Fr. Derreck Da Cruz, C.Ss.R., and Fr. Vimal Tirimanna, C.Ss.R., explains that the Just War doctrine is not a justification for violence, but rather a framework intended to limit, control, and humanize the effects of war in a sinful world. It is concluded that true peace requires the strengthening of international authorities to prevent the bullying of nations and protect innocent lives, emphasizing that no war can ever be considered truly "just."

Featuring historical and theological commentary from Joe Boot and others, the documentary confronts counterfeit holiness in both secular activism and charismatic revivalism, and calls Christians to fight a holy war with the weapons God has actually given them: his Word, his Spirit, and his people. Holy Wars — Show Notes: Fight Laugh Feast Documentary In this Fight Laugh Feast documentary, CrossPolitic traces the inescapable question of holiness from Moses at the burning bush through the Great Awakenings, the Crusades, and into the present culture war — arguing that holiness is not private sentiment but public, world-transforming fire. Artificial intelligence is transforming society at unprecedented speed, but is humanity becoming wiser as it becomes more powerful? Drawing on Pope Leo's reflections, Catholic Social Teaching, and the Just War tradition, this programme explores the difference between knowledge and wisdom, the moral challenges posed by AI, and why human dignity must remain at the centre […] L'articolo Science, Religion, and the Modern World – AI and Moral Wisdom: What Catholic Teaching Says About Machines & War – Michael Flanagan and Gerard McReavy proviene da Radio Maria.
I interview Canadian political scientist Daniel A. Bell (University of Hong Kong) about his latest book Why Ancient Chinese Political Thought Matters and how Chinese political theory broadens a West-centric Anglophone canon. Bell explains major pre-unification traditions—Confucianism (graded love, harmony, ritual, soft power, political meritocracy), Legalism (state-strengthening through uniform, ruthless law and fear), Mohism (populist focus on material welfare and opposition to state-funded ritual/music), and Taoism (skepticism of social engineering and preference for limited state action)—and notes their modern revival after 20th-century anti-traditionalism and the Cultural Revolution. We discuss timeless debates on corruption, family law, culture funding, just war, and idealism vs. realism (including Xunzi vs. Legalists), Bell's argument in The China Model for legitimate variation beyond "one person, one vote," sources of legitimacy in China, Xi's role versus structural pressures, and the need for more people-to-people engagement to reduce demonization and improve US–China understanding.(02:43) West Centric Theory(04:29) Writing The Book(05:59) Schools Of Thought(06:49) Confucians Explained(08:35) Legalists And Power(10:07) Mohists And Populism(10:56) Taoism And Withdrawal(11:56) Ancient Debates Today(15:08) Idealism Versus Realism(18:49) Confucianism Endures(23:02) Traditions In The 1900s(29:29) Lessons For Western Leaders(30:18) Ritual Music And Order(31:40) Just War And Intervention(32:55) Harmony Not Conformity(33:56) Confucian Harmony Not Sameness(35:44) Just War and Tyranny(37:04) Questioning One Person One Vote(39:17) Why Meritocracy Fits China(43:03) Cultural Fit and Export Failures(46:42) Western Thinkers in China(48:03) Censorship and Reform Prospects(49:38) Xi Versus Structural Forces(52:54) Legitimacy Performance and Trust(56:03) Taiwan Prosperity and AI Optimism(58:30) More Participation Not Elections(59:46) Meritocracy Weak Spots and DialogueRead Daniel A. Joe reviews the backlash against the Just War portion of Pope Leo’s “Magnifica Humanitas.” Transcript: Joe: Welcome back to Shameless Popery. I’m Joe Heschmeyer and I want to talk about the fight over just war that’s being fought right now in the aftermath of Pope Leo’s new and cyclical. I want to start with a little bit of context. On Memorial Day, Pope Leo released Magnifica Humanitas on safeguarding the human person and the time of artificial intelligence. It’s being called the popes uncyclical on AI, but that’s a little bit like Calling Rarem...
Is war ever morally justified? Can Christians support military action while still following the teachings of Jesus? In this episode of Apostolic Life in the 21st Century, Dr. David K. Bernard examines the historic doctrine of “just war” and explores what the Bible teaches about warfare, national defense, and the use of force.Prompted by current global conflicts and the reflection that often accompanies Memorial Day, this conversation addresses questions Christians have wrestled with for centuries. Drawing from Scripture, church history, and Christian ethics, Dr. Bernard explains just war theory, the principles traditionally used to evaluate whether a war is morally justified, and how believers should think biblically about patriotism, military service, and international conflict.Topics discussed in this episode include:The fundamentals of just war doctrineWhether the Bible allows for war in certain circumstancesThe role of government in maintaining justice and orderHow Christians should approach modern military conflictsThe tension between personal forgiveness and national defenseWhether you are exploring Christian ethics, seeking a biblical perspective on current events, or simply wanting to better understand this important subject, this episode offers thoughtful and balanced insight from an Apostolic perspective.Apostolic Life in the 21st Century with Dr. David K. OA1256 - Will there ever be a draft again? Who knows. But if there is, what does one have to do to claim "conscientious objector” status? During the Vietnam War, the Supreme Court grappled with how to apply that explicitly religious statutory exemption to people whose modern beliefs don't seem to fit the religious mold that Congress defined in the 40s. Jenessa walks us through the court's mental gymnastics to avoid ever admitting that anyone could be an atheist, and the concurrence that calls it out. "Nothing is lost by peace. Everything may be lost by war." Pope Leo XIV's Vigil for Peace, just war theory, and the Artemis II lunar mission — Lindsay Sant, Caroline Knight, and Lino Saubolle cover it all. The post Pope Leo, Just War and Artemis II appeared first on StarQuest Media.

