Hundreds of people are backing a grieving mum's campaign for dogs to be banned from a cemetery - after she saw the animals “weeing on headstones”.She says she's been left “absolutely disgusted” by walkers letting their pets run around and defecate while she is visiting her 16-year-old daughter's grave. Also in today's podcast, two people have been violently attacked near their homes after complaining about a neighbour's music being too loud.A Halling woman has appeared in court, accused of hitting, punching and scratching them when they confronted her. You can hear from a Kent MP who's urging the government to “finish the job” and extend the Elizabeth Line into Kent. MP Jim Dickson says it was originally meant to run through the Ebbsfleet – which would benefit the thousands of new families that are due to move into the area. There was disappointment for Gillingham last night after they secured a win in the EFL Trophy, but couldn't do enough to make it through to the knockout round. We've got reaction from manager Mark Bonner. And the mystery as to why an historic clock on a Kent high street runs more than an hour slow could, finally, be solved. The landmark in Folkestone is more than 100 years old but is now useless for anyone who needs to know the time.

Send us a Text Message. In this episode, hosts Ben and Daphna discuss several recent neonatology studies. First, they examine an algorithm developed by Shah et al. for the timely detection of hypothyroidism in preterm infants based on gestational age and TSH levels. Next, Daphna reviews a study by Halling et al. comparing initial endotracheal versus intravenous epinephrine administration during neonatal resuscitation. While endotracheal epinephrine was given faster, IV epinephrine achieved return of spontaneous circulation more quickly. They also discuss studies on the feasibility of using intranasal human milk as stem cell therapy for intraventricular hemorrhage, the association between relaxation interventions and human milk outcomes, and the timing of red blood cell transfusions in relation to necrotizing enterocolitis risk. Finally, Daphna highlights a one-year follow-up of the WISER intervention, showing sustained reductions in burnout and depression among NICU healthcare workers.Throughout the discussion, Ben and Daphna provide thoughtful analysis and identify areas needing further research. They conclude by reminding listeners about a survey with prize giveaways in honor of The Incubator's 3-year anniversary. Jessica Halling and her husband, Brad, are Army veterans and proud owners of what will become the newest distillery in Moore County, NC – the Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko. (BHAWK). The destination distillery is expected to open in early 2024, just in time for the U.S. Open which is set to be played at Pinehurst No. 2 in June of that year. The campus will be located off Yadkin Road in Southern Pines, very close to the intersection of Midland Rd. and Highway 1. The Hallings began their journey to business ownership three years ago. Throughout 2020 and 2021, the two decided to divide and conquer and received both formal and informal training to learn the skills required to successfully run a distillery. Jessica attended distillery operations training and Bradley attended distillers training, including receiving an opportunity to shadow master distillers and a full distillery team. Along with brewing up whiskey, the brand will also focus on “expressing Gratitude™ for extraordinary service by common Americans, both uniformed and private citizens.” According to the Halling's social media, a feather will be a prominent part of the BHAWK campus design, serving as a nod to the fallen. “Our lives have been dedicated to service,” said Halling. “The BHAWK Distillery Campus in Southern Pines, NC and BHAWK's purpose driven brands are a second calling. Our vision to honor others was clear from the start, and we just wouldn't have it another way.” The Hallings are part of that large Sandhills military community. Jess was a Russian linguist and interrogator during her time in the service. She retired in December 2020 with a combined reserve and active career of 29 years. Brad joined the Army in 1980 and participated in the Battle of Mogadishu (the battle that the "Black Hawk Down" book and film are based on) in 1993. During the battle, he suffered injuries when the Black Hawk helicopter he was on was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. His left leg was amputated above the knee. #BHAWK #MooreCountyNC #SouthernPinesNC #Armyveterans

For many entrepreneurs, rather than feeling good about getting things done, some are left with just feeling bad about themselves and their effort. This is because productivity is designed to meet the needs of other people, not our own needs. To highlight this point and to get a better grasp on how to properly define productivity, we invited Sandra Halling to the show. The Nordics Unveiled is back after a short Christmas break, and Eldbjørg Hemsing is welcoming you to join her exploration of the Nordic. In the new episode, she is joint by composer Synne Skouen, without exaggerating one of the most prominent people in Norwegian music life. Celebrated as a composer, recipient of numerous awards and accolades, highly respected journalist and music critic, and we could continue naming. Synne was also the first editor-in chief of the music journal Ballade and head of cultural channels at Norwegian Broadcaster NRK.Celebrating her 70th birthday in 2020, Synne continues inspiring generations of women across the cultural field.“I have said this a few times to some of the performers – if you are not really working with living composers and only playing the big masterworks, then you are surfing on all the previous generations of artists that have been building this tradition. And to put it simply, it is just not fine to do so and not even fun.”Synne Skouen, The Nordics Unveiled«…there is certainly not an easy answer to character of the North, but if you come from Europe to Copenhagen, then you come to Scandinavia or the North. If on the other hand you go from Oslo to Copenhagen, then you come to Europe. And if going from Oslo to Stockholm or Copenhagen, you can also see where the rich North has been before the arrival of oil to Norway.”Synne Skouen, The Nordics Unveiled“… composer does not know everything about their music and it takes a musician to show them what is there. The best thing that can happen to a composer is to work with musicians, where they bring out something that even them didn't know it is there.”Synne Skouen, The Nordics Unveiled“I think its important to get the opportunity at the very young age to get to see your own country and culture from the outside. It is necessary and I wish many would be able to experience it. I was very privileged to get to experience this with studying in Vienna.”Synne Skouen, The Nordics UnveiledMore information about Synne Skouen and her music on the following link.

