Remember, and Keep on Remembering (2 Timothy 2:1-13) || Sean Robinson
Welcome to Revive Ministries Podcast. This month's theme is “Remembering Our Story, Finding Hope,” which can be a positive step toward reminding ourselves of what we have endured and learned. As we head closer to the end of the year, we may find the temptation to compare our lives generally to the lives around us. From my experience, this only discredits the experiences one has faced and can make it harder to remember the lessons we may have endured. This time of year can be a hard time for many people, as we may reflect on those who are no longer with us today. This month I would like to encourage those who are struggling around this time of year to find a community to connect with. If you are in need, please ask for help. Today we will be discussing this topic with Sean Robinson. Disclaimer: if you are in crisis, please seek appropriate professional help immediately. Sean Robinson is a thirty-nine-year-old Author, Speaker, and Motivator who focuses on self-improvement, mindset shifting, and habit formation. He works in the construction industry, is a volunteer firefighter, and lives with his wife and three children in Ontario, Canada. Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking is his first book. Sean, at one time in his life, was angry, overweight, drinking too much, and not the person he wanted to be in life. There were various reasons for these issues, but if you had to sum them up, he never really believed he could do anything different. Sean was raised a certain way and started to form certain beliefs/habits that seemed impossible to break. This isn't some magical story of transformation, where someone went on a quest to find themselves (not there is anything wrong with that). There was no spiritual awakening or near-death experience that prompted the change. Sean was just a person, who eventually realized life could be better than what it was. He realized he could be a better person, husband, and dad than he had been. And through thoughtfulness, dedication, and hard work he turned his life around. Based on life experience and personal growth, he started giving back to who he used to be and started coaching individuals on how to apply these things to their own lives. ---- SOCIALS: Website: https://seanrobinson.ca/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SeanRobinsonMindset Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/seanrobinsonmindset/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@seanrobinsonmindset Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@seanrobinson_?lang=en LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sean-robinson-161723a9/
If you're ready to hear a raw, honest story about breaking free from drinking habits and taking control of your life, this episode with Sean Robinson is for you. More info, resources & ways to connect: https://www.tacosfallapart.com/podcast-live-show/podcast-guests/sean-robinson In this episode of Even Tacos Fall Apart, MommaFoxFire interviews Sean Robinson, a 39-year-old author, speaker, and motivator, who shares his journey of overcoming habitual drinking. Sean, who works in construction and is a volunteer firefighter, speaks candidly about his struggles with alcohol and how it affected his life, relationships, and mental health. Sean grew up in an environment where drinking was normalized. His parents were young, and parties with alcohol were a regular part of life. He recalls learning to mix drinks at a young age and cleaning up after parties, which contributed to his view that drinking was a normal and ingrained part of social life. As he grew older, these habits stuck with him, especially in his construction job, where drinking with coworkers was a common way to bond and share stories. By the end of 2020, Sean's drinking habits had worsened due to the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. He reached 320 pounds and felt mentally and physically miserable. Despite being in a masculine, tough-it-out environment, Sean knew he needed to make a change. He started by venting his frustrations through journaling, which became a key outlet for him. On New Year's Eve, he decided to participate in Dry January, initially focusing on losing weight, but as he progressed, he began to realize how toxic his drinking routine had been. What began as a one-month challenge turned into an extended period of sobriety. Sean continued his journey through February and then decided to aim for an entire year without alcohol. Along the way, he immersed himself in self-help podcasts and books, which helped him develop strategies to maintain his new lifestyle. He became an advocate for personal growth, learning the importance of consistency and accountability. He tracked his progress on a calendar, marking each day he stayed sober, and this visual aid helped him stay motivated. Sean talks about how his transformation also impacted his relationships. He admits that, over time, he naturally grew apart from some friends with whom