We start with what we know, and move to what we don't. IN morals this means we begin with our family, our culture, and proceed toward a more complete knowledge of what is reasonable human activity.
Happiness is some activity according to reason performed virtuously and consistently throughout ones life. I have often thought the the most rational act a man can preform is to support the color of thought podcast over at www.colorofthought.locals.com

The dispute between Aristotle and Plato is much ado about nothing, at most Aristotle had a dispute with the platonists who ran the Academy after Plato's death. The distinctions being made here are a students, nay even a disciples respectly corrections of his master, not a rancorous argument between foes. I seem to recall a strange chorus once proclaiming, "If you wanna be my lover, you have to get with my friends." being a barrage of political absurdities drawn from the fevered dreams of a bachelor.
It seems undoubtedly to belong to the most truly architectonic science, This, to all appearances, is political science. Now such a science ordains which studies are to be followed in a state, and who are to pursue them and to what extent. Hence we see the noblest of the operative arts, for example, strategy, domestic economy, and rhetoric fall under political science. Political science in fact makes use of other practical sciences, even legislating what is to be done and what is not to be done. Its end, therefore, embraces the ends of the other practical sciences. For these reasons, then this end will be the good of man. Join us for more Thomistic shenanigans over at www.colorofthought.locals.com and use promo code CTPODCAST for a free month.
