Dooley, fresh from his arrival from Sheffield Wednesday, joins the boys to talk about the work he has ahead of him at Salop and his plans for the club. He addresses issues on the finances and communication, discusses why he made the move, and reveals his Dad is now a fully fledged Salopian!
Mark and Tommy discuss England in New Zealand, Australia in India and discuss if Chandimal is the best test batter in the world
This was recorded just before the floods hit Shrewsbury (2022) Before I get into what this episode is about I want to send my love and well-wishes to everyone effected. Coming to you from the Salopian Bar in Shrewsbury AL is speaking to Shelley Barratt to discuss The Shropshire Ale Trail. We are also joined the the co-owners of the Salopian Bar, Ollie Parry and Kev Rippard. We start off discussing the terrible couple of years that these guys (at The Salopian Bar) have had with the floods and Covid. Despite the challenges faced, Ollie and Kev are keeping a positive head on their shoulders. They have adapted to their environment, they have weathered the storm (that's a pun, it's clever and you can keep it) and are in-fact looking to expand further with a great looking upstairs area coming soon. Shelly talks about The Real Ale Trail which is happening on the 23rd April. This a great event where a bus will pick you up from The Salopian and take you on a journey to a number of stunning rural pubs across the county. Not only is this an exciting adventure to go on with your friends. It's an event that really helps to illustrate some fine establishments in areas that don't get as much foot-fall as the places in built up areas like Shrewsbury town. There is something special brewing here that could turn into a fantastic adventure for The Biscuit so watch this space!
After building a career under the watch of some of Australia's best chefs, such as Alla Wolf-Tasker, Karen Martini and Kylie Kwong, Karena Armstrong (Salopian Inn) took a step back from the industry to focus on raising a family. But the energy, comradery and connections she experienced in the industry had her yearning to return – but she wanted to do it her way. When an opportunity rose to open a restaurant in regional South Australia, she leapt at the chance, and its not only given her the opportunity to truly express herself on the plate, but has become one of the most important restaurants of the modern era.https://www.instagram.com/karena_armstrong/?hl=enFollow Deep In The Weeds on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/deepintheweedspodcast/?hl=enFollow Huckhttps://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer)https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/LISTEN TO OUR OTHER FOOD PODCASTShttps://linktr.ee/DeepintheWeedsNetwork

Over the summer we are going to catch up with previous guests and share yarns from their lives in food. AL speaks to Salopian community champion Nick Jones. Since making such a huge contribution to Pod Aid Nick has been a top priority as a guest for the Biscuit. Who is Nick? What is his role at Throgmorton Associates and what is it he does? AL asks all of the important questions, including how he deals with the huge responsibility of handling other peoples money? We find out so much about this guy, his adventures including marathon running, mountain hiking and even a parachute jump that nearly went wrong. When it comes to becoming a director of such an impressive company what is important? We start to build a picture when we hear about Nick's ridiculous, yet super efficient organisation skills and the importance of self investment.
After years out of the hospitality game to raise a young family Karena Armstrong (The Salopian Inn) found herself cooking more and more extravagant meals at home, before she realised she missed the connection and joy of working in the hospitality industry. When an offer to run her own restaurant popped up, it was too good to refuse and 8 years on she’s created one of Australia’s best restaurants where guests feel relaxed, comfortable, and eat in their own way.https://www.instagram.com/salopianinn/?hl=enFollow The Cracklinghttps://www.instagram.com/thecracklingpodcast/Follow Huckhttps://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer)https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/Follow PorkStarhttps://www.instagram.com/porkstars/?hl=enhttps://www.porkstar.com.au

This week we're joint by renowned McLaren Vale chef and restauranteur Karen Armstrong from Salopian Inn.Karena came up through some of the country’s best restautants: Icebergs and Billy Kwong in Sydney, and The Lake House in Victoria, and is now at the helm of the Salopian Inn - an exciting, bustling regional diner – a refurbished 1851 homestead covered with climbing greenery – on a quiet corner in and among McLaren Vale’s vineyards. This week we cover a variety of topics but specifically Karena discusses a failed business partnership and the importance of selecting the right financial partner for your restaurant as well as the importance of asking hard questions and developing honest and transparent communication with your team.If you're about to launch your own venue or aspire to in the future, this is an episode you can't afford to miss.https://salopian.com.auSalopian Inn on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/salopianinn/?hl=en#hospitalitygurus #restaurant #hospitalitypodcast #restaurantpodcast#culinaryhouse #foodandwine #foodandbeverage #bar #cafe #brewery #winery#foodandwine #foodblogger #newpodcast #newandnoteworthy#hospitalityconsultant #hospitalityconsulting #hospitalityconsultants#hospitalityexperts #podcast #foodpodcast
AL and Dee managed to get Shrewsbury music superstar Andy O'Brien out of his famous shed to come and chat with them. Andy discusses his love for music and where his passion comes from, his first experiences of wanting to sing live music in school and his Dad's chip shop. Andy is a Salopian through and through and it shows as he shows his appreciation for his home town. "It's a rare occasion when we can just sit back on The Biscuit and reminisce about the music we love so it was great to do that with Andy. He really is a superstar and we are lucky to have him here in Shrewsbury. Hopefully the world re-opens and my prophesy of 2021 being a massive year is true, because I know this guy will relish every second of it. What a great guest!" - AL

The beers are from Salopian, Polly's Brew Co, Yonder, Mccoll's Brewery, Atom Brewing Co, Lost and Grounded and the Brewdog x Evil Twin collab. The Shrewsbury Biscuit welcomes Charlie Adlard to the show. AL, Shane and Julie speak to Charlie, who is the co-creator of The Walking Dead, one of the best selling independent Comic-Books in the world. Charlie is not only an icon in the world of comic-books, but is a bit of a Shrewsbury legend (although he would modestly disagree). Despite his worldwide acclaim, Charlie is a proud Salopian and he works hard to inspire others. Whether it be his ambassadorial role at The Hive, helping organise the local Comics Salopia Festival with Shane Chebsey or appearing on plucky local podcasts (ahem!) We begin with how things began for Charlie and the journey that's taken him to the top of the comic-book food chain, including his own personal inspirations. We also find out how AL and Shane almost stumbled upon a worldwide exclusive of one of the most baller, mic drop moments in Comic-book history.
Glyn and Ollie are joined by Phil in the virtual studio to discuss the 3-0 defeat to Ipswich. Another frustrating game for the traveling Salopian's as the team fails to take their chances yet again but surprisingly concede three goals and have a daft lad sent off. Salop Salop

This week steve is on his holibobs so you get northern monkey. Enjoy
Thias weeks beer comes from a Brewery just down the road for Steve and Roland. Its a brewery we both know quite a bit about, and has an interesting idea of splitting into two breweries. This makes it a slightly longer version than normal. We hope you enjoy
The mighty Prince of Wales in Belle Vue, Shrewsbury, is the venue for the first pubcast with Kev and Johnty. The boys discover a wanking rabbit, meet a couple who have been embalming girl guides, and work out how they can sponsor the sex shop. It's all in a day's drinking for the Salopian warriors or fortune. Bottoms up and Enjoy.
