Mike Tomlin provided health updates on some critical players. Who do they need the most? Dylan Cook has emerged. Baltimore should give the ball to Derrick Henry over and over again. Would you rather have John Harbaugh or Mike Tomlin? One of these coaches will be on the hot seat with a loss. Jim forgot that yesterday was Tuesday. Will the fans turn on the Steelers (mostly Tomlin) with a poor start on Sunday? Are Steelers fans already expecting something negative to happen? The biggest Steelers stories of 2025. Aaron Rodgers signing leads the way. Watt's contract extension, Heyward's contract dispute, Minkah traded for Ramsey and Jonnu, Metcalf's suspension, the latest Steelers Hall of Honor. Hines Ward missed the HOF cut again. They changed blocking rules because of him.

Week 18 Door Opened, Lions Stumbled The NFL weekend handed the Detroit Lions every break. Green Bay got drilled. Chicago lost to San Francisco. A win-and-in shot with the Chicago Bears in Week 18 sat on the table. Detroit did not hold up its end. The Christmas loss to the Minnesota Vikings turned opportunity into regret. The Vikings were a known entity. They crowd the middle. They blitz. They play downhill. Detroit still walked into the trap. The result felt like a coaching loss from prep to whistle. That sting was familiar. The opener against Green Bay carried the same scent. The Detroit Lions Podcast audience heard the frustration. A good team played small in a gotta-have-it moment. NFC Results That Framed It Everything else aligned. The Packers got blown away. Jordan Love was out. Baltimore rolled, and Derrick Henry ran wild. Malik Willis played well before leaving hurt again. Chicago then dropped a high-scoring thriller to the 49ers on Sunday night. The Bears sit high in the NFC mix, pending what the Rams do. Seattle sits at number one. All of it kept a Week 18 showdown in play. Detroit only needed to cash its Christmas ticket. It did not. The 12 Personnel Trap on Offense The offensive plan made it harder. Detroit leaned into 12 personnel and pounded inside. That shrank the field. Linebackers crept up. Safeties walked down. Put Shane Zylstra or Giovanni Ricci in the slot and defenses do not fear the seam. They crowd the box and choke the space where Detroit wanted to live. Spacing matters. You chase linebackers and safeties off with speed and threat. Kalif Raymond changes leverage. Isaac Teslaw does too. Use them to widen the second level and clear seams. Detroit instead condensed everything and invited contact. Inside runs met free hitters. Protection saw extra bodies and late blitzers. The Vikings love that fight. Detroit gave it to them snap after snap. Irrespective of line play, the structure was off. The Lions drew defenders into the very area they targeted. That is backwards. Against an aggressive front, widen, stress, and punish. Detroit did not. Coaching Heat: Campbell and Morton This one lands on the headsets. Dan Campbell as play caller. John Morton as offensive coordinator. Minnesota started Max Brosmer and had backups across the offensive line. Short week for both teams. The Vikings still looked more prepared for what Detroit would do than Detroit was for what Minnesota always does. That is the rub. The worry now is persistence. Keeping Morton in any capacity invites more of the same. Scheme must create its own luck. Preparation must steal downs. The Lions can manufacture it with smarter spacing, better personnel groupings, and quicker answers to pressure. Week 18 still offers meaning. The path narrowed because Detroit gave it away. The fix is not mystical. It is alignment, speed on the field, and a plan that refuses to play to an opponent's strength. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnAcmdsNjlw #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #minnesotavikings #chicagobears #greenbaypackers #sanfrancisco49ers #jordanlove #derrickhenry #malikwillis #12personnel #lateblitzers #spacing Learn more about your ad choices. On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to look ahead to the team's NFL Week 18 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens that will determine the AFC North race. Will T.J. Watt be available for coach Mike Tomlin's defense with the season on the line? Or will DC Teryl Austin need to rely on Alex Highsmith, Jack Sawyer and Nick Herbig at outside linebacker onces again? And if so, are those guys ready for the challenge of slowing elite Ravens running back Derrick Henry? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks offense. How can OC Arthur Smith and QB Aaron Rodgers get more out of the unit than we saw last week against the Browns? Especially with DK Metcalf and possibly Darnell Washington out of action? Can they compensate with personnel like Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Adam Thielen, Scotty Miller, Pat Freiermuth and others? And get RBs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell more involved? Live around 5 p.m., Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise ponders the coaching matchup in the Steelers' NFL Week 18 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens that will decide the AFC North. Are the Steelers' Mike Tomlin and the Ravens' John Harbaugh coaching for their jobs in this one? Should the loser be fired for missing the playoffs? And who will be the bigger disappointment if they lose? Tomlin with major roster additions including Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey Jonnu Smith and others. And stars like T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward toward the ends of their careers? Or Harbaugh with an MVP candidate at QB in Lamar Jackson and an all-time great running back like Derrick Henry. Paul tackles those questions and more. Then gives his thoughts on Tomlin's weekly news conference. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Paul and Rcon tackle the defensive performance, which involved very little tackling. The Packers will make the playoffs and they will likely be facing the Bears. Are they doomed? Will everyone copy the Ravens' plan? Or is Derrick Henry really a unicorn that can't be replicated, and we should still have hope? Will getting healthier help, or can anything else be done? On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to the NFL Week 17 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Was QB Aaron Rodgers locked in on the wrong receivers with DK Metcalf out amid his suspension? Should names like Scotty Miller, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Adam Thielen be getting the ball as much as they did? Why wasn't Pat Freiermuth in the game more despite proving he's one of the team's better playmakers? Where were RBs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell? And can OC Arthur Smith turn the passing game struggles around in time for Week 18, when the Steelers will face the Ravens in a winner-take-all game for the AFC North title? