Matthew McDermaid grew up around vineyards. His family own two vineyards in the Sonoma Valley, GlenLyon Vineyards & Winery and Two Amigos Winery. Determined to make the most of his current Wine Business Professional MBA training at Sonoma State, he is is also interning at the family run Meeker Vineyard and Winery. He was currently full-bore with the harvest until the Kincaid Fires hit and the teams were all evacuated. Avina sends our wishes and prayers for the best possible outcome in this area. In addition to going full bore with the Meeker harvest, his very own vineyard just yielded around 1.6 tons, eventually 100 cases of Cabernet Franc as a starting point. We were fortunate enough to chat with Matthew about recent work days, current trends in wine business and social media and how he feels that the industry could reach out to younger generations.
