, we saw the looks of “That's Jake Kilgore. The one who's going to prison soon. His poor wife and kids. Sad that his greed and unlawful conduct would do that to them.” We heard it all. We saw it all.     Our News is sponsored by Buddy Insurance. In his victory in Florida over the weekend at his first long-distance race, Iden scored 107.23 PTO World Ranking Points, the second highest score for a full-distance race in 2021, just below the stellar performance of 2x World Champion Patrick Lange at Tulsa, where Lange scored 108.88 PTO World Ranking Points. Combined with Iden's 110.18 points scored at the IM 70.3 World Championship® and the 111.34 points he scored at The Collins Cup, this gives Iden a nearly unassailable average of 109.62 PTO World Ranking Points.   With Jan Frodeno, PTO World No. 2, announcing that he is not expected to race again this season, Iden is set to finish the season as PTO World No. 1. This will be the first year since the PTO Rankings began in 2016 that Frodeno has not been PTO World No. 1 and might signal that the Changing of the Guard has well and truly begun.   The PTO World Rankings are based on the average number of PTO World Ranking Points that an athlete has earned for their three best races in 2021. Frodeno's best three races are 112.86 points at The Collins Cup, 107.51 points at Challenge Miami and 88.10 points at Challenge Gran Canaria, giving him an average of 102.82 PTO World Rankings Points. At the race Martin took the lead after stage 14 where the race encountered the mountains. Martin was a good climber and never gave up the lead after that into Paris. The streets were said to contain more two million spectators watching the race.   Martin, along with runners up Heleen Hage (Dutch) and Deborah Shumway (American), stood on the podium with male champions Laurent Fignon, Bernard Hinault and Greg LeMond. Jake Kilgore is the race director of the DC Peaks 50 that has an epic story this year, ending in NYT headlines '87 Rescued From ‘Near-Whiteout' Conditions During Utah Ultramarathon.  Speaking of stories, Jake is also author of the book Trial Running: Learning Perseverance Through Life's Aid Stations. You heard right "TRIAL running".  Jake and his trail running has some very interesting roots, twists and unexpected outcomes. Should Frodeno decide to race again before December 31 and was to score 108.52 or more PTO World Rankings Points, he would reclaim the PTO World No. 1 ranking.   Ironman Arizona Schedule:  Thursday, Nov. 19 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. - IRONMAN Village Opens – Tempe Beach Park Friday, Nov. 20 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. - IRONMAN Village Opens – Tempe Beach Park Media Credential pick up time and location will be coordinated upon approval of credentials. Upcoming Guests Jake Kilgore is the race director of the DC Peaks 50 that has an epic story this year.  Speaking of stories, Jake is also author of the book Trail Running: Learning Perseverance Through Life's Aid Stations.  Jake has an amazing story of navigating through adversity both on and off the run course.   Video Of The Week Ironman Florida 2021 Race Movie Markus Eder's The Ultimate Run - The Most Insane Ski Run Ever Imagined 2021 Leadville 100 Run Women's Finish | Annie Hughes, Genevieve Harrison, and Blake Wageman   Closing: Thanks again for listening in this week.  Please be sure to follow us @303endurance and of course go to iTunes and give us a rating and a comment.  We'd really appreciate it! WOW! What a special treat! We get the complete insider's perspective on what it's like to prepare for, execute and learn from a 100 mile Ultramarathon from the RaveRunner, Ultramarathoner, Ryan Lange! --- Ryan is back for a sequel on Tough Talks but this time we don't just talk ABOUT his experience with these absurdly long runs - we join him IN it! --- We break it up into two segments. First we discuss he preparation routines and his pre-race mentality. Then he color commentates 6 video clips that were filmed of him DURING the race at his rests (Aid Stations). And walks us through, in detail, the elements of his physical, mental and tactical preparation, how he dealt with the demons, the lessons he learned from it, how he will apply those moving forward (next race is 200 miles around Lake Tahoe - one that defeated him last time!) and how all of this applies to the rest of us mortals. This is gold, Folks! --- https://christopherdorris.com/tough-talks-an-inside-look-at-the-mental-game-of-ultramarathoning-with-ryan-lange/ --- Ryan's first episode in 2018!: https://christopherdorris.com/tough-talks-ryan-lange-ultramarathoner/ --- More about Ryan: Website: https://livegenz.com/ Personal FB: https://www.facebook.com/ryanlange11 Business FB: https://www.facebook.com/GenZOutdoor LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/langeryan/ LinkedIn Business: https://www.linkedin.com/company/genz-outdoor/?viewAsMember=true Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raverunner_1/?hl=en --- If you enjoyed this content and you are not getting notifications of new posts, then I invite you to sign up to my list. July 18, 2020 Riding Gravel Radio Ranch Show Page ABOUT THE EPISODE THIS EPISODE IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY JENSONUSA Guitar Ted and Andy get together for something a little special. In this episode, in addition to the usual segments, they chat with Dave Pryor from unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley. Dave shares plenty of thoughts on where they are at for this year (be sure to check out the full informational press release below….). Listen in to get a little taste of what Dave and the event are all about. --------- OFFICIAL unPAved INFORMATION PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania This year, unPAved will take 2 different paths.  