It's become a summer ritual for many Coloradans. More than four decades of music, emanating through the crisp mountain air. The 41st Annual Winter Park Jazz Festival returns this weekend, featuring artists Anthony Hamilton, Stokely, Average White Band and Lalah Hathaway, to name a few. Becky Taylor is the longtime emcee and arguably the face of the fest. Tracy and Stephanie Williams, sisters who live in Aurora, have been faithful attendees for years.
The guys hop on stage at the Court Theatre in Hyde Park for a live conversation with writer Nambi E. Kelley and director Tasia A. Jones about their new play Stokely: The Unfinished Revolution. The production covers the life of visionary movement thinker and organizer Stokely Carmichael/Kwame Ture, whose work spans from the early work of SNCC across the southern US to decades of Pan-Africanist socialist organizing on the African continent. The creators behind the play talk about the frames they built for the story, the ways that Stokely's drive has impacted their lives, and the healing potential of the archive. Zach and Phill cut into Stokely and Josh's conversation about Game 1 of the NBA Finals, breaking down what went wrong for the Mavericks. They heard a quote from Chicago about QB's that got them thinking, is Bo Nix a QB you can win with or is he a QB that will be a cause of winning? Would you take Joe Flacco's career for Bo Nix's career or do you expect more from him? Zach and Phil close out the first hour mixing and matching all the different RB combinations the Broncos have in the backfield and try to pick which one would be the best.
Zach and Phil cross talk with Stokely and Josh about some new big money deals that are about to go down. They dig into some new Courtland Sutton news, from a contract projection to a new team that has been linked to him. Lucas Krull has stood out in camp but Zach is pumping the brakes on the hype train, he's thinking the Broncos can make a deal. Zach and Phil take a look at the Stanley Cup odds for the Avs and have a real discussion about how realistic it is that they can get back.
Zach and Phil come into the show chating about their golf game with Stokely and Josh before giving them a championship hypothetical on the way out. Zach poses a question to Phil: What would be the bigger feather in Sean Payton's cap, resurrecting Zack Wilson's career or developing Bo Nix into a true franchise QB? They wonder if CU Buffs football has a chance to be the biggest story in college football again in 2024. The guys take a look at the history books to try and gauge the Nuggets chances to get another championship when they're not going for a repeat.

Mat Smith and Kyle Reese fill in for Stokely and Josh today, opening the show with a recap of last night's action on the ice and the hardwood. They discuss the Coach Prime's issues with committing to the run game and how it'll affect Shedeur and the Buffs' record. They hear a big national talking head tell us why there's a reason for optimism for CU football. They close out the first hour with Richie, Chopping It Up about Zach Wilson's new squeeze, Justin Fields' starting timeline, Bronny James, and a do over for OceanGate.
Brandon Stokley and Mat Smith open the second hour recapping the Nuggets’ big bounce back blowout over the Cavaliers. The Nuggets shot lights out but Stoke and Mat have to wonder how the Nuggets should handle the stretch run, do they try to stay healthy or do they try to get the 1 seed? They take a look at the numbers in Josh Reynolds’ new deal for the Broncos… does this move the needle at all? Does this move hint at a divide in the front office? Stoke puts a draft scenario out there that has Mat quaking in his boots, Stoke tries to defend his position. Speaking of football, there’s another spring football league and Coach Prime made a special guest appearance. Is he going to be here after this upcoming season?
Brandon Stokley and Mat Smith open the fourth and final hour making a correction and taking some texts from the listeners, getting their take on the Broncos’ rebuild. Mat and Stoke debate how the Broncos should approach answering the QB question, should they learn from Draft history or should they take it case-by-case? They highlight a record breaking performance before speculating whether Coach Prime is actually serious about his comments about Shedeur pulling an Eli or an Elway. Both tenants of The Can have clinched playoffs, they both have legitimate franchise cornerstones. Do the Broncos have any on the roster right now? What’s the best way to get more franchise players for the Broncos? The guys point out some lessons the Broncos should take from the Avs and Nuggets to help their rebuild before they hand off to The Drive.
Brandon Stokley and Mat Smith open the third hour talking all things in the Denver sports scene, the Frozen Four, the Final Four in the men’s and women’s tournaments, and the Nuggets’ big bounce back blowout on Easter Sunday. Mat and Stoke try to see through all of the smoke coming from the Broncos’ top brass as we enter the month of The Draft. They lay out exactly how they would rebuild the Broncos, should the Broncos even take a QB this year or should they go for BPA?
