0:00 - According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, there was a bit of a rift between Peyton Watson and the Nuggets during his hamstring strain recovery. When he didn't play at all during the playoffs, the Nuggets (reportedly) believed that he wasn't pushing himself so he could protect his upcoming restricted free agency. Right now, we're in the greatest transfer of wealth in human history. How do we facilitate that transfer in a way that best allows for our families and legacies to flourish? In this episode, Jeff and Cale discuss: Looking beyond the KPIs to the FPIs. The six Ps of the Flourishing Performance Indicators (FPIs). How the FPIs can look different from person to person. Recognizing the gaps in our FPIs to make appropriate changes in our lives. Key Takeaways: Language creates clarity. Clarity changes conversations. Conversations, in this aspect, can change families, and then families change futures and outcomes. When we feel hollow or empty or stagnant, those can be indicators that, you know perhaps, there's something going on in our psychological life that could require or that could use some work. Flourishing is not a destination; it's participation. Take inventory of how you are doing in all six of the FPIs. Without putting language to where you are and identifying it, nothing will change. "People who are flourishing with their principles tend to have what one might call a moral code or a strong character by which they live. They align with the decisions that they make and the actions that they take. If we believe in certain principles as a way of living our lives, and we strive to make them a way of being rather than just a checklist, it contributes to all of the other FPIs because it helps us to interact with the world without really losing a sense of who we are." — Cale Dowell Episode References: Flourishing Performance Indicators: A New Framework for Wealth and Legacy - https://humanflourishing.web.baylor.edu/sites/g/files/ecbvkj2151/files/2025-12/KFPI%20December%2019_2025.pdf About Cale Dowell: After diving deep into the hurdles clients face when picking a financial partner, Cale determined that financial advice should offer more than just managing a portfolio. In this episode of Ask Zac, I take a deep dive into Naturally (1971), the landmark debut album that quietly shaped the playing of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty, John Mayer, and countless others. We'll explore the story behind the album, how "After Midnight" and "Call Me the Breeze" helped launch J.J. Cale's career, and why his understated touch, groove, and phrasing became the foundation of what many call the "Tulsa Sound." I also demonstrate some of Cale's signature guitar licks and explain how his simple, tasteful approach influenced generations of players.Whether you're a longtime J.J. Cale fan or hearing Naturally for the first time, this album deserves a place on every guitarist's essential listening list.www.truetone.comTo Support the Channel:Patreon https://www.patreon.com/AskZachttps://ask-zac-shop.fourthwall.comTip jar: https://paypal.me/AskZacVenmo @AskZac#JJCale #Naturally #EricClapton #MarkKnopfler #JohnMayer #TomPetty #Guitar #GuitarLessons #AskZac #VintageGuitar #TulsaSound #BluesGuitar #ClassicRockSupport the show

In this episode, the guys start off with Regional Quirkisms from the Land Down Undah. They then interview Cindy Cale, DNA expert from DNA Mavens, a consulting and training company in Houston, TX. Cindy will discuss 3 topics, all related to testimony of the activity level, with respect to DNA, as well as discuss validation issues in DNA. They first discuss a recent DNA testimony case report titled "DNA analyst's refusal to answer an activity level question did not violate the defendant's right to confrontation" from the Journal of Forensic Sciences (2026; 71:1063-1069) by Ted Hunt. The paper reviews a U.S. Court's reaction to a DNA Analyst who refused to offer any testimony regarding activity level and DNA. Then they discuss a Minnesota case in which Cindy testified for the defense, where the State lab was attempting to introduce a complex 5+ person mixture of DNA from firearms [MN v. Exavier Porter; 55-CR-22-7394]. Defense was ultimately successful in excluding the evidence from trial. Finally, they discuss a second Minnesota case, in which Cindy testified, where the State was attempting to introduce another complicated mixture from a firearm, and make inferences about activity level [MN v. Garry Bell; 62-CR-24-1146]. The evidence was suppressed in this case as well. The guys make parallels to the fingerprint community and why it's important that fingerprint experts pay attention to these issues popping up in DNA. In the third hour of Dover and Cecil, the guys start by looking at the Colorado Rockies. With the trade deadline around the corner, what will the Rockies do? They have several players who are being seen as elite trade targets. Should they cut bait with them and get prospects back, or is it better to keep them around to help develop their young team? The Avs' first game was released earlier today. How do we feel about the first game of the year? Do we like that the NHL has added two extra games? How many records will Cale and MacKinnon break with all of these extra games? The guys break out into an impromptu sandwich ranking. What are your all-time favorite sandwiches?

Ladies and gentlemen and whoever else is listening, welcome back to the show. CONTENT WARNING - The opinions of the host and our guests have not been sanitized or scientifically tested so please consume at your own risk. What happens when someone raised to believe they have all the answers discovers they're no longer sure of the questions? In this deeply personal and thought-provoking conversation, Cale Strong, shares the story behind one of the most difficult decisions of his life, walking away from the LDS Church only days after entering the Missionary Training Center. While many know his story through his father, Jeff Strong's book Torn: Why People We Love Are Leaving the Church and What We Can Learn from Them, this episode gives Cale the opportunity to tell his own story in his own words. Rather than attacking faith or defending disbelief, Cale explores the emotional, relational, and cultural realities that often accompany faith transitions. He reflects on feeling unheard, the unintended harm that can come from trying to "fix" people, and the difference between loving someone as they are versus seeing them as a project. Together, Brian and Cale discuss family relationships, missionary culture, agency, judgment, belonging, and what genuine Christlike compassion can or should look like, even when people reach very different conclusions. Whether you're firmly rooted in your faith, wrestling with difficult questions, or trying to better understand someone you love, this conversation offers an invitation to replace assumptions with curiosity and fear with empathy.
