The Nats remain win-less in five meetings with the Padres this season as they were crushed 12-3 on Wednesday evening in Navy Yard. Mark & Al recap Mitchell Parker's rough start as he allowed six runs in only three innings of work. Parker has had three bad outings this month and last earned a win over a month ago. (12:00) Jordan Weems allowed five runs in the top of the 4th; when the game became a laugher. Weems is having a bad season and the hosts wonder what his future is with the team. The contest was so out of reach that Ildemaro Vargas pitched in the 9th, but he did make a fantastic catch on a hard hit comebacker. (20:00) Juan Yepez hit a 2-run HR to briefly Washington a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Yepez has safely had a hit in all 15 games since being called up from AAA. (23:30) James Wood went 0 for 4 but yet again had the top exit velocities in the game. Wood is hitting balls hard, but the results do not bear that out. (29:00) After the game it was revealed that Josiah Gray had Tommy John Surgery and also an Internal Brace Procedure due to his partially torn UCL. Gray likely won't return to the mound until the final portion of the 2025 season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

If you spend any time at all listening to Evangelicals like Andy Stanley, at some point you will hear them use the phrase ‘clobber passages' when talking about Bible verses that are tough to hear, problematic and highly convicting. They are called ‘clobber verses' because of their blunt impact upon the hearer, so much so that they are avoided to a fairly high degree by the same Evangelicals who named them ‘clobber passages' in the first place. The word of God is called a ‘sword' for a reason. On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we look at many of the so-called clobber verses, that touch on a variety of topics and subjects, and are in the Bible for our sanctification. What the evangelicals call a clobber passage, the Bible calls conviction, and yes, they can be tough to hear especially if it's about something we might be struggling with at the time we hear it. For the most part, the ‘clobber passages' are Genesis 19:1-38; Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Romans 1:25-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:9-10 and Jude 6-7. But that's largely as it relates to the LGBTQ crowd, there are a number of clobber passages for heterosexuals as well and we will look at those. God wrote the Bible for our edification, sanctification and learning, we need not be afraid of any passages whether they ‘clobber' or not.

Last night, the Heat and the Sixers had a duel for the ages; Jimmy injured his knee badly and the hobbled Sixers narrowly got the W. Tune in for our reactions today, and then tomorrow we'll have a special second half where we offer some predictions for the remainder of the play-in, as well as the first round of the playoffs!

Live—from the campus of Hillsdale College in beautiful Hillsdale Michigan— this is Scot Bertram in for Steve on the Steve Gruber Show for –Tuesday February 13th 2024— —Here are 3 big things you need to know— One — Police in Houston are releasing more details on the shooter at Joel Osteen's megachurch. Early reports say the shooter Genesse Moreno had a history of mental illness and was involved in a dispute with her Jewish ex-husband. Authorities said Monday that she had an anti-semitic background and a sticker that read "Palestine" was attached to the butt of her rifle. Moreno entered the church Sunday with her seven-year-old son before she was shot and killed by off-duty officers. Two— The price of gasoline increased dramatically in the past week according to Triple A Michigan. The average price went up on average by 26-cents to three-dollars-26-cents a gallon which is the highest so far this year. The price is 40-cents a gallon more than just one month ago. Higher demand and reduction in the gasoline supply are being cited as the reason for the increase. And number three — A Nor'easter is expected to clobber parts of the New England coast with heavy snow and the risk of flooding in parts of Pennsylvania and southern New York Tuesday. Winter storm advisories and warning are also in effect for northern Arkansas, Oklahoma along with parts of Missouri and Kentucky.

De'Von Achane ran for 150 yards and a touchdown as the Miami Dolphins flew past the New York Giants and improved to 4-1 on the year with a 31-16 win at Hard Rock Stadium. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw for two interceptions as the Dolphins scored more than 30 points for the third time this season. Miami's offense turned the ball over three times, but the defense was the story against the Giants. Zach Sieler and Miami's pass rush had 14 quarterback hits and seven sacks as New York's offense failed to score a touchdown. Daniel Jones completed 14 of 20 attempts for just 119 yards. While the Giants didn't turn the ball over, the Dolphins won the game at the line of scrimmage with eight tackles for a loss. I don't know if you saw the news, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just took over the Disney tax district and literally appointed his homies to run it. His memoir comes out today. He's openly homophobic. And is fighting hard to make sure Black history isn't taught in Florida and his base LOVES IT. In case you missed it, the Republican primaries for President are underway. Trump has announced he's running. Nikki Haley has announced. Senator Tim Scott is up next. But I truly believe Ron DeSantis will defeat all of them and win the Republican nomination. He's even more conservative than Trump, but without all of the baggage, lawsuits, criminal investigations, ex-wives, failed businesses, etc. And here's the question that Democrats HAVE TO ANSWER... do you actually think Joe Biden could beat Ron DeSantis. I don't. I don't even think Joe Biden thinks he could beat him. And that's why Biden should announce he's not running for President and Democrats should have a serious primary for a candidate to defeat Ron DeSantis. Let me unpack and explain it.To listen to today's FULL EPISODE of The Breakdown go now to Apple Podcasts or Spotify and search for “The Breakdown with Shaun King.” Subscribe there for FREE and listen to the whole podcast.
