Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone. The Bible is the sole written divine revelation, our only infallible rule for faith and life, and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely. (Matthew 4:4; 2 Timothy. 3:16-17).2. Sola Fide – Faith Alone.Justification is by faith alone. By God's free grace, the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to us by faith and is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are pardoned (Romans 5:1; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians. 2:8-10).3. Solus Christus – Christ Alone.Jesus Christ is the only mediator through Whose work we are redeemed (John 14:6; John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:30-33)4. Sola Gratia – Grace Alone. Our salvation rests solely on the work of God's grace for us (Romans 2:4; Ephesians. 2:8-10).5. Soli Deo Gloria – To God Alone be Glory.Salvation is of God and has been accomplished by God, therefore to God alone belongs the glory (Isaiah 42:8; Colossians 3:17).
Providential People | Sola Gratia (Grace Alone) | Ephesians 2:1-10 | Kort Marley by Providence Community Church
Welcome to the sermon podcast of Trinity Church of Portland. This week, we continued our current sermon series, Light After Darkness: A Sermon Series on the Five Solas. In the midst of the Advent season, when traditions and cultural expectations often take center stage, Light in the Darkness invites us to return to the Gospel's true meaning through the Reformation's Five Solas: Scripture Alone, Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Christ Alone, and God's Glory Alone. These foundational truths reveal the hope, peace, and joy that Jesus—the Light of the World—brought into our darkness. Join us as we root ourselves in God's Word, celebrate the gift of grace, and remember the Savior who transforms and fuels our worship. In our sermon this morning we looked at Sola Gratia, Grace Alone, from Romans 3:21-26. We saw that what people cannot do for themselves, which is to be perfectly righteous before a holy God, God has done for them through sending His Son the Lord Jesus to redeem us from our sin and to give us His righteousness, taking away the wrath we as sinners justly deserved. God does this based not on anything we can do, but based on His grace which is a free gift. This truth should cause each of us to avoid anything we may be holding on to that even hints at works righteousness. This truth should make your heart sing and give you renewed purpose, identity, community, a greater desire for holiness, and gospel hope in the new creation as you seek to live for Christ all the days that he gives you.
Protestantism is built upon "Five Solas." "Sola" is Latin for "alone," and so the battle cry of the Reformation became: Sola Scriptura ("Scripture Alone"), Sola Fide ("Faith Alone"), Sola Gratia ("Grace Alone"), Solus Christus ("Christ Alone"), Soli Deo Gloria ("Glory to God Alone"). The Reformers intended these to be a refutation of Catholicism, and Protestant apologists today think of them as Kryptonite to the Catholic Church. But in this conversation from a few years ago, Greg and Cory take them on one-by-one. Support this ministry so more people can consider Catholicism! Chad Cunningham continues our series on the five solas focusing on Sola Gratia (Grace alone).

Solas of the Reformation- Sola Gratia -Grace Alone- - Pastor Henry Johnson
Solas of the Reformation: Sola Gratia (Grace Alone) - Pastor Henry Johnson
Andy Moore delivers the message at Restoration Community Church. He continues a series looking at the five solas, the primary theological statements of the Reformation. The fourth statement is sola gratia: grace alone. Passages: Ephesians 2:8-9
This is the fourth in a series of talks on the solas of the Reformation. This talk discusses the semi-Pelagian controversy and the Council of Orange, and how that connects to the Lutheran Reformation.
What does Martin Luther, Rick Hale, and Bing Crosby have in common? Not only are all three good looking and smell nice, people pay attention to what they have to say at Christmas! With apologies to Bing, Rick borrows from the famous Latin phrases of the Reformers to frame Christmas in its purity: Sola Fide: Faith Alone; Sola Gratia: Grace Alone; Sola Scriptura: Scripture Alone, and this week: Sola Christus: Christ Alone. It seems obvious, doesn't it? Don't we sing about it? "Joy to the World the Savior reigns ..." or "O come let us adore him Christ the Lord ... " or "Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today ..."? French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal gave us a warning: "Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it." Yours in Christ: Pastoral Letters from Resurrection, State College
Welcome to Yours in Christ, Pastoral Letters from Resurrection in State College, Pennsylvania. I'm Pastor Zach Simmons, and this is letter number 36, “Sola Gratia: Grace Alone.” This is the first in a series on the five “solas” of the Reformation leading up to Reformation Day on October 31st—the five hundred and fourth anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his ninety-five theses to the church door of Wittenberg in 1517. To read this letter, visit https://resurrectionopc.org/sola-gratia-grace-alone/. For more Yours in Christ installments, go to resurrectionopc.org/letters.
The doctrine of grace is important for protecting God's initiative - He reaches out to us and gives us everything we need to respond to Him. Everything Christ is and did was sufficient to pay for sin and human inability in salvation. There is nothing any human can do to earn salvation at all. Ever. Grace: It is primarily described as being ‘in Christ' and ‘through faith'.Episode Notes:https://www.catholic.com/tract/grace-what-it-is-and-what-it-does (Fair warning - we reference this article because its wrong)Luke 15:11–32 - Prodigal Son ParableTim Keller The Prodigal GodGrace Alone - Kings Kaleidoscope **** CORRECTION - originally written by Dustin Kensrue
Salvation is Not a Human Achievement (Romans 3:23) Grace is the Cause of Salvation (Romans 5:8) God's Grace to Man is in Christ (Philippians 2:6-11)
Karma says we get what we deserve—do good and you'll get good in return, be a selfish jerk and somehow the universe will find a way to crush you. Grace isn't like that at all. Grace is a completely unique Jesus idea. Grace says we get what we don't deserve—we get life, blessing, hope and all of God's love. We don't get what we deserve, we get what Jesus deserves—just because He says so. Grace awakens grace. Ephesians 2:1-10
Grace is sheer gift. To say that we are saved by ‘grace alone' is to admit the humbling reality that God owes us nothing (except just punishment for sin), and yet in Christ lavishes the undeserving with the immeasurable riches of His kindness! Not because of anything admirable about us or any good work done by us, but because of Jesus' work on the cross for us. It can never be earned, only received as a gift.
