In Jude's closing benediction, we're given one of the most stabilizing promises in all of Scripture: God is able to keep you from stumbling (Jude 1:24). In this episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains why saving faith is not only God's gift—but also God's sustaining work. You are not kept by fear-driven performance; you are kept by Christ's faithful power. Dr. Youssef brings this promise to life through the imagery behind Jude's words: Jewish wedding traditions. In betrothal, the groom would seal the commitment with a costly dowry—then return home to prepare a place—then come again for his bride with joyful announcement. In the same way, Jesus—our Bridegroom—paid the highest price with His own blood, returned to the Father to prepare a place, and will come again. And when He does, He will present His redeemed bride without blemish or stain, declaring what His cross and resurrection accomplished. This devotional strengthens believers living in dark seasons of apostasy and pressure: keep your eyes on the future Christ secured. When you feel weak, unstable, or tempted to spiral into “trying harder,” remember the Truth—Jesus is holding you up. He will keep you from falling. Prayer: Father, help me to rest in the Truth that You will never let me go. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “[T]o the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 1:25). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. The Readings for Today's Homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/reading...Father Mark Baron, MIC, reflects on John 17:11b-19, where Jesus prays that His disciples may be consecrated in truth. To be consecrated means to be made holy — set apart for God's will. Through Baptism, Christ gives us a supernatural life and calls us to respond with our own “yes” to the Father, living in love, truth, and surrender to the Word of God. ★ Support this podcast ★
If you were standing in that ancient courtyard on Friday morning, where would you have been? Would you have stood up for justice for your Savior, or would you have been right there with the crowd, shouting "Crucify Him!"? As we look at John 19:1-24, we see the unrighteous judgment of the Righteous Judge. Jesus is the King of kings, sovereign over all, who will one day judge the living and the dead. Yet here, as the all-sufficient suffering servant, He is handed over to sinful men in an absolute mockery of a trial. Our initial thought is always, "I would never do that. I would never reject King Jesus." But my encouragement to you is this: I think you think too highly of yourself. When we look at the depravity and the sinfulness in our own hearts, we have to ask the hard question: "Are we still headlong in our sin, rejecting His claims, His person, and His majesty today?" What We Cover Today The Sadistic Mockery & The Flogging: We look at the brutal severity of the beating Jesus suffered. We see the cruel humor of the Roman soldiers shoving a crown of thorns into His skull and wrapping Him in a rag of royal purple, completely unaware of before whom they stood. The Greater Sin of Knowing the Truth: Jesus told Pilate that the ones who handed Him over had the greater sin. The principle is clear: To whom much is given, much is required. What does it mean for us if we know the most about Christianity, but stay the furthest from it? Are we in the greatest danger? "We Have No King But Caesar": We look at the chilling pinnacle of Jewish rebellion. These leaders hated Rome, yet to get rid of Jesus, they traded God the Father for a pagan emperor. Who is the real king ruling your heart when no one is looking? Sovereignly in Control: Even when the world looks completely out of hand, God is in control. From the Roman soldiers playing dice and casting lots for His seamless tunic, every single detail was prophesied hundreds of years prior in Psalm 22. None of this caught God by surprise. 04:39 – The Severe Flogging & Sadistic Mockery of the Soldiers 09:00 – Pilate's Failed Attempt to Meet in the Middle 11:51 – A Rattled Governor 15:10 – God's Sovereignty Over Wicked Governments 18:54 – Examining Our Danger 23:00 – The History of Israel's Disastrous Rebellion 26:30 – Golgotha & The Prophecy of the Seamless Tunic 28:15 – Reaching Out to God While He is Near Where Are You Hiding Your Rebellion? Are you like the chief priests, hiding your rebellion in religious hypocrisy? You wear the right clothes, you say the right words, you pray the right prayers, and you give the right amount of money—but it's just religious attire covering up a heart that rejects His authority. Are you like Pilate, just wanting to do whatever makes your life the easiest? Do God's standards and God's rules get in the way of your fun, your desires, and your plans? Are you pursuing your own comfort above the truth? Are you like the Roman soldiers, with an obvious, hardened heart, finding joy in rebelling against the Lord? Hear this warning: Walking in rebellion against God is like walking toward the edge of a cliff with a blindfold on. You know the cliff is out there