This is the last time these fantasy football running back rankings change before Week 1.Kendall Valenzuela and Peter Overzet go through Fantasy Life's final preseason running back rankings, all 48 of them, and stop on the names where the room genuinely disagrees. Every tier comes with the full consensus list plus each player's highest and lowest rank across the staff, so you can see exactly where the confidence is and where it isn't.The top twelve opens with the debate that decides the 1.01, and whether it actually matters as much as everyone thinks. Then the widest disagreement on the entire board — one back the staff has anywhere from RB4 to RB12, an eight-spot spread on a player people are taking in the second round. And a confidence check on the back who's settled in at RB11 after an injury scare: would you really be comfortable if he were the only running back you took in the first three rounds? The RB2 range brings a rookie coming off a high ankle sprain, a veteran the guys may have ranked too low given the situation ahead of him, and another enormous spread — a starting back the staff has between RB19 and RB27.The back half is where drafts are actually won. A Packers back whose stock moved when Josh Jacobs landed on the Commissioner's Exempt List, the real answer in the New England backfield, whether Jacory Croskey-Merritt ends up leading Washington, and the Minnesota split between Jordan Mason and Aaron Jones. They close by each naming their favorite handcuff to draft this year — which, in a season this thin at the position, might be the most useful two minutes of the show. Today's episode is about "safe players," but of course, there's really no such thing. What we're really discussing is roster construction, and the players we tend to use as safe harbor because of their unusually high floors, given when you can draft them. We might not be exactly *right* about the nature of these players' risk, but it's a fun conversation that can help you figure how to build your 2026 fantasy football team. Plus we'll report on the great Portland book event for Pound Foolish, and reflect on the NFL news of the day. Guest: Jeff Erickson of Rotowire. "Be at your best when your best is needed." Jonathan Taylor As the Pivot Training Camp tour hits Indianapolis, one of the league's best Running Backs Jonathan Taylor sits with the guys for an in-depth conversation about his football journey—from his early days at Salem High School in New Jersey to his dominant college career at Wisconsin to becoming one of the NFL's premier running backs with the Indianapolis Colts...JT's transcendent path is one everyone can learn from. Taylor opens up on making it to the league, the work behind becoming one of the most productive backs in football, and what it means to earn a new deal and continue building his legacy in Indianapolis. JT talks about the legends at his position before him, what it was like having Philip Rivers around and gives an inside-look into this year's roster filled with young proven talent. He also discusses his relationship with Colts head coach Shane Steichen, the Irsay family, and the people inside the organization who have helped shape his career. He gives his respect to the other top Backs in the league from Bijan to Derrick Henry to Saquon, even revealing what him and Saquon had in common long before their NFL days...Beyond the numbers, Taylor talks about leadership, accountability, handling adversity, and setting the standard for a team that wants to win. He also breaks down what it will take for the Colts to make the playoffs—what needs to come together inside the locker room, the consistency required throughout the season, and the mindset it takes to make a real postseason run. What does it take to be one of the best? How does he approach the responsibility that comes with being a leader? And what does winning mean to him at this stage of his career? A candid conversation with one of the NFL's elite about the journey that got him here—and the mindset, leadership and commitment it will take to get the Colts where they want to go. Munaf Manji and SleepyJ talk NFL betting. Munaf Manji and Sleepy J opened the 2026 NFL season with their annual season long player props special on The Props Podcast, working through ten different plays across quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end and touchdown markets before locking in their picks to win the Super Bowl. Sleepy J, at 2:38, led off the quarterback discussion backing Jayden Daniels to clear four and a half rushing touchdowns, pointing to his rookie season usage, the season ending triceps injury to left tackle Laremy Tunsil, and one of the most grueling opening schedules in the league for the