In this episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Brandon talks with Eagle about escaping her abusive relationship. At first, Eagle was smitten by her future husband, but that quickly changed, as Eagle soon found herself walking on eggshells around him. The most confusing part for Eagle was the good times vs. the bad times, as there were good times. It created a cognitive dissonance, making it much more difficult for Eagle to leave. It's a story of rage, grandiosity, stonewalling, putdowns, plausible deniability, grandiosity, isolation, walking on eggshells, ptsd, support, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, relationship dynamics, self-esteem, disordered eating, financial control, physical abuse, mental health, therapy, coping mechanisms, personal growth, escape plans, depression, anxiety, intimidation, and the healing process. *** CONTENT WARNING - This episode discusses physical abuse and suicidal ideation. *** If you want to be a guest on our survivor story podcast, please click here or send us an email at narcissistapocalypse@gmail.com PODCAST RECOMMENDATIONS: Perfect Prey With Dr. Christine Cocchiola | Click Here The Covert Narcissism Podcast | Click Here Something Was Wrong | Click Here When Dating Hurts Podcast | Click Here If you or someone you know are experiencing abuse, you are not alone. New research shows a college degree still pays off for most graduates, Illinois' largest waterpark gears up for a new season, and we explore the importance of learning to swim at a young age.
Scott and Jessica break down the chaos surrounding Trump's economic and immigration agendas. First, they dive into Trump's trade war U-turn: after rattling global markets, he's hit pause on his “reciprocal” tariff strategy—everywhere but China. They unpack what this 90-day freeze actually means and whether there's any real strategy behind the whiplash. Next, they turn to Congress, where Trump's legislative priorities are moving forward—but not without serious drama. With deep Medicaid cuts, clean energy rollbacks, and massive tax extensions on the table, are Republicans undermining their own voters just to make the numbers work? And finally, the administration's deportation crackdown takes a disturbing turn—adding undocumented immigrants to a federal "death" list and triggering a legal showdown with El Salvador. Everything about Chris Farley was larger than life. His comedy, his laughs, the risks he took in front of a live studio audience – they were all bigger than anyone else's. So were his appetites. Not just for performance, but for life. He plowed through a plate glass window, 15 stories above downtown Chicago. He was kicked out of college for burning down a girl's house. He disappeared with two Playboy models in Los Angeles and woke up the next morning in Hawaii. He modeled his career on an iconic dead comedian – even following the comic's path, straight to an early grave. EP:132 As a former "raging people pleaser", I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly put others' needs before your own. I used to do everything for everyone, to the point where I was absolutely drowning. I'd say yes to things I had no time or energy for, shy away from difficult conversations, and never accept help - all in the pursuit of being the "perfect" mom, wife, friend, and professional. But I've learned that your purpose in life isn't to serve others - it's to live and enjoy your life fully, on your own terms. It takes courage to stop being a chameleon and start being your authentic self. I had to shed a lot of old relationships and communities that didn't accept the real me. But surrounding myself with my "people" - those who love and support me unconditionally - has been so freeing. Now I use my values as a compass, being honest about what I want and need, even if it means setting boundaries that ruffle some feathers. I've realized that being honest and assertive isn't the same as being unkind or selfish. It's about having the courage to show up as your true self. Overcoming people-pleasing isn't easy, but it's so worth it for your mental health and personal fulfillment. Start small, be patient with yourself, and remember - you are worthy, even if it means ruffling a few feathers.