somewhere, but when you finally find it, it's too late. God is gracious, and His grace is extended to you moment after moment, step after step. But there is a point of no return. Why keep testing the limits of God's patience? Why keep walking blindly toward the edge? Reach out to God while He is near. Call out to Him today while you still have breath in your lungs. He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and He gave His life so that your rebellion could be forgiven. Read OnlineGiving Bold WitnessJesus said to his disciples: “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.” John 15:26–27The Last Supper Discourse spans from Chapters 13–17 in John's Gospel, making it Jesus' longest continuous teaching in the Gospels. While Chapter 13 begins with Jesus washing the disciples' feet and teaching humility, it also introduces the promise of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate. Today's Gospel begins a deeper teaching on the role of the Holy Spirit, a theme we will explore further as we approach the Solemnity of Pentecost in less than two weeks. The role of the Holy Spirit in this passage is twofold. First, the Holy Spirit is identified as the Spirit of Truth Who will testify to the disciples on Jesus' behalf. To testify is to bear witness to the truth. A witness in a court of law testifies under oath to safeguard the truthfulness of his or her statement. Even more so, the Holy Spirit's testimony, spoken deep within the conscience of every soul aligned with God's will, brings with it moral certitude. When the Holy Spirit speaks, we know what He says is true. This is how we arrive at the certitude of faith in Jesus as our Savior and in the truthfulness of all He taught.Second, Jesus says, “You also testify.” The Holy Spirit not only testifies to Jesus but also equips the disciples to give testimony about Him to the world. This testimony, as Jesus explains, will not be without cost: “They will expel you from the synagogues; in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he is offering worship to God” (John 16:2). Jesus warns His disciples of this coming hostility so they “may not fall away.” The Holy Spirit will enable them to testify courageously, even in the face of persecution. This assurance was essential for the early Church and remains vital for believers today as we navigate a world often resistant to the Gospel. The testimony we must give as Christians is rooted in proclaiming the Truth: Jesus is the one and only way to the Father. He alone offers the forgiveness of sins and the gift of salvation. Without turning to Him, we cannot be saved. In addition to this central message, we must testify to the supporting truths of our faith through both word and action. Faithful attendance at Mass is essential. Confession restores us to grace. Daily prayer draws us closer to God. Mortal sin destroys our union with Him, and Hell is a sobering reality. But the hope of Heaven shines brightly for all who embrace God's mercy and live in His grace. Penance helps us overcome habitual sin. We are called to love our neighbor, pray for those who persecute us, forgive every offense, and show boundless mercy, even to the most unlovable. Ultimately, we are called to lay down our lives for others in imitation of Christ.Only the Holy Spirit can equip us with understanding and courage to give this testimony wholeheartedly. Without the Spirit, we are incapable of being faithful witnesses to God's truth and love. Just as Jesus prepared His disciples for their mission, He now calls us to prepare ourselves through prayer and reliance on the Holy Spirit's guidance. To be a witness is to be a martyr in the broadest sense, with a willingness to live a life of sacrificial love, imitating Christ's offering on the Cross. This is the greatest testimony we can give to a world in need of salvation.Reflect today on the ways the Holy Spirit might be calling you to give witness to Christ. Are there moments when fear or complacency holds you back from testifying to the truth? Pray for the courage and grace to live boldly as His witness. To be used by God is the greatest honor we can receive. Embrace that honor by allowing the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, to dwell in you and bear witness through you that Jesus is the Savior of the world and the sole path to eternal life. Most Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, please come to me and make Your dwelling within me so that I will know the Truth and be set free. In that freedom, please use me to testify on Jesus' behalf that He is the Savior of the World and that only through Him can we receive eternal life. May I be a witness to these and every truth You wish to speak through me. Jesus, I trust in You. Mark 7:1-30 1 Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem, 2 they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly,[a] holding to the tradition of the elders, 4 and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash.[b] And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.[c]) 5 And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?” 