The pandemic compelled you to create a cozy home office that suits your needs perfectly. Although it's wonderful to be more available to your children and enjoy the convenience of working from home, there are times when you yearn for uninterrupted focus, personal grooming, and casual interactions with your boss. Can the office of the future offer the best of both worlds? Companies like Marriott International are betting on it. They are reimagining office spaces to compete with the appeal of remote work, providing amenities and design features that prioritize employee comfort and satisfaction. Marriott's new 785,000-square-foot headquarters in downtown Bethesda, designed by the renowned architecture firm Gensler, is a testament to this concept. The office resembles a combination of a hotel, spa, restaurant, and library. It houses a public plaza, coffee shop, dining hall with outdoor seating, gym, childcare center, doggy daycare, and spa, making it feel like a comfortable oasis rather than a typical office. This new office concept aims to draw employees back by offering a myriad of perks that enhance their work experience. While remote and hybrid work remain popular, many companies are planning new office spaces to maintain productivity and foster company culture. However, they must now consider creating offices that employees genuinely want to return to, even when remote work is an option. The key lies in designing environments that prioritize employee well-being and offer amenities that go beyond the traditional office perks. Designers are now focusing on private meeting spaces, flexible one-person offices, gyms, childcare, and other services that cater to employees' needs. The new office aims to provide a comfortable and even luxurious atmosphere, rivaling the comforts of working from home. This shift in focus calls for more natural light, outdoor spaces, and a central urban location that welcomes the surrounding community. It's about transforming the workplace into a space that is not just convenient but also enjoyable, earning its appeal even in the face of remote work options. Architects and designers see this moment as an opportunity to implement innovative ideas and create workplaces tailored to specific company needs and worker preferences. They are rethinking office layouts and furniture choices to compete with the comforts of home environments. Companies are involving employees in the design process to gather insights and create spaces that truly represent the organization's values and foster strong employee connections. The debate over the necessity of physical office spaces still remains. While remote work has demonstrated its viability, these new office concepts emphasize the importance of having a space where employees can come together, understand their organization's ethos, and strengthen their sense of belonging. The future office blends the comforts of home with the luxuries of corporate life, creating a workspace that is not only functional but also inspiring and enjoyable, enticing employees to step away from the comforts of home and return to the office. Reference article: https://www.wired.com/story/welcome-to-the-comfy-office-of-the-future/

Almost as soon as Matchday 31 had concluded, Matchday 32 arrived hot on its heels. Join Matt Clark (@MattClark_08) and Román De Arquer (@Aeroslavee) to review the weekend action with crucial fixtures at the top, and most importantly at the bottom. Home is where the heart is, and for the majority of the weekend, it was where the points were too. Six of the eight matches played were won by the hosts. We start at the bottom, with Espanyol gaining a much-needed victory over Getafe, who have just reappointed José Bordalás. There was no immediate effect for returnee, instead it was his counterpart Luis García who registered a first win of his own. Espanyol had been the team with the longest winless run in the division, but that baton now passes to Getafe themselves.Down in Andalucía, Cádiz also needed to react after three games without a goal, taking on a resurgent Valencia who had won their last two games. Once again it went the way of the hosts, a valuable three points for Sergio's side. Valencia's momentum is stalled.Elsewhere Elche stunned everyone by pulling a 4-0 win out of the bag. Every game is now a must-win or they will be officially relegated.Real Valladolid went punch for punch with Atleti, but came out on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller. In Part Two, we discuss the big two who scored four goals each, but it was Karim Benzema who closed the gap on Robert Lewandowski in the Pichichi race. For the title, Barça require just three wins to seal it.Lastly we look at the race for 4th, as La Real continue to hold firm, while Villarreal are trying their best to pressure them all the way.Matchday 32 concludes on Monday and Matchday 33 begins on Tuesday. Hi Geezers! Caroline is off this week, but please enjoy a replay of her chat with the amazing Jia Tolentino from March, 2020.Jia Tolentino of The New Yorker is here today to talk about her favorite bra, even though no one is wearing bras anymore because we have nowhere to wear them. She and Caroline also discuss the plight of boob measurements and also how we’re handling quarantining. Life is very normal, of course! Why do you ask?Very important for when we get back to the world, Jia’s favorite bra is currently on sale and the Natori website is offering 25% off your order this week: https://fave.co/2vQgBAf I recommend getting it in lots of colors because you’re gonna wanna be known as “fun bra gal” when we can go outside again. ALSO, when we can go outside again, New Yorkers MUST run, NOT WALK, to Nordstrom on 57th and go see Bo in the bra department. In a more serious tone, I hope you are all hanging in there and giving yourself some space to be a little “off.” If you aren’t listening to Doree and Kate’s new podcast, HERE FOR YOU, it’s a great way to both acknowledge the state of the world while also not overwhelming yourself (as I tend to do). Dave Prentice and Adam Jones join host Phil Kirkbride as the Royal Blue podcast returns to review Everton's 1-0 win over Southampton on Monday and preview Thursday's visit to Sam Allardyce's West Brom. Richarlison's early strike ensured the Blues beat the Saintsand ended their run of five Premier League games without a win at Goodison Park. But there's also praise for the performances of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jordan Pickford and the returning Allan before talk turns to the showdown with the relegation-haunted Baggies, who are of course managed by former Everton boss Allardyce. Victory over Big Sam's side would haul the Blues into the top four for a couple of hours at least and would set them up nicely for next Monday's huge match at Chelsea. Enjoy.

