Clemmie Burton-Hill mixes classical playlists for music-loving guests. If you fancy giving classical music a go, start here.
The Classical Fix podcast, hosted by Clemmie Burton-Hill, is an absolute gem in the realm of classical music podcasts. From the moment I started listening, I was immediately drawn in by the warm and inviting presence of Linton Stephen, who effortlessly made me feel at home and connected with his music choices. Not only did he make me feel comfortable, but he also extended that same hospitality to his guests, creating a truly inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. It's a wonderful addition to the show that has elevated it from good to outstanding.
One of the best aspects of The Classical Fix podcast is its ability to reconnect listeners with classical music in such a natural and organic way. Through carefully curated music choices, each episode is filled with delightful surprises and new discoveries. The impact that these musical selections have on the human psyche is remarkable and reminds us of the profound beauty and significance of classical music. It's simply awesome to experience this journey through sound.
I was particularly thrilled to hear Clemmie and her involvement with the show. Her contributions are equally beautiful and she has chosen some incredible pieces. I first discovered Clemmie on the Open Ears Project, which I absolutely loved. However, it disappeared for a while, leaving me wondering why. So my hope is that Open Ears Project will return because it was such a fantastic platform for classical music exploration. In the meantime, I will eagerly continue listening to The Classical Fix podcast as it has quickly become another fabulous addition to my podcast lineup.
While there are countless positive aspects of this podcast, one area where it could improve is by expanding its exploration beyond Western classical music. While the show already offers a great variety within the Western repertoire, it would be fascinating to delve into other cultural traditions such as Indian classical music, Chinese classical music or African classical influences. By embracing a more global perspective on classical music, The Classical Fix could broaden its audience even further and expose listeners to an even wider range of musical experiences.
In conclusion, The Classical Fix podcast is a wonderful platform that showcases an astonishing variety of classical composers and their music. Clemency's presentation style is tasteful and eclectic, offering listeners a delightful buffet of music in each episode. Her backstories on composers are an additional treat that enhances the overall listening experience. While there may be some minor downsides with guest commentaries occasionally straying from the music, these do little to detract from the overall enjoyment of the podcast. I wholeheartedly recommend The Classical Fix for anyone looking to expand their classical music knowledge or simply enjoy a beautiful musical journey.
