Brandon and I finish a long day of recording with a conversation about Armagnac as well as finding out the differences between it and other Yacs. In todays episode Brandon and I talk about Nashville Barrel Company. We try three samples of MGP low rye MGP sent to me by NBC. This low rye MGP was aged in my favorite all be it closed cooperage Barrel 53 out of Missouri. I've been a fan of this cooperage ever since I had it on a trip to Smooth Ambler 5 or so years ago.

This week Brandon and I review a sample sent to us by River Roots. At the time I didn't know the details of the sample. Since the Ep I have learned what it was we were drinking. It was a 3 barrel blend. All three barrels were 11 year KY bourbon. 2 barrels were further aged in 20 year light whiskey barrels. The light whiskey barrels concentrated the whiskey and intensified the structure (according to Ryan from RR). The LW added 10 proof points to the whiskey that was put into them. after the LW aging Ryan thought it was unbalanced so he added all three barrels brought back together and then put into 8 year wheated bourbon barrels. He did that to round out the flavor and soften the rough edges.

Brandon, Aman, and I sample the first in the line of guest blender small batches from Oynx and Amber. We also sample an Amans store pick.

This week we are back at Aman's table running back an old episode concept trying "airline" bottles I bought at Total Wines. We also try a sample sent to me by a friend from a small barrel distiller. So we discuss why small barrels aren't used more often.

Brandon and I talk about our favorite NDPs and the up and coming NDPs in our opinions. We get into the weeds alittle on it and we go off topic a bit also.

Brandon and I discuss the big bad bourbon bubble and Jim Beam shutting down. What all this means if anything to you as an everyday drinker.Bonus I give Brandon a whiskey brand and he gives me the shoe he equates to it.

Brandon and I discuss what Buff Turkey is exactly and how it came to be. We also taste a couple picks done by me.

This week we are introduced to our new co host Brandon. Find us on Facebook at Bourbon Boyz
