What does it really take to build a coworking space that becomes a community asset, not just another office? That was one of my favorite conversations with Rob Archer, CEO of Codebase Coworking in Charlottesville, Virginia. Rob has built something special. Codebase sits inside a larger entrepreneurial ecosystem designed to attract talent, support founders, and strengthen the local community. What struck me most was how intentional every decision has been. We talked about the reality of balancing financial responsibility with a bigger mission. Rob doesn't shy away from the numbers. In fact, he broke down coworking economics better than most MBA professors. But he also understands that some of the most valuable parts of a coworking space can't be measured on a spreadsheet. From giving more than 70 hard hat tours before opening, to building deep relationships throughout Charlottesville, to creating a member mix that reflects the broader business community, Rob has shown what's possible when you lead with both strategy and service. We also dug into: How to think about coworking profitability when your vision is bigger than revenue alone Why understanding your market matters more than copying someone else's model The lessons Rob learned launching a 20,000 sq. ft. coworking space Building occupancy before opening day Developing community managers and investing in your team Creating a coworking experience that attracts and retains local talent If you're building a coworking space, this episode is packed with practical insights on growth, positioning, community engagement, and long-term sustainability. And if you've ever wondered whether coworking can be both profitable and deeply connected to its community, Rob's story is a masterclass. Daniel is catching up with Ryan Nelson, founder of Refilled - the Australian hardware startup disrupting the global beverage industry with smart drink dispensers that eliminate single-use plastic waste. Daniel and Ryan break down enterprise sales, raising capital, startup culture, and why hardware might be the next great opportunity founders are overlooking.

Picture this: you've got a massive March launch planned, a to-do list longer than your unicorn tail, and then — you fall UP the stairs, your back seizes, your menstrual cycle murders your ADHD meds, and Mercury decides it's doing SOMETHING (retrograding? microwaving? who knows). In this raw, funny, and deeply wise episode, Leonie Dawson shares EVERYTHING that went sideways in one wild pre-launch week — and the surprising toolkit that helped her claw her way back to clarity, momentum, and joy. From beef liver capsules to frankincense smoke bombs, from kinesiology to emergency osteopath appointments, this is what it ACTUALLY looks like behind the curtain of a successful launch.Leonie also gets beautifully honest about the inner growth that launching demands — the fear, the freeze, the false belief that everyone else has it together while you're in chaos. Spoiler: they don't. And she proves it.Topics CoveredWhat really happens behind the scenes of a launch (the chaos no one shows you)How Leonie's Backstage Pass program was born and why 111 people signed up at $111 (!!!)Supplement timing hacks for neurodivergent brains and Metamucil as a supplement hackEnergy clearing practices: altar work, smudging with frankincense, myrrh & dragon's blood resinGrounding practices before and after deep coaching callsKinesiology and energetic support during intense business seasonsTake Action Club + Grow Mastermind: what they are and how Backstage Pass works inside themEven the most polished-looking launch has chaos behind the scenes. You are not an anomaly. Life happens to everyone. Leonie reframes launching as spiritual and personal expansion — you come out the other side a bigger, wider, more capable version of yourself. Launching is a growth process, not just a sales strategy:Pre-launch energy clearing is real work: Altar reset, saining, grounding before coaching calls — these are not woo-woo bonuses, they are essential maintenance for sensitive and creative entrepreneurs. Backstage Pass shows you the REAL launch: Not the highlight reel — the broken guitar strings, the frozen moments, the daily revenue figures, and the real-time problem-solving that gets results anyway. The months Leonie does structured planning are consistently her highest revenue months. Notable Quotes"In every single person's launch, no matter how polished they look on the outside, life happens. You will lose your faith and your courage and your belief over and over again — and then find it again." "Your bones are literally not aligned. There is no way your energy and spirit can be aligned when your bones aren't." As a result, many creators are bumping up their pre-launch plans. However, is there such a thing as pre-launching too early? Tyler shares some indicators that there might be... Let's discuss.

