In this episode of Scrap Recap, we jump into Fairytale Week where the theme is whimsical, sparkly, a little chaotic - and some like it more than others. The Baking Scraps and the Fabulous Baker Boyz have plenty to say about the mix of magic and mayhem in the tent, especially when it comes to the smart strategies of the four incredible bakers who are left. There is excitement, confusion, and a lot of laughter as everyone puts in their take of a week that feels like stepping into a glitter-filled storybook.Things heat up with a colourful Signature and a Technical that leaves the whole panel talking. The textures, the timing, the tricky components, and the emotional moments give us a lot to unpack. There are jokes about the buzzwords that always seem to show up and appreciation for how hard it is to stay consistent when the pressure is on. It is one of those weeks where even the smallest details spark big reactions. The Showstopper sends the conversation into overdrive with ambitious concepts, wild ideas, and storybook structures that were pulled off beautifully. We give our own thoughts on moving pieces, towering designs, and the challenge of creating magic with limited tools. As we near the finale of Season 7, we celebrate milestone moments, reflect on the creativity in the tent, and agree that Fairytale Week delivered everything we love about this show. Hosted on Acast. Ali James is a fantastic mind in the improv world and I am so lucky to have been able to chat with her more. I not only love her style but her approach to improv. I am super interested in the work of Pretend Improv in London and she is the third co-producer in that company. You can catch Ali in The Play's the Thing, a super talented cast of Shakespearean improv actors. Their accents and cadance is on POINT. They really understand the tone and texture of the Bard. https://www.instagram.com/the.playsthethingimprov Of course you can catch her work as part of the fantastic Pretend Company. https://www.instagram.com/thepretendcompany/ And you can also catch her as a part of the award winning Showstoppers. https://showstopperthemusical.com/ Also ... something she announces in this episode is her role as director of the Improvathon in London! https://www.instagram.com/theimprovathon Ali James is all over improv. And is a positive force in the craft. Enjoy the interview!"
In this episode of Scrap Recap, we dive into Indulgence Week on The Great Canadian Baking Show, where luxury takes center stage and even the cherries glitter! We unpack all the lavish challenges, the creative flavor combinations, and all the high-stakes energy that comes with trying to make mini cheesecakes worthy of the title “indulgent.”We also get into the week's wild Technical Challenge, featuring the viral Dubai chocolate bar turned into a giant cookie. It's a bake that has us talking about textures, fillings, and just how over-the-top a single cookie can be. Vincent might actually be the only person alive who hadn't heard of the Dubai chocolate craze until now, but he's already planning to make his own kataifi to try it out. Steven, meanwhile, wants absolutely nothing to do with that plan. And once we get to chatting about the incredible details and thoughtfulness that went into the Showstopper (a CAKE-WRAPPED CAKE?? What is that even ABOUT?!), we can't help but marvel at how talented these bakers are. Every episode feels tighter than the last, and at this point, it's almost impossible to guess who might go home. Watching them create such detailed, imaginative bakes each week is inspiring, and saying goodbye never gets easier.By the end, we've covered all things indulgent: sparkle, skill, and the difficulty in seeing anyone go home. It's decadent, unpredictable, and totally Baking Scraps. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's Back to School Week in the Bake Off tent, and nostalgia is on the menu! From flapjacks in the Signature to a deceptively simple school cake with custard in the Technical, and a summer fête Showstopper packed with creativity, the bakers had plenty of lessons to learn. Join us as we break down the top marks, the near fails, and reveal who earned Star Baker — and who was sent home in Week Four.
Which is a bigger showstopper for a human Mars mission: food or radiation exposure? Does Vera Rubin leave any chance for aliens to still sneak upon us? Can something like space whales actually exist? And in Q&A+, when can we find out what dark matter and dark energy actually are?
Hour 3 kicks off with the team celebrating Kim St. Anh's upcoming second child and introducing Dan Buck as her temporary replacement, keeping the studio lively while sharing laughs over the “all-male” segment jokes. They move into top stories, including crime in D.C., economic updates, and the fallout from a state-run grocery store closure in Kansas City. Thomas Jipping of the Heritage Foundation joins to discuss a Virginia school allegedly assisting minors with abortions without parental consent, while Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick addresses the Francis Howell School District's financial mismanagement and the bizarre $240,000 payout to a superintendent who never worked. The hour closes with a spirited debate over the Minnesota Vikings' male cheerleaders performing the same dance routines as their female teammates, stirring fan outrage.
This week on The Snug Wrestling Podcast, the crew dives deep into the latest episode of Monday Night RAW—and trust us, it was a heater.