he had mainly bonded over drinking. However, he also developed stronger connections with new people who shared his new, healthier interests. He emphasizes the importance of being around people who support personal growth. At home, Sean made significant changes in his family life. He began implementing positive habits with his wife and three children, including a new tradition where they shared their favorite thing about each day at the dinner table. This small change helped improve the family's dynamic and encouraged a more positive atmosphere at home. Sean's story is one of perseverance and self-discovery. He stresses that change doesn't happen overnight and that there's no single path to overcoming habitual drinking. He encourages listeners to seek support and explore various resources, including free content like podcasts and social media, to find inspiration and motivation. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mommafoxfire/support
Life gets in the way of our goals all of the time. We can't always be fully committed to all of our goals and aspirations - we also have commitments and.. well.. life. What is important, is that you honor the time your life needs, and the time your goals need, even if the amount you give to each category varies depending on your season of life. The key is consistency. Progress over perfection. Just get back to where you left off. The trail, the road, the mountains... they will all be there for you when you are back. And YOU will be there for you, present and ready to take it on again. Sean Robinson is back to talk all about his journey with navigating training, and life, and consistency. Who opens up and discusses how he overcame his struggles. But most importantly how he came out victorious! I kept journaling as I challenged myself to try taking a break from drinking. I would open up to more things that would help me in my transformation. I was reading and listening to books, listening to hundreds of hours of motivational podcasts and interviews and compounding every bit of it as I tried to implement the things I was absorbing. I would challenge myself to be sober for an entire year (2021) and would maintain my journal throughout. This journal would eventually become my self-published book called "Going Dry - My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking". This has changed my life but this was only year one and I wasn't finished there. Since this book was released, I have maintained my sobriety, started endurance running, have lost over 100lbs and completely changed my mindset and identity. Something that I have been able to maintain as I share with as many people as I can through my social media platforms, personal website, newsletter, podcasts and in person workshops. Change is hard and with the right motivation, we can all do it. We just have to give it time and be patient. This isn't a journey specific to one thing. Episode 188 – Interview with Sean Robinson, author of “Going Dry”In his book, “Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking” – Sean talks about how examples set for him during his childhood led him to believe that he had it all figured out by the time he could legally drink. Residing in the Canadian Province of Ontario, he was legally allowed to purchase and drink alcohol at the age of nineteen.Sean Robinson works in the construction industry and has volunteered with the local fire department since his late teens – he's now thirty-eight years old, so serving others has definitely always been on his heart. In his early days of drinking, he developed a lifestyle and routine around drinking, and that allowed him to feel like he was living up to the standards of expectations he and others in his family had set for him. Those behaviors continued for almost 20 years and that lifestyle was compounded by the pandemic. Two years ago, he found himself in a dark and confusing place, finally reaching the point of knowing something needed to change. But he also soon realized that “change” was going to be much harder than expected. Quoting Sean, “I had a toxic relationship with alcohol”.He was able to work through his own program of changing habits and routines but ultimately his overriding goal was to become a positive example for his children, by changing his attitudes and beliefs about living a positive life. You can purchase his book on all the major outlets, a few are listed here:https://www.amazon.com/Going-Dry-Overcoming-Habitual-Drinking/dp/1778181732 https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/going-dry-sean-robinson/1142120844 Or you can also purchase the book on his personal website:https://seanrobinson.ca You can connect with him via email at: mail@seanrobinson.ca acourageousrecovery.com
In the latest episode of the Simply Fit Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Sean Robinson. Sean Robinson is a volunteer firefighter, father, husband & author of the book ‘Going Dry.' In 2021, Sean found himself weighing 320lbs (that's 145kg) and reached his personal rock bottom.