Plant-based eating is here to stay. Most of us have heard about the health benefits and the environmental benefits of going plant based thanks to documentaries like “The Game Changers” and “What the Health.” While eating plant-based sounds great on paper, a lot of us wonder how you can possibly replace the unique taste of dairy products like butter and cheese. So, is dairy really the final frontier for plant-based eating? Miyoko Schinner answered this by founding Miyoko’s Creamery, a company that makes incredibly delicious vegan, plant-based cheeses and butters. In this episode, she's sharing her journey as a plant-based entrepreneur, dishing out advice for how to eat more plants, and more! This is a conversation that vegetarians, vegans, and omnivores alike will get something out of. Episode Show Notes:Learn more about Miyoko's Creamery on their website and Instagram. Check out Miyoko's books: "Artisanal Vegan Cheese," "The Homemade Vegan Pantry," and "The Vegan Meat Cookbook." If you're feeling plant-curious, Miyoko recommends trying the Veganuary challenge. We discussed the fact that 80% of antibiotics sold in the US are for animal agriculture. Miyoko recommends watching the Vegan 2020 documentary on Youtube. Miyoko also has a fun cooking show called "Miyoko's Home Comforts." Learn more about Miyoko's animal rescue, Rancho Compasion.

CW for some body and fitness talk (addressing the culture but getting into some of our issues). That stands for content warning, btw! Not COUP WARNING, but you know what *LOOKS DIRECTLY AT CAMERA*. Casey Johnston aka @SwoleWoman is here and we’re getting INTO it about all of that January “new year new me” BS especially as it pertains to our bodies and exercise goals. This was recorded on Monday, so you can tell we have a little energy in our voices. Now it is Friday, and that energy is gone.Follow Gee Thanks! on Insta: www.instagram.com/geethanksjustboughtitpod! In our bonus Christmas episode we'll share 5 tips to get you through the holidays, well, at least where baby sleep is concerned. A wee sherry and mince pie might need to do the rest! December can be an exciting time but it can also be really exhausting and if you're already parent-level tired, the overwhelm of making it through can make it feel a lot less merry and bright. We'll talk about why and how the holidays can be tough, with some tips on how to manage them and, at the very least, we hope to bring you a wee bit of festive cheer (we have new theme music!). As always, we hope to give you the gift of better baby sleep. 1 – Pack Your Sack 2 – Home Comforts 3 – Festive Naps 4 – Selection Box of Treats 5 – Just one day
Given that we’re set to spend more time at home this autumn, I invited Laura Jackson to talk home comforts on the podcast this week. I think if we can bring some magic to simple rituals, like making an evening meal more special, we can find smalls ways to get by over the coming weeks and months. Laura is well known for her presenting roles, but her passion for food led her to launch her own supper club with her friend Alice Levine, and create her own podcast dedicated to hosting. So today, I’ve asked Laura to join me and share some of her expertise in the hope that we can find some comfort in the ordinary. As always, there’s some beauty chat along the way too. Here are a few of the things we discuss that you might want to take a look at…Laura on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamlaurajacksonHoste London: https://www.instagram.com/Hoste.londonHOSTEing Laura Jackson: https://hosteing-laura-jackson.simplecast.comRound to Ours cookbook: https://www.waterstones.com/book/round-to-ours/alice-levine/laura-jackson/9781849499590 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Molly Taylor has been racing competitively for some time. I recorded a chat with her, not about her later successes, but about the hard grind of giving up other opportunities and leaving the comforts of home to pursue her dream. Items she covered include: • School project of designing a race track • Giving up University to pursue her dream • Traveling to England when she was 20 years old • Moving to some accommodation (a converted farm building) on her 21st birthday • Getting her first drive of a left-hand drive, front-wheel drive rally car when she entered an event then winning the first two rounds. • Losing her big sponsor • Managing a team of helpers • Happily accepting that famous rally co-driver Coral Taylor is now known as “Molly's Mum”
Lewis Hamilton won the 2020 British GP despite a tyre failure on the final lap, while team-mate Bottas finished 11th after encountering the same issue, 2 laps from home. We discuss the Ferrari's contrasting fortunes, Grosjean's dodgy defending and ask if the stewards are in danger of creating a black and white penalty system. Home Comforts - part 057 On returning back at Minas Tirith, they reunite with Freya of the Rohan and take a moment to recap what they have discovered before seeking an audience with the King of Gondor.
Welcome back to the Inside Yorkshire podcast. In today's episode we listen to authors Eileen Brereton and Anne Wall talk about the role of the Red Cross Auxiliary hospitals, in Yorkshire, during the First World War. They have written a book entitled Home Comforts describing the importance of these medical outposts. Recuperating wounded soldiers, far away from their own families, had home comforts provided for them by VADs in the 32 auxiliary hospitals set up across the county. Eileen and Anne give us a wonderful insight into life in the voluntary aid detachments. These were voluntary units of civilians providing nursing care for military personnel in the United Kingdom and various other countries in the British Empire. The most important periods of operation for these units were during World War I and 2. About the Guests: Eileen Brereton and Anne Wall were Red Cross trainers when they were asked to set up a commemorative WW1 hospital for East Rounton village hall's centenary celebrations in 2006. That began a project that has lasted over 12 years now and taken them on a fascinating voyage of discovery, unearthing information and memorabilia from 32 hospitals in the North Riding of Yorkshire and the VADs (voluntary aid detachments) who worked in them. Valuable Resources: The Book can be purchased from Eileen or Anne contact- info@northridingVADhospitals.co.uk Home Comforts- The Role of the Red Cross Auxiliary Hospitals in the North East Riding of Yorkshire during the First World War Exhibitions can be set up in libraries, and museums. About the Host: Susan has been living in Yorkshire for over 30 years. She is passionate about the county she has adopted as her home and she never ceases to be amazed at the wealth of talent ‘Inside Yorkshire’ and the tales that people have to tell.