Lil bitz So I'm watching this is it I love Michael Jackson, So I have this movie queued up for a couple days And I finally get to watching it, And it's been a quiet few days So I'm watching this movie in like silence. And it's so eerie to watch Michael Jackson rehearse in this like full stadium for nobody at all— Almost like, telling of the actuality of him impending death— but I'm watching this, and I'm like, really into it, you know, paying attention to all the details, and it gets to the part, one of my favorite songs: And it's showing him rehearsing like Jam, and you know, it's one of my favorite songs so I know all the words, and he's dancing— going like 110% in rehearsal. I trained in dancing for a little bit— most people don't do that. In rehearsal it's usually conserving your energy and just about the mechanics of everything, you know, the rehearsals leading up are like “75-80%” you know the drill, you get it down, but you conserve your energy for the big rehearsals— the dress rehearsals and the opening nights and the entirety of the tour— you don't want to burn our. But not Michael Jackson. This dude is going 400% at rehearsal, everytime you see him, which is why he's the absolute catalyst of professionalism for performance. But I'm watching him rehearse this at full, max-level energy, and he's aiming “Jam! Jam!” And I'm thinking about how literally this is just before he died, and he's really going all-in singing “Jam! It ain't too much for me!” And I can't help thinking about the irony of this, is that… ‘Like, actually, it is.” Like it was too much for him… because he did this— And then died shortly after. So the irony, to me, was like “It ain't too much for me!” I'm like “Yes it is.” It was too much for him. I couldn't help but notice the irony. “It ain't too much for me!” “Yes it is Michael! Sit the fuck down” Or better yet, dawg— Lay down….(mwahaha) Said, Conrad. “Let's take a nap, shall we?” Too soon? Okay, I get that his death was ruled a homicide: But here's my reverse conspiracy theory. I don't think he was murdered. I think he was ‘exited' No, not executed, “exited” Like, after all that, Michael was just like “ok , i'm getting off here. that's…that's enough.” Or like, we already knew he was immortal and wasn't gonna die anyway, of like, just natural causes. “Might as well make it a spectacle.” “This is it!” (lol that joke still works 15 years later, I guess. The movie is on youtube for free right now so, it's relevant. Its relevant.) {Enter The Multiverse} Every time I stick my hand in the middle of a papaya I wish I had a dick so I could warm it up and fuck it. Top Ten Best Fruits of All Time to be fair, I wrote the papaya joke before continuing my obsession with michael jackson in the monumental comic atrocity. Fair. You'd have to warm it up, though. He said, “Don't say shit” To this day it still don't make sense She didn't give a whisper, Slick tongue, six-nine Try dialogue but nothing she could try to find in time, And so, he counts from one to five and with the lies had come down to talk With the conclusion that after all, She couldn't do this And the story once to be told Now was none I dream in beforehand Secrets and premonitions Now you don't need me, I seek to bleed, sequence Ten seconds, initiated in the heartfire Words now? None I never thought of Before now, Now come. lol remember when Skrillex followed me to Brooklyn? Lol. Didn't I hide in a closet? I don't remember. Did I hide in the closet? What made me look that up? Curiosity killed the cat. Where the fuck is my cat, anyway? Atticus Catticus? The truth is, I think Skrillex might just be one cold hard murderer; I think Sonny hides behind his good looks and non subtle genius— I think I hide my eyes, cause I can't find them; The original pair went into the air, With The Rock And The Kite, And with all the despair in the world I like peaches and pears, After all, This is no random circumstances That you might have canned them, Then a penny for a power Just to recind how I did spend My last hour. Don't worry about that! I don't! Don't look and don't touch! I didn't! Don't gawk and don't talk back; I can't. I never quite abandoned anything so quite as badly As my own Cuban sandwhich Back in the cabbana, BRIAN CRANSTON Howdy partner! Goddammit, not right now! BRIAN CRANSTON If not now— WHEN? I don't know when!! Okay?! BRIAN CRANSTON No, not okay! I'm not okay! Well, why? What? BRIAN CRANSTON I'm not okay! BRIAN CRANSTON is not okay . Let's just be honest about this unforgiving all out brawl between JUSTIN BIEBER and DEADMAU5 (JOEL ZIMMERMAN) being the trailer park trash event of the century. Oh by what fate have these circumstances foreseen us in such a miserable and yet alluring place To that which these two Canadians, Throughout time and dust marked one another as arch rivals, To have become Neighbors to one another In this, a barren swamp land. lol so from what I'm understanding Uh huh . Justin Bieber and like this deadmau5 guy are like—rivals, right— All time rivals— But in this parallel they actually Oh no, they live next door to each other in the trailer park. WHAT? Yeah. Those two guys. A SHOTGUN rings out through the bayou. Oh. That's— Yeah . This will be easy to do with cut-takes. Cause I think they actually don't get along. Who knows though? An extraordinary day's