6 And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; 7 in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' 8 You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” 9 And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother'; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.' 11 But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”' (that is, given to God)[d]— 12 then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.” What Defiles a Person 14 And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”[e] 17 And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. 18 And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?”[f] (Thus he declared all foods clean.) 20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” The Syrophoenician Woman's Faith 24 And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon.[g] And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden. 25 But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell down at his feet. 26 Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27 And he said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.” 28 But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.” 29 And he said to her, “For this statement you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter.” 30 And she went home and found the child lying in bed and the demon gone. LESSON NOTES Tradition vs. Commandment (Mark 7:1-13) The Conflict: Pharisees and teachers of the law criticize the disciples for eating with "unwashed hands"—a ritual tradition, not a command from God. The Absurdity: The Pharisees focused on hand-washing rituals even while witnessing Jesus perform miraculous healings. The Danger of "Corban": Jesus highlights how human traditions can actually be used to bypass God's commands, such as using religious dedication as an excuse to avoid caring for aging parents. The Source of Defilement (Mark 7:14-23) Outer vs. Inner: Jesus teaches that nothing entering from the outside defiles a person; rather, defilement comes from what is already inside the heart. The Heart's Inventory: Evil thoughts, greed, malice, and arrogance all originate within and are what truly make a person "unclean". The World's Unluckiest Bear: The story of the albino grizzly bear (and the fact that the story itself was a hoax) illustrates how easily we are fooled by outward appearances and how quickly we judge others based on surface-level information. A Surprising Model of Faith (Mark 7:24-30) The Syrophoenician Woman: Outwardly, she was "unclean" by every cultural standard—a Gentile woman with a daughter possessed by an unclean spirit. The Contrast: While the "religiously perfect" Pharisees and the chosen disciples failed to understand Jesus, this "unclean" woman demonstrated profound faith and humility. The Result: She recognized Jesus' authority (calling him "Lord") and her daughter was healed because of her faith-filled response. Application Avoid "Externalism": Be careful not to turn people into "issues" or "projects" based on their outward behavior. Hold Traditions Loosely: We must be willing to let Jesus' word contradict our habits and preferences. Practice Inner Formation: Confession: Engaging in the discipline of confessing sins to one another to bring the heart into the light. Spiritual Disciplines: Intentional practices like prayer to shape our inner selves. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Ice Breaker: Based on the sermon's opening poll, are you "Team Cadbury Egg" or "Team Reese's Egg"? If you had to pick one "compound coating" or fake version of a food you love that you absolutely cannot stand, what would it be? Have you ever been disappointed upon discovering the ingredients of something? Discussion Questions: Tradition vs. Truth: Jesus used the example of "Corban" to show how religious traditions can actually help us avoid doing what God truly wants. Can you think of modern "traditions" or "religious checklists" that might accidentally give us an excuse to avoid the harder work of loving others or obeying God? The "Joey the Bear" Reflection: Jeremy shared that many people feel judgmental toward the conservationists in the bear story until they realize the story itself is a hoax. How does this "double-blind" story challenge the way you view or judge the "Pharisees" in your own life? The Heart of the Matter: Jesus lists several "evils" that come from within the heart (greed, malice, slander, arrogance, etc.). Why is it often easier for us to focus on "clean hands" (outward behavior and rituals) than to deal with these internal heart issues? Learning from the "Outsider": The Syrophoenician woman understood Jesus better than his own disciples did at that moment. What does her interaction with Jesus teach us about how we should approach God when we feel "unclean" or unworthy? Practical Steps: The lesson suggested confession to others as a way to "cut past the external". What makes the idea of confessing struggles to another person so intimidating, and how might it lead to the "transformed heart" Jesus is looking for?