The choices we make in life have a fundamental impact on the description of the person we want to be. But here is the good news, we have autonomy to make those decisions, choices and moments in our life count for something if we are committed to reaching and sustaining our peak potential. Vices can have a grip on this process. In particular alcoholism can place a firm stranglehold on inching forward in life. According to Statistics Canada, nearly 6 million Canadians aged 12 and over report heavy drinking at least once a month. One in 5 Canadians aged 15+ met the criteria for “alcohol abuse or dependence” over their lifetime. Sean Robinson is an Author, Speaker and Motivator who focuses on self-improvement, mindset shifting and habit forming. He works in the construction industry, is a volunteer firefighter. and lives with his wife & three children in Ontario, Canada. Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking is his first book. He's an Electrician, have worked in the construction sector for almost my whole life. I started on a volunteer fire department in '03. Male dominance and toxic masculinity have been everywhere around me and expected of me constantly. What if I don't want to participate, what if I decide to be different? Other than having the job sites best (and worst) artists plastering your caricature and sexual preferences (correct or not) on every lunch table and porta potty, its just easier to play the game or not say anything. Unfortunately, you may not have any friends and you get laid off because nobody likes you. On to the next job I guess. It is time for the sector to be better. Anyone in the industry will tell you that there are some very prehistoric rules, both written and unwritten and that "it's always been this way." Recently I decided to take a break from drinking alcohol. When everyone around me stopped laughing, asked me what my problem was, accused me of judging them for still drinking and then added my picture to the previously mentioned porta potty wall, I only had to get out of my own head. This is much harder than we think. Out of sight from my peers and far enough from the lunch trailer, I decided to open my mind up to the world of self-help and betterment. So many things that were not for the man I was and the man I was expected to me because of my social circles. I could never admit to trying journaling, listening to self-help books or podcasts. Reading, are you kidding me? Not only did I do all of these things AND LOVE THEM but I wrote my own book about my journey to not drink alcohol. My book Going Dry - My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking has been a life changer. I hope it will change your life too. Construction and Firefighting, as well as many other male dominant roles, need to evolve a bit. Let's get the word out and let's tell these big tough burly men that they relax a little, appreciate some self-improvement, maybe a little Brene Brown or Mel Robbins and not end up on the wall in the bathroom. There have been some amazing women in construction and firefighting as well. However, you identify, this is for all of us. My wife and kids deserved better from me. He joined me this week to tell me more. For more information: https://seanrobinson.ca/ Follow: @going.dry

Maybe the most fascinating part of this discussion, which I am not sure we came to a complete conclusion on, was why some people like Sean never figure out how to change/improve? There are so many of us that can resonate with parts of his story, but for some reason some of us never find a way out. Father, husband, Electrician, and Firefighter. Sean's whole life led him to a place full of judgment and stubbornness. Surrounded by very masculine groups and taught his whole life to suck it up and be a man, he was led to believe that it was his responsibility to fix anything that might feel out of place. After all, as children, we don't always know that the things we are taught, and the examples set for us are incorrect. How do we know that we have anything we need to fix about ourselves?Through a lifetime of questionable habits, lifestyle choices and the wrong information, Sean would not find his way out of this without trying things that he had never done before, and being someone he had never been. Deciding to take a break from drinking alcohol gave him the permission to be different and to seek more information about how he could make a better life for himself. The results: better personal health, better relationships, and better decisions.Follow Sean:WebsiteInstagramFacebookYouTubeLinkedInAmazonSupport the showMore From Melissa and Pursuing Uncomfortable:ResourcesfiLLLed Life NewsletterYouTubeLeave a reviewPursuing Uncomfortable Book

Sean is a 38 year old husband and father of three young children. He has worked as a construction electrician and as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and was certain he had become the person he was supposed to be. A bi-product of the industries he worked in, influenced by generations of tough, masculine, dominant men, it was his belief that he couldn't do anything to change it. It wasn't until he started to challenge himself to be different and to allow new things into his life that he hadn't tried before, did he find that he wasn't stuck. He could be a more positive person, a better friend, nicer to himself and leave an aging mindset behind. Sean's first step was to take a break from drinking alcohol and has described this in his new book called Going Dry - My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking. In his book, he describes how journaling became his best tool, how we think more about the things we are doing or