In April, 2010, we did a segment on the concept of the mesofact, a certain kind of data point that feels fixed even though it’s actually always slowly changing. And we’ve gone back to the idea every now and again ever since. This hour, a look at three things about the world that changed pretty dramatically while you were thinking about other stuff. Hey, did you know there’s a fifth ocean now? Hey, did you know that you can put hot food right into your fridge now? Hey, did you know that goldfish are actually pretty smart? Those kinds of things. If you've ever gone through something that changed you so completely that the language of “getting back to normal” started to feel almost insulting, this episode is for you. Vanessa explores initiation as the kind of rupture that does not return us to who we were, but reorganizes the self entirely. Through rites of passage, liminality, trauma, witness, and the loss of ritual in modern life, we look at why some experiences are not interruptions to the old life, but thresholds into another one. The invitation is to stop measuring healing by whether you can become who you were before, and begin asking what kind of life can be built around who you are now.For educational purposes only. This isn't therapy.Early applications for the next cohort of Inner Compass Academy are now open to the waitlist only.If you've been feeling called toward deeper work with depth psychology, shadow, somatics, the unconscious, relational patterns, and learning how to hold space with more consciousness and integrity, this is the first window to apply. The early application window is only open for one week. This is what it is to be a human. Some of it good, some of it better to resist. But it's the rhythm of life, the bleeding of eras, one into the other.

Pastor Harold from Little Falls Christian Centre in South Africa shares a powerful message on faith, vision, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Drawing from Habakkuk 2, he reminds us that God's vision always comes to pass in His perfect timing. Our calling is to remain faithful, endure with perseverance, and continue believing even when we cannot yet see the fulfillment. This sermon explores how God still speaks to His people, the authority every believer has in Christ, the power of praying in the Holy Spirit, and the importance of responding quickly to God's leading. As we seek Him in prayer and walk together in unity, He strengthens us, reveals His purposes, and equips us to accomplish the vision He has placed before us. Scripture References: • Habakkuk 2:1 to 3 • Job 33:14 to 16 • Isaiah 55:8 to 11 • Ephesians 6:10 to 18 • Jude 1:20 • Luke 10:19

Why does trust become even more important in a world shaped by AI?In episode 270 of At The Table, Patrick Lencioni, Cody Thompson, and Matthew Lencioni discuss how much the workplace has changed across generations, from voicemail lights and computer labs to AI and virtual work. While the tools, speed, and structure of work have changed dramatically, they argue that trust, teamwork, clarity, and healthy culture have not changed at all. As technology becomes more accessible and commoditized, the episode argues that organizational health may be a greater competitive advantage than ever.Topics explored in this episode: (00:00) Technology Changes, But Leadership Doesn'tPat introduces the idea that the fundamentals of great relationships, teams, families, and organizations have not changed, even as technology has transformed work.Pat and Cody preview the episode's core question: how much has work changed, and how much have leadership and organizational health stayed the same?(03:32) Remembering the Pre-Digital WorkplacePat describes starting work in 1987 with no email, no internet, no cell phones, and only a corded desk phone with a voicemail light. The conversation explores how slower communication, physical meetings, paper reports, and travel-heavy work shaped the way companies operated.(07:15) The Shift Into Computers, Email, and AICody reflects on his own early work experience with computer labs, Excel spreadsheets, landlines, and in-person college admissions fairs.Pat and Cody discuss how quickly technology has accelerated, especially as AI now allows people to do work that once required specialized technical knowledge.(11:21) Why Organizational Health Matters More NowPat explains that dysfunction used to spread more slowly, but today, technology can magnify unhealthy behavior more quickly. The conversation turns to culture, trust, leadership, and teamwork as increasingly important differentiators in a world where products and information are easier to copy.(16:06) The Future Hunger for Human ConnectionCody and Pat discuss how trust, nonverbal communication, healthy conflict, and interpersonal connection remain essential even in a virtual and technology-driven workplace.Matthew Lencioni joins the conversation to share his perspective on work, generational differences, and why in-person connection still matters. This episode of At The Table with Patrick Lencioni is brought to you by The Table Group: https://www.tablegroup.com. “Every conversation has the potential to open up and reveal all the layers and layers within it, all those rooms within rooms," says musician and host of the beloved podcast Song Exploder, Hrishikesh Hirway. In this profoundly moving talk from 2022, he offers a guide to deep conversations and explores what you learn when you take that same kind of close listening we often give to music, and turn it toward people.A lot has changed for Hrishikesh since this popular talk was released, and after more than a decade helping other artists tell their stories and helping us think about listening in new ways, he's got a new solo album that just came out, called In the Last Hour of Light, which he describes as a memoir of sorts. Elise Hu, host of TED Talks Daily, caught up with him earlier this month to talk about his new album, how his ideas about listening have evolved since his talk, and what his own creative process looks like today. They also do a mini Song Exploder of sorts to take a peak into Hrishikesh's own songwriting process, breaking down one of the new songs on this album, "Things Change, Even Now," (co-written with Vagabon), which is shared in full at the end of the episode. This episode originally aired in 2022. The interview was recorded in April 2026.Learn more about our flagship conference happening this April at attend.ted.com/podcast Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In superhero movies, every hero has something unique that makes them powerful, but they do not discover their strength alone and they do not use it randomly. They learn what their power is, how it works, and how it impacts the people they are trying to protect. Marriage is very similar. Each spouse has different emotional needs, different ways they feel loved, and different “super powers” they bring into the relationship.I shared how for many husbands, when a wife initiates affection or makes him feel desired, it is like his entire world shifts. It strengthens his confidence, connection, and emotional bond. For wives, when a husband steps in and says “I've got it” without her having to carry everything alone, it feels like emotional relief, safety, and love. It is like someone stepping in to carry the weight of her “battle,” even for a moment. These small actions often speak louder than words ever could.Think of it like superheroes working together on a team. One hero might have strength, another might have speed, another might have the ability to protect or heal. If they all try to operate the same way, the team falls apart. But when they understand each other's strengths and work together intentionally, they become unstoppable. Marriage works the same way. When spouses learn each other's emotional “powers” and love languages, and then intentionally use them, the relationship becomes stronger, safer, and more connected. This is where love as an action really comes in. Just like superheroes do not just say they will save people, they actually show up and act, love in marriage has to be lived out in real ways. It is expressed through words, service, affection, support, and emotional presence that is tailored to what your spouse actually needs. In this episode, we talk about both sides of this, how masculinity and femininity play into these “super powers,” and how understanding your spouse's emotional needs and love language can completely transform your connection. When couples stop guessing and start intentionally loving each other in the way their spouse actually receives love, marriage stops feeling like a struggle and starts feeling like a team working in sync.If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. Nick is joined by food writer and horror fan Marnie Shure to talk food, movies, and a few unexpected topics along the way. Marnie kicks things off with her monthly Horror Report, where she and Nick get into Send Help and Undertone. From there, she shares some insight into what makes Kikkoman's soy sauce work, offers tips on saving money on produce, and talks about the upcoming Mortified show in April, which will benefit the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee. Later, Esmeralda Leon joins Nick to revisit a couple of overlooked films, including Things Change with Don Ameche and Capricorn One starring James Brolin. That conversation somehow turns into a deep dive on some of the more unconventional sex symbols of the 70s, with Elliott Gould, Donald Sutherland, and a whole era of shaggy, cigarette-smoking leading men getting their moment.