Who crucified Jesus? Was it Judas, the priests, Pilate—or the crowd? In today's MY Devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef reveals the deeper Truth: Jesus chose the cross. He went deliberately, willingly, and resolutely—not as a victim of circumstance, but as the Savior on mission. Every person who has ever lived inherited a spiritual debt and then added to it, but God, in mercy, provided a way out. On the cross, the Son of God paid what we could never pay, so that every repentant sinner who comes to Christ by faith can be set free. Drawing from Philippians 2:5–11, Dr. Youssef highlights the humility of Jesus—God in the flesh—who became obedient to death, even death on a cross. And as Jesus suffered, He prayed words that still astonish us: “Father, forgive them” (Luke 23:34). This wasn't forced surrender; it was love in action—love that satisfied God's justice and opened the door to eternal life. If you're searching for true peace, lasting security, and a clean conscience before God, this episode points you to the only source: the crucified and risen Christ. Do you know the forgiveness and love of God? Prayer: Jesus, Your love overwhelms me. I cannot fully fathom it; it humbles and sustains me. You are my Rock and my Redeemer. I long to live for You, the lover of my soul. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:8). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God…✓ Curiosity✓ HumilityFACE TO FACE WITH TRUTH1. Truth: Knowing a lot about God is not the same as knowing God. Question: Where have I grown so familiar with God that I no longer welcome a fresh encounter with Him?John 3:2-8 (NIV) He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”2. Truth: We can never manufacture what can only be birthed by the Spirit.Question: Lord, where am I striving to produce something that only Your Spirit can bring to life?John 3:9-18 (NIV) “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. “You are Israel's teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.3. Truth: Jesus came to give life to the dying, not turn bad people good.Question: Jesus, what in me has been empty or dying because I've been looking somewhere else for life?

In Week 6 of our Familiar Stranger series, Pastor Jason Britt addresses a critical but often overlooked reality: the Holy Spirit is not the only spirit at work in our time. In a world saturated with noise, misinformation, and competing "truths," the gift of discernment is more vital for the believer than ever before. Drawing from 1 John 4, this message explores how to "test the spirits" to see whether they are from God. Following Jesus isn't just about rejecting obvious evil; it's about recognizing the subtle replacements, reductions, and reshapings of Jesus that permeate our modern culture. If you've felt overwhelmed by the "spirit of the age," this message will help you find confidence in the Spirit of Truth who dwells within you.
When Jesus stood before Pilate, the question was asked: “What is truth?” — yet the Truth Himself was standing right there. In this week's message from John 18, we see how the world's idea of truth constantly shifts, but the truth of Jesus remains unchanging. Pastor Jeremiah walks us through how Christ reveals the heart of God, exposes false righteousness, and offers the only real path to freedom and life.

When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” ~ Matthew 9:10-11.Jesus gathered for dinner in Matthew's home with Matthew's tax collecting buddies. Matthew made a profit off Rome's oppression of his people, and so, the only people who approved of him were other people making similar choices. The word “sinners” in the gospels described those who were likely non-law-observant Jews who did not tithe, sacrifice, or observe the rites of purity that were meant to set God's people apart. It also described those who were diseased, injured, or contaminated. These people were outcasts. Outsiders. Matthew, who had just been called by Jesus, immediately brought others to Jesus. Rather than drop his friends, he invited them to come meet Jesus. They wanted to meet Jesus AND Jesus wanted to meet them. When Jesus accepted Matthew's invitation to eat with these people, it was scandalous. Eating together implied sharing not just food but something deeper. Even strangers around a table became something more. They became acceptable.Jesus extended grace to people thought to be unworthy and THAT disgusted the Pharisees. Jesus, motivated by love, associated with sinners: that was his mission. In this moment, Jesus showed his heart. It was (and is) to share the table with those who are far from him. Jesus longs to share himself with us. AND with everyone! That was (and is) the true identity of Jesus.

