An introduction to an obscure but powerful timing technique called recurrence transits, which occur when specific planetary alignments in the birth chart are repeated by transits in the sky, with astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best. Unlike standard transits that form aspects to specific points in the natal chart, a recurrence transit occurs when a planetary alignment found in a birth chart repeats in the sky between those same two planets. For example, if a person was born with a Venus-Jupiter conjunction in their birth chart, then an important event will happen in their life in the future when Venus and Jupiter again form a conjunction in the sky. The episode uses the analogy that specific planetary alignments in the birth chart act like a personal theme song; when the planets repeat the same alignment in the sky, it is as if that music starts playing again, signaling a pivotal turning point where the natal potential of the birth signature becomes awakened through a resonance between past and future. The episode opens by exploring the history and transmission of the technique, which is relatively unknown in the English-speaking world at the present time. Nick shares how he learned the method from the late Michael Lutin in the 1990s, while Chris traces potential roots back to early 20th-century German astrology and ancient Hellenistic texts like Vettius Valens. After a quieter stretch, the transits come roaring back—14 this week alone. This week is all about pausing, reflecting, and realigning before we move forward. With two big retrogrades and the powerful 11/11 portal happening back-to-back, the energy helps us course-correct before we enter a brand-new 9-year cycle in January. Mercury Retrograde begins this week, bringing the usual tech glitches, travel delays, and communication mix-ups, but it's ultimately a cosmic slowdown for clarity and alignment.  Mercury retrogrades back into Sagittarius, shifting the focus from external chaos to our direction in life. Sagittarius rules truth, purpose, vision, and intuition, so don't be surprised if you start questioning your plans, your goals, or your story. This retrograde asks: “Is the path I'm on still aligned with who I'm becoming?” It's a time of inner review, realizations, and course-correcting. Remember, if something doesn't work out, it's usually because something better is on the way.  Just two days later, Jupiter goes retrograde in Cancer, bringing four months of emotional healing and inner expansion. Mercury retrograde is the mental review, while Jupiter retrograde is the emotional one. During this time, growth is happening from the inside out. Nurture yourself, soften, and ask: “Where do I need to care for myself more so I can grow?”  We're also supported by a beautiful Jupiter–Saturn trine. This helps life flow more smoothly socially and gives us a deeper sense of belonging. This energy reminds us we're not just witnessing what's happening in the world, we're shaping it.  Then we flow straight into the 11/11 portal, one of the highest-frequency days of the year for intention-setting. Master number 11 is about intuition and alignment, and when doubled, it opens a powerful spiritual doorway. This year, with the retrogrades, 11/11 isn't about manifesting more, it's about aligning with what's meant for you. Think less hustle, more divine flow. Listen for signs, synchronicities, and guidance. This week is not for action, it's for realignment. As I write this, Mercury is about thirty minutes from his station, and we are about to ride along for the messenger's third and final retrograde journey of 2025.Mercury's retrogrades always bring the potential for delays, cancellations, and communication mishaps, and, as the lovely Brandon mentions toward the end of the episode, shopping inefficiencies. (This is not the year for Black Friday deals unless you enjoy the returning-and-refunding merry-go-round.) But if we pay close attention, we can usually sense a deeper focus beneath the noise and chaos that swirl on the surface of Mercury's retrograde cycles.This time, the messenger's retrograde asks a pointed question: What's been left unfinished?Perfectly positioned to dialogue with Uranus and triangulate communication between Jupiter and Saturn, Mercury's retrograde plunges deep into strategy. We have six months to tie up loose ends in Taurus. Uranus has been working on innovating the Taurus part of our lives since 2018, and clarity strikes like lightning this month as we hone in on what still needs to be done. If this is progress we'd like to keep, it's time to take a look at how to seal it in, make it real, and make it lasting.
