Repairing not only saves the world from more waste it also creates unique pieces of wearable art, a one of a kind jeans in this case. Pey's main motivation behind creating these pieces of denim art is to take action against today’s fast cycle of ‘use turned to waste’. SashikoDenim only use the traditional japanese mending technique ‘sashiko’ to repair jeans, all by hand, one stitch at the time. He is amongst the worldwide army of denim heads, but his passion for denim (especially for denim branding) stemmed from his tenure as a graphic designer (and then later head of graphics) for Levi’s® Europe. He specialized in recreating artwork from original vintage labels and hardware this involved countless trips to Levi Strauss & Co. archive in San Francisco, enthusiastically studying original pieces and carefully creating new artwork and the reproduction of garments for the LVC ( Levi’s® Vintage Clothing ) collection.