Washington Commanders. Munaf, at 8:12, answered with a passing yards play on Kyler Murray, betting that a fresh start with the Minnesota Vikings under head coach Kevin O'Connell and alongside Justin Jefferson unlocks the kind of production Murray has shown whenever he has stayed healthy. The running back props brought a pair of contrarian unders, with Sleepy J fading Derrick Henry's rushing touchdown total in Baltimore given his age, a rebuilt offensive line and a new coaching staff, and Munaf fading rookie Jeremiyah Love's rushing yardage in Arizona given a crowded backfield and a team likely to trail often. Wide receiver props sparked the liveliest debate of the show, with Sleepy J backing an under on A.J. Brown's yardage after his move from a concentrated Philadelphia passing attack to a crowded New England receiver room, while Munaf took the other side on Brown's touchdown total, expecting a heavy dose of red zone work in his new offense. Munaf also liked DJ Moore to clear his receiving yardage number after landing with Josh Allen in Buffalo. On tight ends and touchdowns, Sleepy J backed Kyle Pitts to clear his reception total in Atlanta and projected a touchdown breakout for Tetairoa McMillan in Carolina, while Munaf backed a big season for Colston Loveland in Chicago behind an offense chasing record scoring numbers. To close the show, starting at 46:53, both hosts revealed their picks to win the Super Bowl, with Sleepy J going against the grain on the Cincinnati Bengals at long odds, citing a healthy Joe Burrow and a much improved defense, while Munaf landed on the Detroit Lions, calling them a team flying under the radar behind Jared Goff and a talented roster on both sides of the football. The two hosts also touched on the current landscape heading into the season, noting the AFC feels more wide open than it has in recent years and that the NFC is shaping up to be a gauntlet from top to bottom. Throughout the episode, both hosts leaned on usage trends, coaching changes, roster turnover and scheme fit rather than surface level box scores, walking through why certain numbers on the board looked mispriced heading into the year. The show closed with a preview of the busy football schedule ahead, including week zero college football coverage already underway and NFL Week 1 preparation on the horizon, with weekly props coverage set to continue for the entire season on The Props Podcast. Chris Welsh, Derek Brown, Tera Roberts and the Fantasy Dude jump into the Fantasy Pros Draft Wizard for a full standard-league mock draft, looking for the biggest differences from PPR formats. The key theme throughout the draft is simple: touchdown equity matters. The crew debates whether Derrick Henry belongs in the first round, why Saquon Barkley gets a boost, how to value running backs in a format where receptions don't count, and why players such as Kyren Williams, Javonte Williams and Mike Evans become especially intriguing. They also dig into quarterback strategy, late-round RB values, Stefon Diggs as a potential steal, tight end targets, handcuffs, kicker and defense timing, and the best late-round sleepers. If you're playing in a 2026 standard or non-PPR fantasy football league, this is a mock draft you don't want to miss. You don't win your fantasy league in the draft. But you can absolutely lose it there, and it usually happens in the first twenty minutes. Kendall Valenzuela and Peter Overzet go pick-by-pick through every single draft slot, 1.01 through 1.12, and lay out the worst possible way to start your 2026 draft from each one. Not bad players — bad combinations. The two-pick starts that look defensible on the clock and leave your roster broken by Round 4. Then they flip it. Every slot also gets the best way to open, so you're not just walking away knowing what to avoid. Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Christian McCaffrey, Ja'Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Ashton Jeanty, Saquon Barkley, De'Von Achane, Jonathan Taylor, James Cook, Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker, Josh Jacobs, Kyren Williams, Omarion Hampton and Jeremiyah Love all come up, along with Malik Nabers, Nico Collins, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashee Rice, Drake London, George Pickens, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Brock Bowers, Derrick Henry and Josh Allen. Some of these guys show up on both lists depending on where you're picking from — which is the whole point. There is no universally correct start. There's only the correct start from your slot. Find your pick number in the timestamps below and skip right to it.
What is Derrick Henry's value in a standard scoring fantasy football league?
