December 17, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 65 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers. We discuss the recent transactions made by the Steelers in addition to the team bringing in quite a few players for visits on Tuesday and the likely reasons for that. Former Steelers WR Ke'Shawn Williams was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday, so we make sure to hit on that little nugget of news as well. Either the Steelers or the Baltimore Ravens will win the AFC North division this year and on top of that, neither team is likely to make the playoffs as a Wild Card team. Because of all that, and based on what may or may not happen in Week 16, Alex and I wonder if there could be a situation where either the Steelers or the Ravens, or even both teams, wind up resting players in Week 17 in preparation for a winner-take-all game against each other in Week 18. After poor and inconclusive discussion about potential scenarios in Week 17, Alex and I began our weekly recap of the all-22 tape of the Steelers' last game, the Monday night win against the Miami Dolphins. We start on the offensive side of the football for the Steelers and spend a lot of time discussing the play of T Dylan Cook against the Dolphins. We go over the other good, bad and ugly related to the Monday night offensive all-22 tape. After thoroughly discussing the offensive tape from Week 15, Alex and I then do the same when it comes to the defensive side of the football. We discuss the Steelers defense shutting down the Dolphins' running game on Monday night and how the unit went about limiting the Miami passing game for most of the game as well. Are the Steelers currently a team that could make some noise in the playoffs this year, assuming they indeed do wind up making the postseason tournament? Alex and address that question after we are finished discussing the Monday win against the Dolphins. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted and we wrap things up by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Hour 2 dives into the Dolphins' quarterback dilemma, exploring what the team would do if they move on from Tua Tagovailoa. Dave Hyde argues Zach Wilson should get the first shot, while Joe emphasizes how much the organization has done to support Tua, praising Mike McDaniel's creativity and leadership in maintaining locker-room accountability. Hyde also questions whether Tua's approach—protecting his health over pushing in key moments—fits the NFL mold, summing up his tenure in Miami as “a rough six years.” The segment also touches on high school football highlights, including state titles for Palm Beach County and American Heritage Plantation, and previews the Miami Hurricanes' playoff matchup at Texas A&M.

SHOW NOTES: On this show…we're stepping back, not because we're tired or unmotivated, but because sometimes you have to widen the frame to see the whole picture to give yourself credit while you look ahead. Have you ever been so focused on the next thing, the next goal, the next improvement, that you completely missed everything you've already done? It's easy to do. Especially at the end of a year when life feels like a conveyor belt that never stops moving. One month folds into the next, and before you know it, you're flipping a calendar and wondering, “Wait… did I actually make any progress this year?” Some people are wired to always look ahead. They're scanning the horizon, thinking about what's next, what hasn't happened yet, what they still need to check off the list. And while that drive can be motivating, it can also leave you feeling perpetually behind. Like, no matter what you do, it's never quite enough. Other people look back on a year and think, “Well… nothing big happened,” and use that as evidence that they somehow fell short. But what if the “big thing” wasn't the point at all? What if the beauty of your year was tucked into the smaller details, the things you barely noticed while they were happening? That's what I want to explore today. Because as the world moves faster and faster, it can trick you into believing that if you don't move at the same speed, you're somehow failing. But that's not reality, that's just noise. The truth is, you've done so much more than you think. You've shown up in ways that mattered. You've grown in ways you didn't track. You've found clarity, endurance, compassion, and creativity in the spaces between the big milestones. So on this show, let's take some time to take stock. Let's give ourselves credit, real credit, for what this past year brought and who we became along the way. And then, with a grounded sense of gratitude, we'll talk about how to set goals for next year from a place of clarity and confidence, not pressure or comparison. CHALLENGE: Carve out intentional space and take stock of everything your life holds. Pull out the moments you forgot, honor the quiet work you did, and give yourself the credit you've earned. Then, with that full picture in mind, step into the new year with clarity, confidence, and compassion for the person you are becoming. I Know YOU Can Do It!

December stirs up a mix of emotions. For some, it brings warmth, celebration, and anticipation — a month full of Christmas lights, gatherings, and meaningful traditions. For others, it surfaces the ache of unfulfilled expectations, difficult memories, or the heaviness of a year that didn’t unfold as hoped. Regardless of how we enter the final month of the year, Scripture reminds us that God offers hope, joy, and peace to every heart that trusts Him. Preparing for December isn’t about forcing ourselves to feel a certain way — it’s about positioning our hearts to receive what God desires to pour into us. Lynette Kittle outlines five simple, biblical ways to prepare your heart for this new month: 1. Count Your BlessingsEven in a year marked by difficulty, God’s hand has carried you here. Remembering His faithfulness builds confidence for the month ahead. 2. Look Ahead with HopeHope is a spiritual posture. We don’t have to see what’s coming to trust the One who holds the future. 3. Feed on God’s WordDecember can be busy or emotionally draining; God’s Word is the nourishment that sustains you through both. 4. Open Your HandsGod fills what is surrendered. Whether your hands feel full or painfully empty, He invites you to receive His goodness. 5. Ask God for His JoyObedience keeps us close to the Father, and closeness leads to joy — a deep, sustaining joy that doesn’t depend on circumstances. However you are entering December — hopeful, tired, grieving, or joyful — God promises to meet you where you are. He offers His hope, His peace, His presence, and His unchanging love as you step into the days ahead. Bible Reading:“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13 Takeaway Truths December may bring both joy and sorrow, but God meets us in every emotion. Gratitude helps us recognize God’s faithfulness throughout the year. Hope grows as we trust God for what we cannot see. Spiritual nourishment prepares us for both celebration and hardship. God fills open, surrendered hands with His goodness. True joy comes from walking in God’s love and obedience. Let's Pray Dear Father, As we prepare our hearts for December, bring to mind the blessings You’ve given us throughout this past year. Help us remember Your faithful care and protection. Strengthen our faith to look ahead with hope, trusting that You are already present in every day to come. Give us a hunger for Your Word that we might grow stronger spiritually and more rooted in Your truth. Teach us to open our hands before You. When our hands are full, help us lay down what doesn’t matter. When our hands are clenched in disappointment or fear, gently open them so we can receive Your goodness. Fill us with Your joy — a joy that is complete, steady, and rooted in Your love. In Jesus’ name,Amen.