cricket as this epic series headed to a climax, with an unexpected shower leaving England needing 35 to win the match and the series with four wickets in hand. Highlight of the day was Harry Brook's flamboyant hundred, an innings speckled with genius and audacity. he and Joe Root transformed the game with a nerveless and fluent 195 run partnership which totally knocked the stuffing out of India. Their dismissals let India back into the game. Simon Hughes and Simon Mann report on a breathtaking day as England sought the second highest run-chase in their history. Claire Pedrick and Andrew Cain are in conversation about why improv skills make great coaches. They discuss how stepping into the unknown can lead to discovery, the importance of partnership in coaching, and the value of creating a playful and open environment for breakthroughs. Andrew shares his journey into improv and how it has shaped his approach to coaching, the need to unlearn perfectionism and how to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process. Key Takeaways: Improv allows us to step into the unknown and discover new insights. Some lessons can only be learned through experience, not books. Going into a liminal space can lead to valuable discoveries. Coaching is about partnering with people in their journey of not knowing. Breakthroughs in coaching often come from playful exploration. Treating people as poets and geniuses fosters creativity. Everything in improv is disposable, allowing for flexibility. Creating space for emergence is crucial in coaching. Unlearning perfectionism opens up new possibilities. Mistakes should be embraced as part of the learning process. Sound Bites: "Improv helps us step into not knowing." "We can't learn everything from a book." "There's value in going into the liminal space." "Discovery means partnering with them in not knowing." "Everything is disposable in improv." "Improv is about unlearning rather than adding more." "Breakthroughs in coaching are not linear." We were Live with my good friend, 2x Emmy nominee, Gary Stockdale. What a joy after a long void. Pre-pandemic, it seems we saw each other everywhere, and often. COVID changed life. A lot. We talked about that and how both of us have Facebook Lives born out of necessity. You'd think with our combined expertise, it would be smooth sailing. You'd think. Tech glitches messed with Gary's fine art… his singing/playing and songwriting, which we were challenged to present, but Gary persevered and did treat us to two songs from his new musical, Showstopper, and an a cappella treat to take us out that I won't spoil. Gary took us back to his early days in Glendale, musical theatre at LA City College, his mentor Henry Mancini, Penn & Teller for whom he scored for 25 years. There was Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Aristocrats, Spongebob Square Pants, and lot of Gary music along the way to discuss. Even with the challenges, it was a fun, relaxed ride down Gary's memory lane. The kind of conversation that happens between friends. Lovely. And Gary's voice… I don't know how it's possible, but he sounds even more incredible than ever. What a gorgeous voice, and what an amazing songwriter! After a particularly crap day, this time with Gary truly healed my weary soul. Jim and Goodey unpack a massive weekend of rugby, starting with Quins pulling off their first away win over Saracens in 13 years at The Showdown in front of 54,000 fans — and with a few famous faces in the crowd too. Jim spills the beans on the London craic and post-match scenes, while the lads debate what went right for Quins and wrong for Sarries. There's more drama in the Prem as Leicester smash Saints, Bath flex against Glos, and Bristol and Exeter set a new record with ten first-half tries. We also head stateside for a cracking chat with Peter Bernick, co-owner of the Chicago Hounds, who lifts the lid on building rugby in the US, the upcoming United States of Rugby doc, and how MLR is gearing up for RWC 2031. Plus, the Bulls break Leinster's unbeaten URC streak, Fin Smith to Toulouse rumours, and the lads react to a rabbit punch and a big shout to Rassie's new pod — all that and more. Our last stop at the ShowStoppers event at CES in Las Vegas was one we look forward to every year. Larry O'Connor, Founder and CEO of Other World Computing (OWC) talked about all things Thunderbolt 5. OWC just introduced their new Thunderbolt 5 cable capable of 40 GB data transfer and has complete backward compatibility with earlier versions of Thunderbolt. Larry gave us an education about why the order and types of devices could actually slow them down in pre-Thunderbolt 5 configurations, and how to avoid the problem with their recently-released Thunderbolt 5 hub. The PLAUD table at ShowStoppers at CES in Las Vegas was tough to get to because of the interested crowds…and it shows in our interview with Elina Tsao, Head of Brand Center. People keep sticking their heads into our shot as Elina explained how their PLAUD NOTE and NotePin capture the audio of your conversations, then transcribes it and even summarizes it via AI. Both feature a generous free package of time, encrypted communication with AI in the cloud, and a very specific activation to help make others around you comfortable with when they are and are not being recorded.