In the new episode of the Nordics Unveiled, Eldbjørg Hemsing is joint by one of Europe's most accomplished and innovative percussionists Terje Isungset. With over two decades of experience in jazz and Scandinavian music, Terje has already made a significant mark in pushing the musical boundaries far beyond tradition. His distinctive artistic works are exploring the interdisciplinary performances of sound and shamanistic rituals.Crafting his own instruments from natural elements such as arctic birch, granite, slate, sheep bells and most remarkably the ice. Terje is highly recommended to those sensible to the poetry and simplicity of sounds, with ‘timbres' and ‘colours' being central in his music and compositions.Media praises him as innovative, visual, energetic and different from any previously known concepts. Percussion Profiles publication has listed him among the 25 of the world's most creative percussionists and he was also named the Norwegian Jazz musician of the year.“It was years ago, when I was asked to do a concert in a frozen waterfall in Lillehammer. I thought what should we do, work against or with nature? So I decided to work with nature, went to location and started to collect stones, wood and since I was there in the winter I also checked the ice… When I head the sound of ice and saw it, I just simply fell in love and from then on, cannot stop it.“Terje Isungset, The Nordics Unveiled"First you need to harvest the ice, which is the most challenging part. But even before harvesting, it is crucial to know that the lake (where the ice will be harvested from) has sound – not every lake has the sound. If the ice is there, I can make instrument in between two to three days. Then we can make various types of horns, ice drums, iceophones that can be tuned."Terje Isungset, The Nordics Unveiled"If I go to perform in India, China or Japan, we always make the instruments there. Sometimes I bring a little box of ice also from Norway, because I have experienced, for example in Japan that it is difficult to find a well-sounding ice. I can of course always tune it, but the sound difference would effect the music because of the resonance. The range of sound is really big, from a completely death sound, to almost singing. The longest resonance I had with one instrument was 18 seconds."Terje Isungset, The Nordics UnveiledMore information about Terje Isungset and his music on the following link.

Known for his innovative and playful dance projects, Hallgrim is continuously breaking physical, psychological and cultural barriers. His projects had been performed in more than 30 countries and have reached over 100 million views on YouTube. Most interestingly, his performance has also been censored by Catholic Church in Italy. Hallgrim has in 2006 founded his own dance company FRIKAR, artistically leading a space where Norwegian traditional folk dance and other sub-cultures within dance community can experiment, develop and nurture the heritage by sharing it to the future generations. "In the Nordic countries we share a common heritage of social dances, with a lot of whirling in a couple formation. There is a common use of circle dances, but Halling is kind of different, almost a 'Flamingo dance of the Nordics'. ... I tend to disagree from the majority of dances who believe Halling is a male dance, as there is several written sources from 1700 about high-quality female dancers."Hallgrim Hansegård, The Nordics Unveiled"It is both interesting and strange that we have such big regional differences. Even in the mood with music and dance. In the Southern part of Norway they are known for a more dark mood, heaviness in the dance. And in Valdres, most of Hallings are pretty happy and light, and our Springar is the most leaning forward, which is really good for the trance dancing."Hallgrim Hansegård, The Nordics UnveiledMore information about Hallgrim Hansegård and his work with FRIKAR work on the following link.

Tabatha Valls Halling is first up, and in this week's episode we chat through how she got started in motorsport, valuable lessons she's learnt along the way, and the advice she still uses to this day. Tabatha began her motorsport journey in a very public way, as one of Bridgestone's e-reporters in 2008, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. With stints working with agencies, Formula 1 and Endurances teams, as well as drivers, she's collected a wealth of experience throughout the sport before cleverly identifying a gap in the market and launching her very own production house, Press Play Productions, specialising in social media content. In just two years, she has grown her client list and her services to cover a wealth of ideas and content creation, and it's been a pleasure to watch her succeed.
