Kneet Music joins Greg and Marc for a deeply personal conversation about trauma, healing, advocacy, and the power of creativity to help us rebuild our lives. Born in Thailand and now living in the United States, Kneet shares her journey through an abusive relationship, a years-long custody battle, and the ongoing fight to protect and advocate for her son. The conversation explores how music became both a refuge and a vehicle for healing, leading to the release of her singles "Rise," "My Man," and "To The Moon." Along the way, Kneet reflects on identity, recovery, cultural differences between Thailand and America, the challenges facing parents navigating family court systems, and the importance of continuing to create even in the midst of uncertainty. At its heart, this episode is about resilience, rediscovering yourself after trauma, and finding the courage to transform pain into purpose.

On Your World of Creativity, we travel around the world talking with creative practitioners who turn ideas into impact. In just the past few episodes, we've been (virtually) exploring creative centers like London, Sydney, and Las Vegas — along with vibrant hubs like Pittsburgh and Austin. Today, we're in New York City… and even making a stop in Times Square ... with a guest who has quite literally taken her voice global.I'm joined by Kneet — a Thai Sikh Punjabi independent artist blending Bollywood glam with hip-hop swagger. Her music explores identity, resilience, cultural fusion, and creative reinvention. Her breakout single “RISE” hit #1 on Apple Music video charts and appeared on Times Square billboards — marking a defining moment in her independent journey. She's continued that momentum with her latest release, “My Man.”But beyond the music, Kneet brings a powerful lived experience — navigating motherhood, advocacy, and systemic challenges — while completing her Master's in Developmental Psychology.Today, we're talking about Creative Cultural Expression… and the Power of Voice.Kneet is a global independent artist whose sound blends pop, hip-hop, soul/R&B, and cinematic storytelling — shaped by a life lived across cultures. Her work is rooted in truth — transforming personal experience into universal expression. Whether through music, advocacy, or storytelling, she is reclaiming voice, honoring identity, and creating space for authenticity.1 — Identity as Creative FuelKneet, your music feels deeply rooted in identity — cultural, personal, and emotional. What first inspired you to use music as a way to express who you are and what you've lived through? How has your Thai Sikh Punjabi background shaped your sound, your storytelling, and the way you show up as an artist?2 — The Power of VoiceThis episode is really centered on the idea of “the power of voice.” What does that mean to you — both as an artist and as a person navigating real-life challenges? Was there a moment in your life where you realized you had to stop surviving… and start choosing your voice?3 — Creativity as Healing & TransformationYour work carries emotional depth — it feels like more than performance, it feels like processing and transformation. How does music become a tool for healing when words alone aren't enough? You're navigating intense personal experiences while continuing to create. How do you stay grounded and protect your creative energy during those times?4 — Turning Personal Story into Universal ConnectionOne of the most powerful things about your music is how personal stories become something universal. How do you translate your lived experience into songs that resonate across cultures and audiences? Why do you think so many strong voices — especially women — are often misunderstood, and how does reclaiming your voice shift that narrative?5 — Rising as an Independent ArtistYour single “RISE” hitting #1 and appearing in Times Square is an incredible milestone — especially as an independent artist. What did that moment represent for you?For other artists listening, what are some practical ways they can unlock their voice, build confidence, and create opportunities without waiting for permission?SummaryToday we explored what it means to create from identity, to reclaim your voice, and to use creativity not just as expression — but as transformation. From blending cultures into a unique artistic sound…to turning personal challenges into global connection…to rising as an independent artist on your own terms…Kneet's story reminds us that our voice is not something we're given — it's something we claim. If you enjoyed this episode, take a moment to subscribe, rate, and review Your World of Creativity on your favorite podcast app.It helps more creative voices like Kneet's be heard around the world. And come back next time, as we continue our journey… unlocking… Your World of Creativity.

“Man, I was selling football cards out front of my mama's house before I even knew what entrepreneurship was.” From hustling mixtapes and vintage football cards to building District 81, one of Detroit's most iconic streetwear brands, Ty's story is a testament to the grit and creativity that fuel Black Detroit's legacy. In this Detroit Is Different episode, Ty sits down with Khary Frazier to chart his journey from Inkster block parties to national fashion floors, from designing for Fairlane's elite shops to co-owning restaurants, nightclubs, and now producing films like My Man, My Man, My Man. Through it all, Ty keeps circling back to the spirit that defines Detroit hustle: family, resilience, and vision. “The streets always hiring,” Khary reminds him—and Ty shows what it means to flip that same survival instinct into generational business. Their conversation connects Detroit's past—the migration from Mississippi, the rise and fall of factory jobs, the pulse of 90s hip-hop—with its future in fashion, film, and food. This episode is a masterclass in how Legacy Black Detroit keeps reinventing itself, always with love, risk, and rhythm at the center. Canções como Summertime, My Man's Gone Now e I Got Plenty o' Nuttin emergem como clássicos eternos, capturando a alma da música norte-americana.Participam deste episódio: Grace Passô, Maíra Ferreira, Luiz-Ottavio Faria, Latonia Moore, Marly Montoni, Jean William, Betty Garcés, Juliana Taino, Edineia Oliveira, Núbia Eunice, Edna D'Oliveira, Michel de Souza, Mikael Coutinho e Samuel Martins.Podcast realizado pelas bolsistas Débora Oliveira, Mirella Lima e Triz Cristina, sob supervisão de Ligiana Costa.