Announcing the plans (yes, plural) for 2020’s unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley: The unPAved Full-120 Race, limited to 200 participants in an individual time-trial format, on Sunday, October 11th. The registration lottery is open through August 2nd and participation announcements will be on August 3rd. Event costs $150. The unPAved Weekend Challenge, over 2 of the best cuts of the unPAved course set up as timed segments to test yourself on while you spend a weekend vacation in the Susquehanna River Valley. There will be swag, random prizes and lots of fun ways to play along from August 1st through October 11th and registration is now open. Weekend Challenge costs $40. THE unPAved FULL-120 RACE One of Cyclingnews’ “Top-10 Gravel Races in the U.S.A.” will happen this year, on October 11th, though will be significantly different with a reduced field size, eliminating the mass-start and DONEpaved Finisher Party, and including a significant amount of protocols in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Some highlights: 200 PARTICIPANTS Current guidelines for outdoor events in Pennsylvania is a max of 250 people, which includes staff, volunteers, mechanics, medics, marshalls, everybody. This field size will also help make the sign-in and aid stations manageable with the extra protocols in place.  FULL-120 ONLY There’s only going to be one field this year, so it’s for the Full-120 miles, and 10,000’ of climbing on some of the best gravel and dirt (in other words, unpaved) roads found anywhere. LOTTERY REGISTRATION Participants can profess their desire to participate until midnight, August 2nd. Announcements on attendance will be made on August 3rd, which is when they will be charged the $150 entry fee. OPEN WAITLIST Everybody who doesn’t get into the field will be placed in the Waitlist. If COVID-related restrictions, and the confidences related to it, lift between now and October as many people from the Waitlist will be included as possible & safe. Also, anybody who doesn’t get in from the Waitlist this year will get the opportunity to register early for unPAved 2021.  INDIVIDUAL START TIMES All riders will get a time to arrive in the start area and called-up when it is time for them to begin their 120-mile race, or ride. Riders will be asked for how they plan to ride unPAved during the registration process: “Taking in all the sights, sounds and smells. Ready, willing and able to spend all day out there.” “Not going to win, place or show but that doesn’t mean I’m going to dilly & dally too much.” “If there’s a clock running I’m going to see how I do. Get me to the whoopie pies!” SIGNIFICANT COVID-19 PROTOCOLS Including temperature checks, mask-mandatory zones, no indoor venues, different food & drink available at Aid Stations, two extra drop-bag spots on course, and no DONEpaved Party.  Last year, Kelly Catale (Seven Cycles) returned to her college town for the event, and left as the 2019 unPAved Women’s Whoopie-Pie Winner. She’s planning to come back to defend her title: “I am so excited to participate in this re-imagined version of unPAved that will enable me to stay safe during this time while enjoying one of my favorite places to ride!” THE unPAved WEEKEND CHALLENGE A second option for people who want to ride unPAved, though maybe not all of it, is by spending a weekend riding the beautiful farm roads & big forest hills, and taking on a special challenge over two of the best parts of the unPAved course: “The Proper Parts” and “The Difference!”  This challenge is open from August 1st through October 11th, and open to anybody visiting the region, and willing & able to ride the courses unsupported.  Riders can take this challenge on any weekend between August 1st and October 11th by riding solo, or with their teammates, friends or family (practicing best COVID-19 protocols, of course). The Susquehanna River Visitors Bureau has worked with a number of hotels in the region on special weekend packages—complete with unPAved Swag Bags and special offers from sponsors when they check in. Proceeds will benefit a variety of local charities, as well as the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League. Digital routes will be provided that are marked with water and facilities that are available and any nearby food stops. Riders can start & finish their ride from anywhere, as long as the Strava Segment on course is completed. Riders will need to post their rides to Strava, RideWithGPS or similar online service that’s visible to event staff. A leaderboard will be posted for bragging rights, but all prizes from sponsors will be random. THOUGHTS ON THE CHANGES “Fortunately for unPAved, we have had the time and opportunities to talk with government officials, epidemiologists, our participants and the local community to create a different event for this very different year,” said Dave Pryor, unPAved’s Promoter. “Pennsylvania