Christian Nationalism and Atonement Theory with Greg Boyd

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 14, 2021 32:25

Today we welcome back Greg Boyd on Common Grace. Our conversation touches on Christian nationalism, atonement theory, and peace theology. Atonement theory is considering how and what God did through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Although there are many theories on how the atonement of Jesus saved humanity, there is very little argument within Christianity that Jesus death on the cross offers eternal life. Just War theology is the belief that preserving life and peace sometimes requires resorting to war. Peace Theology comes from a perspective of non—violence and believing that preserving life and peace requires refusing war and violence.  Both perspectives agree war and violence is undesirable and both strive to follow the teachings of Jesus. Common Grace is a place to learn and grow together, A place to disagree and hear new opinions. Although these views are distinct, they don't need to cause division. We hope this episode catalyzes dialogue, learning, and mutual transformation. Let's listen as Greg reminds us it's important to love our enemies, to turn the other cheek, and most importantly always put Christ at the center. https://secure.subsplash.com/ui/access/637H74/ute_cKJAwI_UZSqVeCn1Ut_WwcuqTTqRY3cGq-UlXeSLZApM9HoC0en4pr3ck9FsBu0NebQUhcfAqDCGCrNq-HGuVYjBmjsMPw96obXhKBclVLt6TpzAAE8M6fMbNQXQORahfyqwa04XmOwPTOxlRQ#/ (GIVE)