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders the team's run defense. Was yet another solid outing from the guys up front proof that this unit is ready to face Derrick Henry with the season on the line? To what extent can key players like Cam Heyward, Derrick Harmon, Jack Sawyer, Payton Wilson, Patrick Queen and others slow him down? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. With their season on the line, the Ravens needed a win in Green Bay, and they responded by going out and getting perhaps their most comprehensive one of 2025. Tyler Huntley was on time all night, Derrick Henry ran for 216 yards and four touchdowns, and while the defense did what they do at times (bad things) they forced a few critical turnovers that helped proved the difference in this game. The guys are here to go over a very fun win that in 24 hours could prove inconsequential in the grand scheme of things - but with that in mind, try to enjoy this one even more as a potential fun capstone to an otherwise difficult 2025. Despite two of the most crushing losses we've experienced as Packers fans, the Packers are officially in the playoffs — and that changes everything. No matter what happens against the Ravens on Saturday or the Vikings in Week 18, the Packers are guaranteed at least the 7 seed. That reality completely shifts how we should be thinking about injuries, rotations, and risk management heading into January. We break down what that means for Jordan Love, Zach Tom, Christian Watson, Josh Jacobs, Evan Williams, and several other key players dealing with injuries — and why resting certain guys may actually be the smartest path forward. Then we preview the Ravens matchup, starting with the massive news that Lamar Jackson is doubtful and Tyler Huntley is expected to start. We dive into how the Packers should defend Derrick Henry, why first and second down will decide this game, and what defensive looks give us the best chance to force Huntley to beat us.On offense, we look at how the Packers can attack a Ravens defense that lacks pass rush depth, how the run game should be deployed, and why Jayden Reed is positioned for a big bounce back game. We also address the Packers' recent red zone struggles and what needs to change immediately. This is the last guaranteed home game. The division is still technically in play. The playoffs are locked in. Now it's about health, execution, and making sure we peak at the right time.
On this episode of the JT Sports Podcast, JT breaks down the massive changing of the guard in the NFL and why true league-wide parity has finally arrived with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs missing the playoffs. JT explains how this NFL reset has opened the Super Bowl race to more contenders than ever, why this level of parity can sustain itself, and what it means for the next decade of the league. JT also dives into the long-awaited rise of Trevor Lawrence, why this version of Trevor Lawrence changes the Jaguars' ceiling, and how Trevor Lawrence has officially turned Jacksonville into a real destination franchise. JT calls out the Ravens' baffling misuse of Derrick Henry, explains why Brian Flores was right about Tua Tagovailoa, and why Miami is now paying for it. JT closes by defending the Raiders' decision to draft Ashton Genty, breaking down why elite running backs still matter and how Ashton Genty proved that drafting a back in the top 10 can absolutely be worth it.

Why was Myles Garrett well after the play, credited with half a sack? Jerry is back with the sounds of a local disaster as the Jets surrender eight sacks in a blowout loss and the Giants manage to fall to Vikings backup Max Brosmer after J.J. McCarthy went down. Gio's already scouting for the next Giants regime, falling in love with the "Jersey guy" energy of Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile, while the rest of the league provided pure confusion—from the Ravens inexplicably ignoring Derrick Henry during a fourth-quarter collapse to Mike McDaniel's bizarre post-game presser
Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk weekend football action and much more. Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers recap NFL Week 16 Sunday action, beginning with Sunday Night Football, where the Patriots erased a double-digit deficit to defeat the Ravens 28-24. Lamar Jackson exited at halftime with a back injury, forcing Tyler Huntley into action, while Derrick Henry dominated early but surprisingly stopped receiving touches late. A missed pass interference call on New England did not derail Drake May, who threw for over 380 yards, including a highlight touchdown to Kyle Williams, as the Patriots scored 15 unanswered points capped by a Rhamondre Stevenson rushing score and a game-sealing Zay Flowers fumble. The loss likely ends Baltimore's playoff hopes and sparks discussion about John Harbaugh's future, Lamar Jackson's durability, and the Steelers' path to clinching the division, with praise given to Mike Tomlin's sustained success. The conversation then shifts to awards, with Matthew Stafford emerging as the MVP favorite over Drake May and Mike Vrabel leading the Coach of the Year market. Circa Survivor updates follow before a deep dive into Week 17 market movers, including massive downgrades to the Chiefs without Mahomes, Dallas favored over Washington, Lions and Vikings line movement, Bengals upgrades after an offensive surge, Chargers moving to a pick'em versus the Texans, Raiders versus Giants shaping up as a potential tank bowl, and the growing impact of injuries and motivation late in the season. Eagles versus Bills is debated, with Buffalo trusted more long term than Philadelphia. Attention turns to Monday Night Football, where both hosts like the 49ers on the road against the Colts and lean under the total due to Indianapolis' limited offense with Philip Rivers and a slower game script. Jonathan Taylor usage and George Kittle props are discussed, with Kittle's receiving yards favored due to matchup trends. The show closes with promotions for Pregame bulk dollars, the free College Football Bowl Bash contest, and a preview of upcoming NBA Christmas coverage, emphasizing scheduling value, betting opportunities, and appreciation for listeners during the holiday season.