Once more we take up religion and politics, this time a conversation about President Donald Trump's attacks on Pope Leo XIV—the first successor of St. Peter from the United States—mostly, though not only, over the pope's pleas for peace as Trump rages war against Iran. Why is the incredibly unpopular Trump going after the beloved pontiff? Why does Trump's Catholic vice president, J.D. Vance, argue that Leo should stay out of politics and stick to morality, as if politics was not irreducibly a moral enterprise? Who is Pope Leo, and what seem to be his priorities for his papacy? How to make sense over the arguments about just-war theory that Leo's various statements about war and peace—notably, that God does not hear the prayers of those who wage war—have generated? We answer all these questions, and more! After Pope Leo's recent criticisms of the war, the response from Washington has been nothing short of "erratic." From J.D. Vance telling the Pontiff to be "careful" when discussing theology to Speaker Mike Johnson claiming the "Just War Doctrine" is a settled political matter, the lines between Church and State are getting dangerously blurry. Michael Steele gives a masterclass in moral clarity and breaks down the actual Catechism of the Catholic Church to see if this conflict actually meets the criteria for a "Just War."Catch Michael Steele on The Weeknight Mondays - Fridays at 7pm EST on MSNBC: https://www.msnbc.com/weeknightFollow Michael on X: https://x.com/MichaelSteeleFollow Michael on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/michaelsteele.bsky.socialFollow Michael on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chairman_steele/Follow Michael on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@chairman_steeleListen to The Michael Steele Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-michael-steele-podcast/id1412905534Watch The Michael Steele Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJNKzTkCZE9uNqPiKYw5eU5YkS_mMsr6oIf you enjoyed this, share it with a friend!
John's monologue dives into a mixed bag of stories. After dozens of states sued Ticketmaster and Live Nation - a jury has found that they had an anticompetitive monopoly over big concert venues. Also, Republicans in the Senate have again blocked an effort to advance a bill reigning in Donald Trump's power to make war in Iran. AND - Trump posted another AI image, this time WITH Jesus canoodling in reverent prayer. Plus, JD Vance went on to mansplain the "Just War" theory to the Pope. Then, John speaks with Democracy Forward President and CEO Skye Perryman. Democracy Forward filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to compel the release of records related to the agency's communications and activities concerning election administration, including potential efforts to restrict voting access and reported coordination with individuals and groups associated with election denial. This lawsuit comes as the Trump-Vance administration has continued efforts to threaten states, intimidate election officials, and call into question the integrity of voting systems ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Next, The God Squad returns. Desimber Rose and Dillon Naber Cruz talk about religious wars and why isn't not cool to fight with the Pope. And lastly, legal analyst Dr. Tracy Pearson joins the crew to debate the legalities of the war in Iran and other current events.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

TRUMP CALLED THE POPE WEAK ON CRIME. POSTED HIMSELF AS JESUS CHRIST. DELETED IT BY MORNING. AND HIS SPIRITUAL ADVISER ASKED CHRISTIANS TO VENMO HER TEN PERCENT OF THEIR INCOME. ALL IN THE SAME WEEKEND. The media wants you to think this is a story about a president attacking a peaceful holy man for no reason. It is not. Pope Leo XIV -- the first American-born pope in history, from Chicago, Illinois -- has spent months wading deeper into American domestic politics, culminating in urging American citizens to call their Congress members and oppose their own president's foreign policy. A foreign head of state. Lobbying American voters. Against their own government. Trump called it what it is. Today we back him up. Plus -- Sabrina Carpenter headlined Coachella, got called Islamophobic for not recognizing a sound she'd never heard in her life, and the internet convicted her before she finished her piano set. The history behind that sound is more interesting than anything the mob has to say about it.
Patrick answers questions about prevenient grace, papal infallibility’s roots, and the risks of helping someone deep in the occult. A listener’s religious dilemma triggers Patrick’s memory of rejecting easy money when his conscience raised alarms, a moment that later seemed almost prophetic. In between sharp takes on just war, Divine Mercy Sunday, and Bible picks, Patrick moves through listeners’ anxieties and clarity-seeking, never letting ideas settle too quietly. Anna - Does prevenient grace precede all other graces? (00:29) John - I heard that infallibility was like a guard rail. Is this true? Were there any Pope's that made doctrinal errors? (06:44) Zach - I work for a moving company and we are working with someone who is satanic in their practices. What can we do? Should we cancel the job? (13:24) Patrick shares a story from 1998 when he refused a large and needed sum of money because it would have been morally wrong and how it ended up being a very good decision (20:04) Terry - I understand that you need to go to Confession to receive Communion for Divine Mercy Sunday. Do I need to go exactly on Sunday? (29:40) Richard - The War in Iran seems to be set up as Pope vs Trump, but that doesn't matter. I think the main thing is that whether the Iran War is a Just War or not. Does it actually meet the Just War criteria? (32:00) Here's the APOSTOLIC PENITENTIARY Decree that just shared on the show: Indulgences attached to devotions in honor of Divine Mercy https://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/tribunals/apost_penit/documents/rc_trib_appen_doc_20020629_decree-ii_en.html June – I think Pope Leo is concerned more about peace in general. (43:43)