If they are looking for him, they are likely looking for them as well. They're terrified.OUTLINE (w/ help from ChatGPT)Bottom Line: Because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, we can trust His promises in the midst of our fears, follow His words, ways, and wisdom with confidence, see the Father clearly, and rely on Him to provide all we need for the mission.1. Jesus Calms Troubled Hearts (vv. 1–3)• Context: Jesus has announced His departure (13:33) and Peter's denial (13:38). The disciples are shaken.• Truth: “Let not your hearts be troubled.” The antidote to fear is faith.• Explanation:• Believe in God; believe also in Me → Jesus calls for the same trust we give to God.• In My Father's house are many rooms → heaven is real, personal, and prepared.• I will come again → the return of Christ guarantees our eternal presence with Him.• Application:• When anxiety rises, put your weight down on His promises.• We don't just long for a place (heaven) but a Person (Jesus).Illustration: A child afraid of the dark sleeps peacefully when she lies next to her parents bed because they are with her.2. Jesus Is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (vv. 4–7)• Thomas: “We don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?” (v. 5)• Jesus' Answer: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (v. 6)• Explanation:• The Way → He doesn't show the way; He is the way. The cross and resurrection open the road.• The Truth → Not one truth among many; the full reality of God revealed in Him.• The Life → Eternal life is only in Him (cf. John 11:25; 1 John 5:11–12).• Application:• In a culture that says “all paths lead to God,” Jesus insists: only one does.• Jesus is not just useful; He is essential.Illustration: GPS apps give different routes to the destination. Some take longer while others are easier. We won't all follow exactly the same way. But we do follow him his way rooted in his truth to true and lasting life.3. Jesus Reveals the Father (vv. 8–11)• Philip: “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” (v. 8)• Jesus' Reply: “Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father.” (v. 9)• Truth: Jesus is the full disclosure of God (cf. Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:3).• Application:• You don't have to wonder what God is like—look at Jesus.• If we're confused about God's character, we must return to Jesus' words and works.Illustration: Like a high-resolution picture bringing clarity where once it was blurry, Jesus brings the Father into perfect focus.4. Jesus Empowers His Followers (vv. 12–14)• Promise: “Whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do.” (v. 12)• Explanation:• Not greater in quality but in extent—global reach through the Spirit.• Through prayer “in My name,” Jesus continues His work through us.• Application:• We are not powerless—we are prayerful participants in Jesus' mission.• Ask boldly in His name, aligning with His will.Illustration: A relay race—the baton of Jesus' mission is passed on, but with Spirit-powered expansion beyond what the disciples could imagine. Conclusion: Bringing It All Together• When your heart is troubled → Trust His promise (vv. 1–3).• When you wonder about the way → Follow Him as the only way (vv. 4–7).• When you want to know what God is like → Look to Jesus (vv. 8–11).• When you feel powerless → Pray in His name and live on His mission (vv. 12–14).Bottom Line: Because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, we can trust His promises in the midst of our fears, follow His words, ways, and wisdom with confidence, see the Father clearly, and rely on Him to provide all we need for the mission.CONCLUSIONBottom Line: Because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, we can trust His promises in the midst of our fears, follow His words, ways, and wisdom with confidence, see the Father clearly, and rely on Him to provide all we need for the mission.INVITATIONWhat about you? Peter puts it all in perspective in his first sermon:““Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”” Acts 2:36-39 NIVHow do we respond? This Sunday's Inspirational Message is: Why Am I A Christian? Today's message carries a personal title: “Why Am I a Christian?” It's not a trick question. It's a heart question. Many of us quietly ask it when we suffer, or when we're tempted, or when a friend challenges our faith. Why am I a Christian? Let me explain where we're going. We'll drop our anchor in John 6:66–69, where Simon Peter answers Jesus with these words, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.” From there we'll trace three reasons: 1. Truth — Jesus alone speaks the words of eternal life. 2. Grace — God saves sinners by grace through faith, not by merit. 3. Life — The risen Christ changes people and holds them fast. Along the way, we'll talk about real stuff: 1. Are we in this as fans, or as disciples? 2. Did we “sign up” as fire insurance, or 3. Did Jesus call us to repent, believe, and follow? * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! If you enjoyed this episode and want to help support this ministry, please share it with others and post about it on social media. “Scripture quotations taken from the Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible. 1995. What would it look like if Jesus ran for President of The United States? What would He say at a campaign rally, at a debate or at a sit-down interview with CNN or FoxNews? During this five-week series we will take a look at what Jesus has to say about the issues we are facing today.