drinking than the people around us and what worked for him to get through some of the hardest moments he would face. For more information and for the latest news, please goto Sean's website at https://seanrobinson.ca/.Thank you to BetterHelp for sponsoring this episode. In this episode of the Nobody Knows Your Story podcast, I talk with Sean Robinson. We discuss his life, his family situation, but our conversation drifts to what Sean has been doing the past couple of years. When COVID-19 shut down Canada and countries worldwide, Sean experienced a dark year. You see, Sean didn't like the way things were going for him. He'd gained a lot of weight, he found himself more irritable, and he felt that alcohol was at the root of his problems. But at the beginning of 2021, he decided to make a change. In Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking, Sean tells his story of choosing, one day and one month at a time, to carve a new lifestyle for himself. Despite growing up in a home where drinking was a normal part of life and being surrounded by constant social pressure to drink, Sean surprised himself and those around him.I think listeners will appreciate Sean's story because Sean's story will be relatable to many. At least the part where alcohol has become a bit of a problem. Midjourney and other artificially intelligent image generators are sending shock waves through the art industry as creators wonder whether they will soon be replaced by machines and whether human creativity and purpose are themselves endangered by technology. Matt Kibbe and the Free the People team are joined by artists Sean Robinson and Carson Grubaugh, who recently published the AI generated comic “The Abolition of Man,” to discuss and debate whether we should be optimistic or pessimistic about artificial intelligence's role in the creative sphere going forward. Episode 139 – Interview with Sean Robinson, author of “Going Dry”In his book, “Going Dry: My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking” – Sean talks about how examples set for him during his childhood led him to believe that he had it all figured out by the time he could legally drink.

There is a new Hamlet in town. Coming soon is a film production of the classic tragedy with a fresh perspective. It's focus is from the perspective of Horatio, the man behind the man, in the Hamlet story. This is the first production where Horatio steps from the shadows of the play to be not only a major force, but to shine light on the love and intimacy that Hamlet and Horatio share. "The film begins on an empty sound stage with the death of Hamlet. The action transpires in his last moment of awareness as the hero of Shakespeare's mostfamous play watches his life flash before him and his soul transcends. Told from the perspective of Hamlet's closest friend and confidante, Horatio, who takes on the role of film director in order to fulfill his promise to dying Hamlet to tell the story of Hamlet's life so the world will understand what has transpired in the court of Denmark." says the film's website. Today we have the film's director, award winning Paul Warner, and film editor Sean Robinson to take us behind the scenes of this classic and its more modern reinvention. Paul is an award-winning director and educator, whose more than 50 productions span film, theater, and opera. Sean is an award-winning editor, whose work has been featured nationwide at premiere venues including Toronto International Film Festival, Film Society Of Lincoln Center, and more. With co-host Brody Levesque.

Today's TDS episode is all about data and data models, and why they matter. Deciding how to model your data ahead of time can pay off down the road. It helps ensure that the people who are using the data get what they need from it, and can reduce technical debt. Data modeling is a way of mapping out and visualizing all the different places that a software or application stores information, and how these sources of data will fit together and flow into one another. This is a hugely important stage in the design process for any business-critical IT system. When developers are figuring out how a new system will work, they establish what the most pressing needs of a business are, what kind of data they'll need to access in order to meet those needs, and how the data will be used. From there, they can start to create a diagram (or model) of how each pocket of data will flow into each other, and how they'll interact.Sean Robinsonhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/seankrobinson/The Data Standardhttps://datastandard.io/https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-data-standard/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTuolowXD05RY9DkIWqRT6Q

In this podcast AJ Witt from The ITAM Review is joined by Sean Robinson from License Dashboard, Matt Fisher from SHI, and Eric Christopher from Zylo. We got together ahead of our Wisdom North America conference to discuss current trends in IT Asset Management and topics for discussion include the impact of remote working on the hardware supply chain, what the rapid growth in SaaS apps means for organisations, and how the future of SAM has changed. If 2020 was about enabling remote working and controlling costs, what's next? SaaS spending has grown over 25% in the US this year, but what does that mean for software publishers without a subscription model? And with an ongoing dynamic business environment how do we make our ITAM programs flexible and agile enough to ensure we're able to govern that environment? We close out with who we should be engaging with and how to influence key stakeholders to buy in to your IT Asset Management program.