Brandon Stokley and Mat Smith open the show with a rant about the tough western conference in the NBA and the Nuggets’ place in it. They chop it up about Easter before discussing a tale of two Nuggets games over the holiday weekend. The Avs also had a big game this weekend with a big comeback, but that means they’re still falling behind, are you worried about the Avs’ slow starts? The guys go back to college, talking about the CU Women’s faceoff with Caitlin Clark, the DU Pioneers’ tough game in Springfield, and the Final Four. They close out the hour talking about the Rockies’ poor opening weekend and ranting about their issues with a certain expensive malcontent.
Stokely and Josh open the second hour making their latest pizza bet, would you take UConn or the field? Then they preview the Nuggets’ biggest game of the season, defending home court against the Timberwolves with the number one seed on the line. Josh asks a very pertinent question: Will the Nuggets or the Rockies win more games this season? The Avs have come up short in the last couple of games to the Habs and the Rangers, is there cause for concern or should we be encouraged by the way the Avs played against an eastern powerhouse team?
Stoke and Josh open today’s show recapping some of the action around the Denver sports scene, going in depth on the Avs’ 3-2 shootout loss to the Rangers where Mackinnon’s point streak ended and Josh calls out the folks who are campaigning for the streak to stay alive. Then they have to vent after the Rockies’ embarrassing 16-1 opening day blowout to the Diamondbacks that makes them wonder if the Rockies will even make it over .500 for the rest of the season. The Broncos added a new WR recently, what do the next few weeks look like for the Broncos until The Draft? Stoke and Josh conclude the first hour recapping some of the college basketball action going on.
Stokely and Josh open the fourth and final hour talking about the upcoming ESPN documentary about Joe Sakic and wonder if there’s a Denver sports figure right now that’s worthy of their own documentary. There were a couple of Pro Day’s yesterday where some top QB’s threw and the Broncos sent some key personnel to one but not the other. Can we really tell what a team is thinking based off of who goes to a Pro Day? Stokely and Josh ask the fans if the Rockies can get back to .500 after last night’s opening day blowout. The guys chop it up about the Shohei Ohtani situation now that baseball is back in action and have a discussion about sports betting and how the recent scandals will affect their respective leagues.
Stokely and Josh open the third hour talking Sweet Sixteen and the football schools in the basketball tournament and try to prognosticate the remaining games. They keep an ear to the ground around the NFL and we hear Jayden Daniels’ coach tip his hand and they wonder if the Patriots could take JJ McCarthy at 3, could the Broncos have a shot at Drake Maye? Josh poses a question to Stoke and all of the Denver fans: which game this weekend is more important, the Nuggets versus the Timberwolves or the Avalanche versus the Predators? Or, is it the CU Women vs Iowa? All the guys on the mic and behind the glass close out the third hour with some guy talk about the incident yesterday, the possibility of getting a spike strip, and flamethrowers.
It's been a very fun 2024 in AEW, to our intense relief! Samoa Joe is doing everything he can to get Swerve and Hangman's attention, with little success — whatever, he's only the world champion! Danny Garcia is continuing to experiment with FTR, clearly because of his BROKEN HOME. Matt Jackson is thoroughly in boymode and getting praise for it, which we have not failed to notice. OC and Matt Taven had a kickass Texas Death Match while Roddy continued to look like a dweeb, and the women's division is absolutely cooking! O brave new world etc etc! 00:00 Chitchat Time 08:39 Samoa Joe, Swerve, and Hangman 16:30 Adam Copeland and Danny Garcia 31:04 Young Bucks and Darby Allin 49:15 Orange Cassidy and The Undisputed Kingdom 1:00:33 Blackpool Combat Club 1:10:05 Deonna Purrazzo and Toni Storm 1:15:06 Willow, Kris, and Stokely
Josh Dover and Brandon Stokley open the show recapping a great week of football from the Divisional Round, what are their takeaways from the game that propelled the hated Chiefs to a sixth straight AFC title game? They also take a look at the #1 seeds’ performance, are the Ravens and Niners vulnerable? Stoke and Josh pivot to the Ball Arena Bros and their winning weekend where the Nuggets ended the Celtics’ undefeated home streak and Nathan MacKinnon made a case for the Hart Trophy. The guys wrap up the first hour wondering if Sean Payton will make any changes to the coaching staff this week after the Broncos’ week off.
