What is Data Driven Fasting? And what is the Data Driven Fasting Challenge? The creator of “DDF,” Marty Kendall, is here to share all you need to know. I was also fortunate to participate in the April 2021 DDF Challenge. From my time with Marty and my time in the challenge, I gleaned some amazing takeaways that could be effective tools for all of us. On part one I interview Marty on DDF and on part two I share my top takeaways from my personal DDF challenge experience. Marty explains how intermittent fasting has helped many people get healthier without the hassle of tracking food. But, sadly, for some, fasting doesn’t always provide the benefits they had hoped for long term. While fasting has many benefits, when we get REALLY hungry, some of us gravitate to energy-dense nutrient-poor foods that quickly undo all our discipline. Marty’s fascinating approach to achieve long term success is to find the minimum effective dose of fasting that provides long term results without pushing your body so hard that it rebels—leaving you trapped in an endless restrict-binge cycle. Today Marty will describe how his DDF challenge can be a life-changing tool for you. Marty Neumeier is a best-selling author and speaker who writes on topics of brand and design. Today Marty spends most of his time lecturing all over the globe about the role of creativity and innovation in the creation of relevant and meaningful brand experiences. Marty has written several best-selling books including The Brand Gap which outlines how to bridge the distance between business strategy and design; ZAG which introduces “onliness” as the true test of a brand strategy; and The Designful Company which offers leaders a blueprint for building a culture of innovation through design thinking. ZAG was named one the “100 Best Business Books of All Time.” In 2013, Marty published Metaskills: Five Talents for the Robotic Age, a deep dive into the future of workplace creativity. He then wrote The 46 Rules of Genius as a “quickstart guide” to “Metaskills.” His latest book The Brand Flip is the long-awaited sequel to The Brand Gap. It offers a simple formula for addressing the changes brought by social media and the rising power of customers. Marty was also commissioned by Google Brand Lab to write the Dictionary of Brand, a relational glossary containing 500 interconnected terms in brand strategy, advertising, design, innovation and management. The Dictionary of Brand is the first step in creating a “linguistic foundation” -- a set of terms that allow specialists from different disciplines to work together in a larger community of practice. When Marty is not lecturing or writing, he is facilitating inspirational workshops or providing consulting services to companies the likes of Apple, Google, Microsoft, Skype, Twitter and Patagonia. In this Podcast, Allan and Marty talk about the difference between brand and personality, which skills make up the best leader, the importance of empathy and the power of a well-written email. When Martin Kihn was a disgruntled marketing consultant, he wrote a book called House of Lies. Millions of copies sold, a television offer, nearly five seasons and 58 episodes later, that tale has been heard in one form or another by the masses.. But, Marty’s marketing story didn’t end there. Today Marty is the SVP of Strategy for Marketing Cloud at Salesforce and he joined Marketing Trends for an in-depth conversation on what he sees happening in the industry today. Plus, he discusses his new book and why data continues to push marketers forward. Main Takeaways Shift Happens: The fundamental aspects of marketing have changed. It’s now less about being creative and more about understanding what your data is telling you. As a marketer, you need to understand what your data is telling you and how it relates to your consumer. Then you need to inject that data into their experiences and influence them in the proper moments. Just Out Here Browsing: Browsing companies are taking a more prominent role in the marketing landscape. The level of connection between the consumer and the device is growing. Any businesses currently competing against companies that own major browsers are struggling to keep up with the level of data those companies collect. Fall Guys: As a competitor, you must organize your customer data. If you continue to stand still, and don’t empower your data, you will fall behind as a marketer. And those companies that stand still completely and do nothing with their data, will likely be out of business within five years. --- Marketing Trends podcast is brought to you by Salesforce. Agency Nation Radio - Insurance Marketing, Sales and Technology
The landscape of the insurance industry is changing. Today Marty and Ryan talk about an overlooked demographic, the shopper. “One of the ‘new normal’ behaviors is the fact we want to get a deal on everything.” — Marty Agather Shoppers are clients who look for the best deal when choosing a major purchase. Shoppers exist in all industries, but independent agents often make the mistake of considering a “shopper” as a waste of time. The truth is shoppers can be one of the most loyal of customer bases. Shopping is an American cultural activity. It is celebrated and encouraged.