Welcome back to Death by Champagne, the podcast here to keep you up at night! We are starting season three with a major episode, something we’ve wanted to cover for a while. This week starts our multi-part series on Gary Ridgway, better known as the Green River Killer. We end the episode in 1982 which is when our first verified GRK victim goes missing. To give you a taste of what is yet to come we dive into the very first murder attributed to Gary Ridgway. This episode contains foul language, graphic discussions about rape, murder, body sites, child and animal abuse. We’ll do our best to stay on track, but the bottles are popped! Lessons from the School of Night "I generally find that language will just open up again every time you hit a wall" — Eric Langley Sean Robinson met with Eric Langley at the Topping bookshop, before Eric's appearance at the School of Night, where he read from his first book of poetry, Raking Light. They discussed Eric's childhood holidays with J.H. Prynne, the influence of the Elizabethans on his work, and the role of the words themselves in the process of composition. Eric also read his poem 'Puncture' for us (at 26m50s). Eric Langley's first poetry collection, Raking Light, was published by Carcanet earlier this year. His work has previously appeared in New Poetries VI, Blackbox Manifold, and PN Review. Eric works in the English department at UCL, where he teaches both Renaissance and contemporary literature, and he has published scholarship on Shakespeare in a variety of contexts, particularly in relation to developments in medical and scientific thought of the period: his first academic monograph is Narcissism and Suicide in Shakespeare and His Contemporaries (OUP, 2009), and he is in the final stages of a second book to be called Ill Communications: Shakespeare' Contagious Sympathies. He was born in the Midlands, went to university in Leeds, lived in St Andrews, and has now settled in London. Sean Robinson is studying for an MFA in poetry writing at St. Andrews under Don Paterson. An erstwhile policy wonk, he graduated in 2013 from Oxford with a bachelors in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and worked for some time with the Civil Service, until deciding to chuck it all in to do something useful, and write poems. He is from London. Lessons from the School of Night are an irregular series of video or audio interviews and tips from poets and writers who visit St Andrews. The School of Night – inspired by the group which included Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh – is Topping & Company Booksellers' Year-Round Poetry Festival in St Andrews. Curated with the help of Don Paterson and playing host to poets as varied as Paul Muldoon and Lorraine Mariner, Simon Armitage and Annie Freud, it is anchored to a regular fixture on the last Tuesday of the month. The School of Night offers the chance to explore and discuss the work of some of the best poets on the contemporary scene. It's not so much about imagery or language as it is about longing for that human connection. It's imagining yourself into another life in order to connect with it and be less isolated. And that is the case in my poetry as well - imagination is a way of reaching other people. — Polly Clark Sean Robinson met with Polly Clark at Toppings bookshop, after her appearance at the School of Night, where she read from her novel Larchfield. They discussed the difference between writing a novel and writing a poem, as well as the roles of imagination and location in the writing process. Polly also read her poem 'Heaven' (at 14m55s). Polly Clark was born in Toronto and lives in Helensburgh on Scotland’s west coast, close to where W.H. Auden wrote The Orators. She is Literature Programme Producer for Cove Park, Scotland’s International Artist Residency Centre, and the author of three poetry collections. She won the MsLexia Prize for Larchfield, the Eric Gregory Award, and has been shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. Larchfield will be published by Quercus under their riverrun imprint March 2017. Her pamphlet A Handbook for the Afterlife was shortlisted in the 2016 Michael Marks Awards and a volume of New and Selected Poems, Afterlife, is due in 2018. For more details on these and other events, please visit the Topping & Company website. Photo Credit: Johnny Adolphson, http://johnny-adolphson.pixels.com/