In this episode, Tina Tower dives deep into the crucial pre-launch phase, explaining why waiting until launch to start marketing is a recipe for lackluster results. Instead, the magic happens in the six to eight weeks leading up to launch, when you're building awareness, desire, and readiness in your audience. Tina walks listeners through the essential elements of an effective pre-launch campaign and actionable steps you can take to set your next launch up for massive success. Key Topics Covered: Pre-Launch Matters: Launching to a “cold” audience almost never works—most successful launches are to people who have been warmed up over weeks. Messaging Is Everything: You need a crystal clear transformation promise, and your audience should know who your offer is for, what it is, and why it matters—well before the launch begins. Content Builds Desire: Use educational content, storytelling, testimonials, and case studies to create both trust and anticipation. List Building Is Essential: The size and quality of your email list directly impact your launch—a robust pre-launch period focuses on effective lead magnets, waitlists, and free trainings. Use Multiple Channels: Promote with live video, reels, LinkedIn events, podcasts, and collaborations to reach new audiences. Boost Engagement: Start genuine conversations with your audience through polls, DMs, and interactive content to raise excitement before the launch. Nurture and Sequence: Set up thorough nurture email sequences for all audience touchpoints to deliver value and build trust. Share Your Why: Open up about the reasons behind your offers—people respond to relatable, authentic stories. Build Anticipation Strategically: Map out an 8-week content plan leading up to launch, steadily increasing your visibility and hype. Avoid Common Mistakes: Don't wait until launch week to promote, and don't “over tease” your audience—always pair excitement with substance. Launching your online course is exciting, but as Tina Tower shared, real success comes from what you do before launch week. By warming up your audience, building your list, and crafting clear messaging, you turn launch week into a celebration, not a surprise. Start early, nurture genuine interest, and you'll see more excitement and conversions when you finally open the doors. Aaron Nosbisch is the founder and CEO of BRĒZ, a cannabis social tonic beverage designed as an alcohol alternative that offers a euphoric, feel-good effect without the downsides of alcohol. What's the opposite of a confident salesperson who makes it easy for you to buy? A nervous salesperson who jumps the gun and makes you want to run away! Today's returning champion, Brenna McGowan, understands this difference all too well. She has mastered the arts of the pre-launch and the launch, and she knows all the big and little differences. Because besides the successful implementers, Brenna's she's also seen nervous copywriters and offer owners jump the gun all too often. And ruin their chances at having a successful launch down the road by spilling too much information too early on! Brenna believes there's a lot of misunderstanding of what a pre-launch does, as well as what it should NOT do. So she agreed to come back on the show and tell us today. Brenna's specialty is pre-launches—warming up your market by letting them get to know you even before your launch begins. Perhaps the best advantage it gives you is it puts you front and center in your prospects' minds, and at the same time gets them eagerly looking forward to getting the full details about what you're going to launch. But a lot of people confuse what to do during a pre-launch and what to do during the launch itself. And that's what she's going to clear up for us today. Here's what we asked her: 1. What's the biggest difference between a pre-launch email and a launch email? 2. What is the role of the pre-launch emails? How do you know if something belongs in a pre-launch email versus a launch email? 3. You say one of the biggest mistakes in launch emails is educating too much. Why is that a problem? 4. Can you give us an example of how a case study email can go wrong in a pre-launch—and how to fix it? 5. How does something you learn in pre-launch affect your launch? 6. Why is it important to adjust your launch copy, based on what you learn during the pre-launch? 7. Let's say someone doesn't have time to write a full pre-launch. What should they do? Thinking about hosting your first retreat or in-person event? In this episode, Marina pulls back the curtain on exactly how she sold out two luxury branding retreats—one in Mexico and one in Greece—in just two months. No big launch. No fancy sales page. Just aligned strategy, soulful marketing, and a lot of heart.

Brenna McGowan is launch strategist and copywriter. She believes that hustle-based, high-pressure program launches don't serve you or your customers. Instead, she teaches a systemized pre-launch process to put leads through so they're primed, pre-sold, qualified, and raring to buy your offer. By leveraging her pre-launch and Anticipation Marketing™ strategies, Brenna's clients have tripled — and even quadrupled launch revenue growth — without the frenzy and chaos they used to feel when launching. She also helps her students inside The Pre-Launch Plan Program create strategic pre-launch plans that've raked in hundreds of thousands in revenue. When Brenna's not strategizing or helping clients launch, you can find her walking in her Northern California neighborhood, continuing her endless search for the perfect white t-shirt, reading cheesy romance books, or coming to terms with soon becoming an empty-nester. TAKEAWAYS:Breanna shares with us her 4 A's for a successful pre-launch. She says that building in these 4 A's before sales period can make a massive difference. One of the first things to do in developing your pre-launch plan is to actually make a plan. Look ahead, get out a calendar, and plan launches at times of the year that aren't around personal and family plans. Launching can be overwhelming and frustrating if not properly planned. People need to see or hear you during pre-launch. Make sure you go live on Instagram, put a video on Youtube or record a private podcast episode. Do what works for you and then you can use that content to repurpose into an email and on other platforms. Launching has a way of bringing up perfectionism - so I'm sharing a behind the scenes look at the most recent PGSD launch and I'm holding nothing back. This is the first part in a two part series that will help normalise the highs and lows of launching (regardless of what kind of business you have). In this episode I talk about some incredibly important concepts that are universal to all kinds of entrepreneurs, including being all-in on selling, how to keep going and showing up fully (even when you're tired and the results aren't where you want them to be). Tune in to listen to the update that I recorded before the launch started all the way to the last day of the launch. I talk through the launch plan and strategy, the self-coaching I'm doing, my thoughts in real-time, and more! Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode502.
