She’s All Fat host Sophia Carter-Kahn joins us to talk about getting Ariana Grande-level cozy and off-brand Jibbitz for Crocs. We also go back in time and relive some hilarious middle school nostalgia (first slow dance song, anyone?), and the kind of people we were in high school. FYI: Our recording cuts off abruptly because Mercury was in Retrograde. But just know Sophia and I could’ve talked 4EVA.Follow Gee Thanks! on Insta: www.instagram.com/geethanksjustboughtitpod! On this episode, we sat down with Sophia Carter-Kahn, host of the body positive podcast She’s All Fat. ”The podcast for body positivity, radical self love, and chill vibes only” (She’s All Fat) We talk about the world of podcasting, body positivity, the joys of working with your friends, and the woes of airplane seats. Sophie not only drops some knowledge on good steps to take if you too hope to join the podcasting game, but she also shares some ways to be a better ally for your fat friends. We really get into a little bit of everything on this one. Making it, in my humble opinion, a killer example of what podcasting can do in terms of learning and growing through conversation. Sophia Carter-Kahn and April K. Quioh, the voices behind the She’s All Fat podcast, join us for an open and honest conversation about varying opinions and their experience in building a body positive podcast. Both April and Sophia have backgrounds in writing, and that’s how the two initially met! We chat about why they decided to create a podcast, and how they picked the name, She’s All Fat, plus we get into their favorites topics to cover on their show. Sophia and April also share their own personal journey towards self-love, and how the road to loving their own bodies and self acceptance—it hasn’t always been linear. The girls all laugh over the ways they take a break to digest all of the (at times heartbreaking) media, mainly in the forms of binge-watching new television series. In our conversation we go deep into how words like “fat” and “skinny” are neutral, and how we need to change the way that these topics are approached, especially in today’s social media-driven culture. We also talk about… Influence from our parents + how that affects us as we grow Comments + backlash How having a podcast has become therapeutic The importance of having a therapist April + Sophia’s life outside of their podcast Where they go to stay educated What’s to come for She’s All Fat Find more to love at almost30podcast.com!