In this episode, we delve into the transformative power of teaching with the authority that Jesus demonstrated, as reflected in Matthew 7:29. We'll explore the dynamic interplay of authority and love in teaching, understanding how to effectively communicate God's truth with both conviction and compassion. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Matthew 7:29: "Because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law." This scripture highlights the distinct manner in which Jesus taught, captivating and transforming His listeners with His profound authority and understanding.Teaching with authority means more than just delivering information; it involves speaking life into the listeners, much like Jesus did. Today, we explore how teachers today can embody this same authority infused with love and guided by the Holy Spirit.Teaching with the Authority of Jesus:* Authority Rooted in Truth: Jesus' authority came from His unique relationship with the Father and His deep understanding of the scriptures, providing a model for teachers to be well-grounded in the Word.* Impact of Authoritative Teaching: When teachers speak from a place of spiritual authority, their words can challenge, inspire, and encourage transformation among their listeners.Balancing Authority with Compassion:* Boldness in Delivery: Teaching with authority involves confidence and boldness, but it must always be tempered with kindness to ensure the message is received in love.* Compassion and Understanding: Just as Jesus showed understanding and empathy, teachers should strive to connect with their audience's needs and emotions, making their teachings relatable and impactful.Guidance on Allowing the Holy Spirit to Lead Teaching Moments:* Prayerful Preparation: Teachers should spend time in prayer before teaching, seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance to ensure their words align with God's will.* Sensitivity to the Spirit: Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings during teaching can lead to powerful moments of insight and application that resonate deeply with students.* Continuous Growth: Staying open to the Holy Spirit's correction and instruction helps teachers remain effective and humble, ensuring their teachings continue to evolve and inspire.ConclusionTeaching with the authority of Jesus is a powerful ministry that can deeply affect lives. By blending this authority with love and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide their teachings, educators can make a lasting impact on their listeners.A Question of the Day: How can you more effectively incorporate the balance of authority and compassion in your teaching to mirror the way Jesus taught?Growth Challenge: For the next teaching opportunity, consciously prepare by focusing on how you can convey authority through the content and compassion through your delivery. Reflect afterward on the responses and adjust based on feedback and personal insights.Let's Pray: Lord, empower us to teach with the authority and love that Jesus exemplified. Help us to be channels of Your truth, speaking with boldness tempered by compassion. Guide us by Your Holy Spirit to impact hearts and transform lives through our teaching. Amen.As we continue to grow in our teaching ministries, let's strive to emulate Jesus in how we teach, what we teach, and the way we interact with our listeners. Let's be teachers who speak life into every situation, backed by the authority of our Lord. Let's get to work.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. GENESIS - Genesis 3:1-6, a look at keeping our eyes on the Truth (Jesus) and disarm Satan's lies.