Josh Dover and Brandon Stokley start the second hour with one of our lovely listeners asking Stokely what kind of coach players typically want to play for. The guys update us on a development at the station before digging into a questionable coaching decision they saw in yesterday’s NFL action. They discuss whether the Broncos are going to be a free agent destination with all of the rising young QB’s in the NFL. Josh takes some time to laud Nikola Jokic’s performances over the weekend while taking a look at Jamal Murray’s inconsistency from game to game. Stokely and Josh close out the second hour addressing the lack of 100-yard talent on the Broncos for the last 8 years.
Josh Dover and Brandon Stokley begin the third hour wondering if the Broncos are anywhere near the level of the playoff teams in the dance this year and how long it will take to get back to prominence. They debate a rule that has been controversial for a while, should it stay or should it go? They dive into their thoughts on the NFL’s Divisional weekend. The guys take a look around the league, telling us about a new coordinator, next weekend’s odds, and an old Broncos speedster finding a new home. Stoke and Josh wrap up the third hour with a discussion on which Ball Arena team needs to make a trade more, the Nuggets to secure their place atop the NBA or the Avs to get back to Stanley Cup form.
Josh Dover and Brandon Stokley open the final hour hearing from some of the players. They hear what Josh Allen had to say after another heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs. They compare what we thought of Dan Campbell when he arrived on the scene and now when his team is on the way to the NFC championship game as the feel-good team in the playoffs. The guys take a look at what’s trending on Denver Sports.com between a Denver coach at the Senior Bowl, an Avs legend returning to the NHL, and a dearly departed Denver sports icon. Stoke and Josh end today’s show with an amateur money issue before telling us what’s on tonight.
The honorable judge Dan Jacobs rings in the new year in lieu of Stokley and Josh. In the third hour, Dan gives those who missed his spirited debate with our very own Zach Bye a chance to catch what they had to say about the Russ benching situation. Who does Zach believe will be the next QB of the Denver Broncos? Then Dan gives those listeners a chance to react to the debate with Zach and give their two cents about a very nuanced situation. Dan closes out the hour letting us listen to Sean Payton’s press conference call earlier from earlier in the day.
The honorable judge Dan Jacobs rings in the new year in lieu of Stokley and Josh. In the final hour, Dan reacts to Sean Payton’s conference call along with our listeners to unpack what the coach is thinking going into the season finale. Dan is joined by Denver Sports’ Senior Broncos Writer, Andrew Mason, to ask him about some song lyrics before diving into Sean Payton’s comments during his press conference call earlier in the day. Mase breaks down Jarrett Stidham’s performance yesterday and what that means for the Broncos’ plans now and going forward. He gauges reaction to Mase on the text line before he brings John Davis and Chad Andrus on for some cross talk before handing off to The Drive.
The honorable judge Dan Jacobs rings in the new year in lieu of Stokley and Josh. In the second hour, Dan realizes that he’s been heavy-handed against Russ in the whole benching saga so he gives the Russ sympathizers a chance to tell him their side of the story. He takes some texts from out lovely listeners and opens the discussion for this messy situation. With all of the debate and drama going on around Russ, Dan has to ask just who exactly Russ even is. After his very candid locker room presser last Friday, Dan is wondering if Russ duped everybody in Broncos Country.
The honorable judge Dan Jacobs rings in the new year in lieu of Stokley and Josh talking about the Jacobs’ family’s new year’s celebrations. Then he’s joined by our very own Zach Bye to talk about the holiday season and his own new year’s before they dig into the QB controversy to debate about Russ. They have a heated debate about the Russ situation as a whole, is there a difference between sympathizing with Russ about the unusual situation and admitting Russ has some fault? Dan calls out some of the Russ v Payton tribalism in Broncos Country.
Stokely Hathaway is the smooth-talking, heel manager of AEW's The Firm who won the poker chip for MJF at All Out. Stokely talks about MJF's surprise return, what it was like climbing the ladder in the middle of the ring, and the one request he made of Ethan Page during the match.