Alfredo Brown and Tera Roberts break down some of the biggest fantasy football debates heading into the 2026 season, including CeeDee Lamb vs. Justin Jefferson, Christian McCaffrey vs. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Allen in superflex leagues, Judarian Price vs. Cam Skattebo, Parker Washington vs. Christian Watson, and when to draft quarterbacks and tight ends. We also react to the Jayden Higgins injury and what it could mean for Nico Collins and Tank Dell, discuss the impact of Najee Harris joining the Giants, debate whether Braelon Allen is worth holding, and look at some of the latest preseason developments affecting fantasy rankings. Plus, we tackle your questions on 12-team PPR, half-PPR, standard scoring, dynasty, keeper and superflex leagues, including draft-slot strategy, running back approaches, wide receiver value, trade decisions and potential league-winning players. If you're preparing for your 2026 fantasy football draft, this is the Q&A you don't want to miss. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler talk betting for Wednesday. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler open their Wednesday, August 19 episode with a full betting agenda, running through a day baseball card before settling into five marquee night games and closing with a detailed look at the Baltimore Ravens win total for the coming NFL season. The show opens at 0:10 with a recap of Tuesday, where a best bet on the Astros fell short as the club managed only one run, while a late addition on the Blue Jays cashed after the market spent the afternoon leaning that direction. The Brewers also delivered a 22 run outburst on a first team total over, and both hosts agree the size of the margin does not change the value of the win. From there the guys turn to Wednesday's slate, beginning at 2:30 with Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins visiting Aaron Nola and the Phillies in an NL East matchup with the total set at eight and a half. Essler leans toward the over given a Phillies lineup that has seen plenty of Alcantara over the years, while Manji reinforces the pick by noting the first two games of this series both cleared ten combined runs and Miami carries one of the stronger road over rates in the league this season. At 4:44 the focus shifts to the Yankees and Orioles, Will Warren opposing Chris Bassitt, where the hosts back the over behind a red hot Bassitt since returning from the injured list and a notable gap in Warren's ERA between day games and night games. At 7:47 the crew previews Logan Gilbert and the Mariners against Dustin May and the Brewers, leaning toward a first five under behind Gilbert's strong seasonal trend in that split and questions about whether Milwaukee's offense stays hot after its outburst the night before. At 10:52 the Nationals and Rangers get a look, Cade Cavalli opposing Kumar Rocker, with both hosts siding with Washington as an underdog given Rocker's recent decline and a soft feeling total that Manji suggests attacking through a Nationals team total over. At 13:34 the Astros and Angels close out the marquee card, Ethan Pecko making his first major league start for Houston against Walbert Urena and the Angels, with both hosts landing firmly on the Angels given the price attached to an unproven starter and Urena's strong personal history against this Astros lineup. Around 16:16 the guys touch on a handful of additional angles, including an under lean in Cincinnati between the Reds and Cardinals and a first five lean on Cleveland behind one of the more reliable arms on the schedule this season. At 18:10 the show pivots to football, and the hosts spend real time on Baltimore's win total of eleven and a half following an 8 and 9 season that kept the Ravens out of the playoffs. They discuss the arrival of new head coach Jesse Minter, the free agent addition of pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, and a schedule that both hosts believe sets up favorably through the middle of the season and into a division heavy closing stretch. Essler walks through the week by week matchups in detail, while Manji highlights Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, and Mark Andrews as offensive pieces who could push the Ravens toward the higher end of their projected win range. Both hosts ultimately back the over on Baltimore, agreeing that a first year coaching staff typically buys the roster some patience regardless of immediate results. The episode closes with the day's best bets, a first five under between the Blue Jays and Rays built around a dominant WHIP from Tampa Bay's starter and a resurgent veteran arm for Toronto, and a Nationals team total over built around a Rangers starter who has struggled both at home and after dark in his recent outings. The hosts wrap by previewing tomorrow's show, which covers the final NFL win total of their series on the Los Angeles Rams alongside a lighter Thursday baseball slate. Former Alabama Crimson Tide national championship quarterback Jake Coker joins Mick Gillispie on another episode of Last Call to break down the biggest storylines coming out of Alabama Football fall camp — including the battle between Keelon Russell and Austin Mack, injuries in the Crimson Tide running back room, emerging playmakers and much more. Who has the edge in the Alabama quarterback competition? Coker and Gillispie discuss what Keelon Russell's ability to create outside the pocket could mean in his battle with Austin Mack, while also looking at the competition and chemistry developing along the Alabama offensive line. The guys also dive into the Crimson Tide's running back depth, the impact of AK Dear's injury, and the players getting opportunities to step up. Plus, they discuss the development of Ryan Williams and Daniel Hill as Alabama searches for its next wave of offensive playmakers. Coker also shares some incredible memories of Derrick Henry's legendary work ethic at Alabama, including the kind of weight-room dedication that helped turn Henry into one of the most physically dominant running backs in college football and the NFL. Then the conversation shifts to Baton Rouge and the growing controversy involving Jayden Daniels and LSU's No. 5 jersey. Coker explains why he believes the program should always be bigger than one individual player and compares the situation to his own experience wearing No. 14 at Alabama, a number previously worn by Crimson Tide names including Don Hutson, Steve Sloan, Tyler Watts and John Parker Wilson.
