Just as Psalm 1 gives us the purpose of the Book of Psalms, Psalm 2 reveals the message of the Psalms: that no matter what is happening in our lives or world, God is on His throne, and He invites us to live as citizens of His eternal Kingdom. Through this messianic psalm of hope, we discover how we can respond to world around us with confidence and compassion, trusting that Jesus is King and is coming again!

As you come to the end of each of the gospel accounts in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you find the world coming together against Christ. Jews, Gentiles, Pharisees, Herodians, the religious and even criminals gathered in rejection of Christ. The diversity of the world united in one thought: they didn’t want Christ as their King. They rejected Him and killed Him, and it begs a question. This question is one that they had to ask themselves, and at some point, each of us must ask ourselves: who is Jesus? This week as we continue our series “Prophecy Fulfilled,” we will turn our attention to Psalm 2. This psalm is a coronation psalm for a king, and according to all the New Testament writers, it finds its fulfillment in one person. I pray you will join us this weekend as we look to the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Jesus Christ!

Pastor David Walt introduces our guest speaker today, Ryan Denton, Director of "Christ In The Wild Ministries". Ryan brings a message very relevant for today from the Psalms, Chapter 2. Listen as he contrasts holiness and evil and how God loves one but hates the other. Indeed the kings of the earth are setting themselves, and the rulers are taking counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed at great peril! By they’re doing so, they’re effectively laying the wood before their Sovereign whose wrath is quickly kindled! No! They must kiss the Son! They must take refuge in Him!

Why do the heathen rage? They don't have God in their lives. Parents are not teaching their children self respect or respect for God. Now there are no morals. People are attacking others, etc. To God there are none good, no not one (Romans). Lost people do what lost people do. Should we expect different from them? They're bitter. The majority of people today are lost, angry, and bitter. Their feet are swift to shed blood. We are seeing this now days. Over 700 police officers have been attacked in this year alone. It all comes from the point of that we have raised two generations without respect for God. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Comes to it because there is no fear of God. People aren't afraid of God because God has never done to them what He could do to them if He wanted to (Sodom and Gomorrah, the Flood). The God we serve is not the God that they serve. In the end, we win.

As we look ahead to the presidential election later this week, does the Bible have anything to say to the next president, whomever that may be? Does it have anything to say to leaders at every level of government? The answer is a resounding "Yes!". Regardless of who is in the Whitehouse, God sits enthroned in Heaven on high.
The natural inclination of man's heart is to be his own ruler, his own god. But sinful man has no moral authority or inclination to claim the right to rule in place of the true King, Jesus Christ who has demonstrated himself worthy in all things.
We exist to ignite a passion in every person to glorify and enjoy God everywhere and in everything.

Our mission at Community Church of Greenwood is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live in full devotion to Him. We want to help people far from God to experience new life in Jesus Christ.
Next Steps: Remind yourself that Jesus is always with you, no matter what you’re going through, because He is the one who has authority over heaven and earth as the Son of God. Share with others that there is a new King, who is different and better than any human power.

1. Jesus asks us to make disciples of all nations 2. A disciple is not just a follower of Jesus, but a follower of Jesus' teachings. 3. Every believer should do their part in mission by doing the following: * Going: some people are called to go mission field. * Giving: It cost money to reach the world for Christ * Praying: We should pray for those in mission 4. We can all play our part. God is looking for our availability not our ability.