Of the four Eucharistic Prayer options in a Novus Ordo Mass, there is only one that has its origins in the apostles and the words of Our Lord Himself. Eucharistic Prayer I, or the Roman Canon, is the only option in the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) – and also the option least used by priests who say the Novus Ordo. Father David Nix, a diocesan hermit and priest of 14 years, explains the infallible teaching behind the origin of the Roman Canon prayed at every TLM. He also refutes the modernist justification for shortening the various prayers connected to the sacraments. Although Novus Ordo sacraments are still valid, Fr. Nix maintains they are indeed less powerful than the old variations.Download the all-new LSNTV App now, available on iPhone and Android!LSNTV Apple Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lsntv/id6469105564 LSNTV Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lifesitenews.app ****PROTECT Your Wealth with gold, silver, and precious metals: https://stjosephpartners.com/lifesitenews +++SHOP ALL YOUR FUN AND FAVORITE LIFESITE MERCH! https://shop.lifesitenews.com/ +++Connect with John-Henry Westen and all of LifeSiteNews on social media:LifeSite: https://linktr.ee/lifesitenews John-Henry Westen: https://linktr.ee/jhwesten Hosted on Acast. Jesus said a lot of things for us to remember and live by... however, sometimes people confuse his messages... Today hosts Jared Haley and Chris Wilson talk through 5 things that Jesus did NOT say and shed some light on what he actually said and meant. By the way, Merry Christmas to you and thank you for listening to our Strong By Design podcast show! We are honored to have you as a listener. May you share this special time of year with family and friends as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. "It's not, 'you do you and I do me.' It's actually deny yourself and follow Jesus." Jared Haley Our 'official notes' in preparation of this conversation are below, as promised! 1) Follow Your Heart // Follow Me Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. - Matthew 16:24 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9 2) Be True to Yourself // Deny yourself and follow For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. - Romans 6:6 3) Believe in Yourself // Believe in Me Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” - John 11:25-26 4) Live Your Truth // I am Truth Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 5) As Long as You are Happy, it is okay. // I will make your joy complete. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. - John 15:11 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? - Mark 8:36 Time Stamps 00:53 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design' podcast (Christmas Special
Matthew Adams here, guiding you through Day 7 of our Advent exploration. Today, we're delving into a scripture that's at the very heart of the Christmas story and our faith. In John 1:14, we find a profound truth that shapes our understanding of God, His nature, and how we, as spiritual warriors, interact with the divine.Scripture: John 1:14"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." This verse from John's Gospel encapsulates the mystery and wonder of the Incarnation.John 1:14 speaks of the Incarnation, a cornerstone of Christian belief where the divine takes on human form. This concept goes beyond theological doctrine; it's about God's tangible presence in our world and lives. As spiritual warriors, understanding and embracing this truth is crucial as we navigate the complexities of faith and life.My Reasons To Believe is a publication fueled by its readers' support. We're committed to serving you. Think about stepping up to Faith Partner. For a mere $5 a month, you can play a crucial role in keeping this ministry thriving. Stay blessed. Now, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work!Three Driving Points* The Word Became Flesh: The Incarnation is about God bridging the immense gap between the divine and human. It's a reminder that God is not distant but has entered into our human experience. As spiritual warriors, this gives us confidence that God understands our struggles, joys, and sorrows firsthand.* Dwelling Among Us: The phrase "made his dwelling among us" suggests a God who is not just passing through but is committed to staying with us. In our spiritual battles, this assures us of God's continual presence. Even when we feel alone, the truth is, He is right there with us, in every moment.* Full of Grace and Truth: Jesus, the Word made flesh, embodies grace and truth. In our journey, these two virtues are vital. Grace reminds us of God's unmerited favor, while truth anchors us in His unchanging reality. As spiritual warriors, we are called to extend this grace to others and to live in the truth of God's Word.ConclusionAs we reflect on John 1:14 this Advent, let's deepen our appreciation for the Incarnation. This profound mystery is not just a doctrine to be understood but a reality to be lived and experienced in our daily walk with God.Call to ActionThis week, take some time to meditate on the Incarnation. Consider what it means for God to dwell among us and how this truth can transform your perspective on the challenges you face. Additionally, find a way to demonstrate grace and truth in your interactions with others.PrayerHeavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, the Word made flesh. Help us to fully grasp and embrace the truth of the Incarnation. May Your presence among us inspire us to live lives filled with grace and anchored in truth. Amen.As we progress through Advent, remember that the Word became flesh not just for a season but for all time. May this profound truth guide you as a spiritual warrior, bringing light and understanding to every part of your journey. Wishing you a blessed Advent, rich in the knowledge of God's abiding presence.Thank you for reading My Reasons To Believe. This post is public so feel free to share it. Joshua instructs his men to enclose the five Amorite kings in a cave by covering the entrance with heavy stones. These kings went into the tomb alive, and were later brought out in order to be put to death. The King of kings was dead when he was laid in his tomb, only to emerge alive forevermore.

Christ is the antitype of the ark. He is the only way to the heavenly Canaan. The way to glory through the Jordan River (a type of death) is an untrodden and trackless path. All men must eventually go through the river of death, but only once. And those who pass through it have never gone that way before.