(S4 Ep 17) Nina Simone- Sings the Blues (RCA)Released 1967, Recorded December 19-January 5, 1967Nina Simone Sings the Blues is a powerful, emotionally raw album that marked a significant shift in Nina Simone's career. Her first release with RCA Victor showcases her deep connection to the blues tradition, drawing influence from legends like Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday. With tracks like "Do I Move You?" and "Backlash Blues," inspired by Langston Hughes, Simone's music captures the racial tensions and personal struggles of the 1960s. Although it didn't chart highly, the album's authenticity and emotional depth solidified her place as one of America's greatest musical voices. The album blends jazz, blues, gospel, and soul, with Simone's poignant piano work and powerful vocals leading the way. Tracks like "I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl" and "Real Real” showcase her mastery of the genre and her unapologetic, bold musical style, influencing future artists like Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill.Signature Tracks: "My Man's Gone Now,"  "Backlash Blue,"  "I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl." Full Albums YouTube  Spotify Playlists      YouTube Spotify

Have you wondered what God is doing in the night? Has God seemed distant? Or disinterested?  'Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ' Exodus 14:21 ESV  God is working in the night until the morning dawns. He sees you. He is working on your behalf. Hold on, dear one. Don't give up. God is able to bring you the dry land.  This week I celebrate eleven weeks of marriage to My Man, Earl Price. We have been having great communication about how we are doing. The challenges have become easier because we are serving each other with joy.  This morning God led me to write Earl an email thanking him for the top 10 ways I have felt his love in the last 48 hours. As I reflected on the top ten ways I have felt Earl's deep love for me, they include all of the five love languages. I find that very interesting that God showed me clearly how Earl is learning to love me so well. Here are few examples of what I wrote to him this morning. Would you consider writing a love note to people in your life thanking them specifically how they are loving you in this current season? Even if it feels like so much darkness, be the bringer of light into the equation and see how the God of the Impossible works on your behalf.  Acts of service—Earl brings me tea every morning  Quality time—he is playing golf with me a few evenings a week instead of with his regular group to give me confidence on the course  Gifts—he has ordered toilet paper on Amazon and it will arrive before we run out!  Physical touch—This does not need much elaboration (HaHa) but we know this gift of touch is one God has given us.  Words of Affirmation—I think this is maybe my strongest need and Earl is hitting a home run with this love language. He brags on my golf game and my cooking and my personality and who I am in God.  My recipe for this week is so easy and so delicious. We are eating cleaner and healthier now for one week. Earl has lost a few pounds and my success is that I have not gained. Waiting for my metabolism to kick in to higher gear without sugar.  Baked Chicken Pesto with Fresh Mozzarella  Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Lay unthowed chicken breasts (thinner are best, you can also use thighs) in a baking dish oils with olive or avocado oil. Pour fresh pesto sauce to cover each breast. (I use the fresh pesto from Costco.) Layer with fresh tomato slices. I used halved cherry tomatoes to cover each chicken breast. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. Then remove from oven and add two slices of fresh mozzarella cheese on each breast and return to the oven for another 5 minutes or until melted. I doubled the recipe and had left-overs and it was as good the second night reheated.  I served it with a high protein red lentil pasta and fresh no sugar marinara sauce. The red lentil pasta was not our favorite and not sure it was worth the high protein for the cardboard texture and taste. Haha! #easychicken #newrecipe #mozzarella #pestochicken #freshmozzarella  #singanewsong #grievewell #golfgame #firsteighteen #Cookforhim #eathealthy #allnightlong #fivelovelanguages  #newmarriage #enjoylife #hospitality #newrecipes #golfgame #learnsomethingnew #enjoy #prayer #hopelives #elevenweeks #relationshipgoals #marriagegoals #communication #listthegoodthings #godisworking #inthedarkness #allnight

Isn't it "people who DON'T need people are the luckiest people in the world?" It's the Gospel according to Barbra! Today we look at the role that made Barbara Streisand's early career: the role of Fanny Brice in Jule Styne & Bob Merrill's 1964 musical Funny Girl and the 1968 film directed by William Wyler.   We talk about: The Greatest Star: The phenomenon of the original Fanny Brice, how Barbra got involved in the project, and where the line between ego, strength, and vanity lies. The Audience: The sacred relationship between performer and audience and Barbra's theory of audience (or—in a religious context—a congregation) as a truth barometer. The Patriarchy: Nick Arnstein & Fanny Brice's relationship, Barbra & her male collaborators, the creep factor of "You are Woman," and the dangerous myth of romantic love (attention straight people: beware writing your own vows!) The Parade: Is "Don't Rain on My Parade" a feminist anthem? The People: What's the theology of people who need people? Is this just a hymn to extroversion, or does it channel Archbishop Desmond Tutu's theology of ubuntu?   You'll hear: – The 1968 Film Soundtrack: "I'm the Greatest Star," Omar Shariff and Barbra singing "You Are Woman, I am Man," "My Man," "Don't Rain on My Parade" and—of course—"People."   Continue the conversation with us on Instagram and The Platform Formerly Known as Twitter (@gospelofmt).

Meanwhile in the world of Youtube, Logan Paul and Dillon Danis have one of the worst televised boxing fights. SNL is back which leads to a discussion about Ice Spice's stage presence. Finally, we responded to two voicemails today. Tune in as the guys discuss all of this +more!Follow The Team:Rory - https://www.instagram.com/thisisrory/Mal - https://www.instagram.com/mal_bytheway/Eddin - https://www.instagram.com/thankyoueddin/Julian - https://www.instagram.com/julian__nicholas/Demaris - https://www.instagram.com/demarisagiscombe/

Who really invented rock n roll? The facts are clear—it was Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the Black queer gospel-influenced rock and roll Beyoncé of the 1930s and ‘40s. Music legends like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash stole her musical style without proper acknowledgement or credit. In a renaissance of sound, celebrity and high drama we salute the legend Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Drapetomaniax is created by Michael Harriot in collaboration between OtherTone, Sony Music Entertainment and Queer Media.
