On Prophecy Radio episode #149, Karen and Kristen discuss Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3, "We Board the Princess Andromeda." They still don't have much news to discuss, but there was more than enough to talk about between the episode and recapping all the most interesting behind-the-scenes facts from the Official Percy Jackson Podcast. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. Quick news segment Rick posted two photo dumps on Insta with some behind the scenes bits and memories from when they were shooting and prepping for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 3 discussion (00:07:28) Clarisse goes full warrior when confronted with the creepiness of the Oracle. We dig deep about why we think they chose Clarisse to read the prophecy to Clarisse. Clarisse doesn't share the whole prophecy with us... interesting. Let's check out this cruise ship... Why doesn't Tyson have similar powers to Percy (versions of Poseidon's abilities)? Percy chooses trust over anger and we are both impressed with his maturity. The return of "boon"! Clarisse and Ares get some screen time together for the first time. Clarisse's quest isn't really a quest since she's alone. Adam Copeland is really the very best Ares we could have hoped for. We hope we see this godly greeting thing between demigods again. Allison Simms falls overboard, but it's not goodbye. Mitch from Blockbuster might be the best new addition to this series. Was Annabeth invoking "boon" because of the Great Prophecy or was it just to keep Percy from killing Luke so soon? Kronos smells worse than monsters to Tyson. The children of the gods deserve freedom (demigods, monsters, et al) but what about humans? We learn so much from this convo with Luke, Annabeth, and Percy. Tyson saves the day by building a bomb?! Clarisse gets a Braveheart speech, and its the perfect motivation for her crew. Annabeth goes rogue and gives Percy the bare bones of the Great Prophecy. "What do you think?" We think there are SO many layers to that question. Scenes from next week: Annabeth looks in a sewer, Clarisse and Percy fight on the beach, Thalia makes an appearance (must be a flashback), we get our first look at the Sea of Monsters. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast highlights (01:25:54) Dior Goodjohn is the major guest in this episode. Even the official podcast has a fatal flaw. Aryan got to train with the camera department during this episode. How cool that the kids get to learn both the art and technical side of filmmaking. Dior talks about Clarisse's backstory, and especially her mom. Bad parental relationship representation is as important as a good one. Motley crew of loser soldiers for the win. The creation of Blockbuster Mitch is a perfect Rick-Riordan-esque addition. That sea shanty came together on set after shifting it away from being too dirgy. Will every episode 3 start with the Oracle in the attic? Allison Simms will give us more and more understanding of Luke and what's going on in his head. Craig Silverstein explains how they go about deciding what to keep and what to cut from the books. Adam Copeland calls in from England and talks about Ares motivations as a father and how he relates to this storyline with Clarisse as a father in the real world. Adam is definitely an actor in our book. Listener Feedback (01:46:12) Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 150 (!!), where we'll recap Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 4, as well as the next episode of the Official Percy Jackson Podcast.