has done an incredible job mitigating the curve, and it appears that outdoor recreation is one of the safest things people can do at this time—with extra precautions to take care of each other. We are also well-aware there are a number of ways that the event will need to change again, or even be cancelled as we continue to live through a pandemic. Both the local and gravel communities have been amazing to be a part of through this and we will all be in constant communication with both—because that’s how communities move forward.” “The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau is proud to be the Title Sponsor of unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley,” said Andrew Miller, Executive Director. “For the last two years we’ve had the distinct pleasure and excitement to introduce and promote the Susquehanna River Valley as a ‘must-do’ destination for gravel cyclists from the United States and Canada. unPAved adventure cyclists are living their best lives when they come to the Susquehanna River Valley and have praised the event and the destination. Their experiences and joy with unPAved has exceeded our expectations. 2020 will be a different event in a very different world but the adventure, friendly competition, beauty of the Susquehanna River Valley and the joy of gravel cycling will now and always remain the same.” “Salsa Cycles is thrilled to support another year of Pennsylvania dirt riding in the Susquehanna River Valley,” said Lindsay Beltchenko, Marketing Manager of Salsa Cycles (the official bikes & frames of unPAved). “Despite the challenges unPAved has been faced with due to the pandemic, they have put their best foot forward with amending their event plan to provide a safe and fun gravel experience for all.” Along with the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau and Salsa Cycles, unPAved sponsors include Stan’s NoTubes (official wheels & sealant), GU Energy Labs (official hydration), Floyd’s of Leadville (official CBD recovery products), Ritchey Logic, Voler Apparel, Purple Lizard Maps, Nittany Mountain Works, R.E.Load Bags, Philly Bike Expo, and Chamois Butt’r.  To follow along with the events, and to stay updated on any further changes, visit unpavedpennsylvania.com, and follow them on social media at facebook.com/unpavedPA, twitter.com/unpavedPA, and instagram.com/unpavedpennsylvania. In this month's banter episode, Eli and Tony talk about a podcast trick called "chocolate raining" and agree that neither of them ever want that term in their Google search history. They also agree to only talk about one coronavirus topic per episode, and then set a timer on themselves to keep their conversation about how Aid Stations might look different after coronavirus from taking over the whole episode. An interesting experiment at the London Marathon and Tony's experience with Tetra Pak at the Dallas Marathon both pose interesting potential solutions, as do enhanced self-serve and BYO hydration options.Inspired by images from a Twitter thread about irregularly-shaped running tracks, Christina does a pop-in segment where she and Eli reminisce about their glory days competing in indoor track when they were juuuust a little younger, and talk about fun non-traditional events that could be held on irregular tracks. And then Eli asks Tony to share his recent non-traditional coronavirus running routine--inspired by some combination of Forrest Gump, Mike Wardian, and Stacy saying in the previous episode that she thinks of Eli as more of a runner than Tony. Tony also shares how he and some industry folks have been supporting other runners during the pandemic and how you can, too.We had so much to talk about this episode that we went over our monthly time allowance with our hosting service, so buckle up!If you enjoyed this episode, please rate and review us on Apple podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts, and don't forget to subscribe. Eoin Keith was the winner of the 2019 Oman by UTMB 170Km race.  In this podcast he tells us all about his race and includes some tips and strategies for anyone thinking of taking part in future events.  The JBS is an incredibly tough and technical challenge only recommended for extremely experienced adventurers. Participants must be confident in their ability to cover very challenging terrain whilst being completely self-sufficient for a minimum of 10 hours as there are significant distances between the Aid Stations on the Jebel Shams section of the route. Athletes taking on this epic challenge will follow the 130KM route up Jebel Al Akhdar, including the vertical climb out of Balad Sayt, before carrying on along the top of the plateau and following the trail around Jebel Shams, where they will climb to an altitude of almost 3,000m. Runners arriving at the Aid Station at Col Trail Split within the barrier time, the point at which the Jebel Shams section starts, will be evaluated before being allowed to continue with the JBS. Those runners found not to be in a condition to take on the additional section will be re-directed onto the JBA route and will be reclassified into the JBA race. This also applies to runners arriving after the barrier time. With the new qualification criteria for UTMB in Chamonix, runners completing the 130KM or 170KM distances will bypass the lottery and have a guaranteed entry for UTMB 2020.
