(Side note: can we please get Timothy Caulfield, advocate of this perspective, on the show?)Here's the thing: your body is one of a kind! This is the tell all episode on how YOU can get Jennifer Aniston's body.Spoiler, it's actually not the hot tips and secret advice you're thinking. It's actually pretty standard, boring, fitness advice. "I drink a lot of water, move my body daily, try to eat whole, fresh foods, and get as much sleep as I can." - Jennifer Aniston, People MagazineWOAH earth shattering stuff. Am I right? Props to her, though, for not using her platform to tout some unattainable regimen and keeping it realistic. Look, wanting to look like a stunning celebrity, I get it. But wanting nutrition, fitness, and beauty advice from a naturally beautiful person…well it's kind of ironic, to say the least. (Please hear my plea to get THE Timothy Caulfield, who's an advocate for this school of thought, on the show!!)Here's the thing…You are you! The only one. Your body is the only one of its kind to have ever existed!!! Why would you wanna trade it for someone else's????Because no matter how great you are at Jen's 4 basic tips for her hot bod….you'll never have HER hot bod. You'll have your hot bod. What's Inside:Jennifer Anniston's 4 tips to a hot bod.Celebrating your body!Should you trust celebrity beauty advice? Are those the 4 tips you thought you'd hear? Are you disappointed they aren't what you thought? What does Jennifer Anniston do differently than YOU and what are you going to do about it? She stated that after the Me Too movement highlighted routine sexual harassment and misconduct in the media industry, the film's story of "a group of powerful men sacrificing a girl's body on the altar of their own professional advancement" became "uncomfortably familiar." This, according to Grady, allowed viewers to see the film, rather than as a sex fantasy, as a revenge fantasy as Jennifer uses her abused body against her attackers. According to the screenwriter, Diablo Cody, the film was marketed "all wrong". She had argued with executives who wanted "to market this to boys who like Megan Fox. That's who's going to see it. And I was like. No! This is a movie for girls too! That audience, they did not attempt to reach." In a 2022 essay on its status as a classic queer and bisexual film, Carmen Maria Machado wrote that Jennifer's Body speaks to "what it means to experience parallel sexualities with your best friend as you punch through the last vestiges of childhood." Machado rejects accusations that the film is guilty of queerbaiting, considering it instead an effective depiction of the "central body of water that is bisexuality" which many queer people spend at least some of their life in. #jennifersbody #meganfox #amandaseyfried #revenge #vampire #demon #nellyfurtado #maneater #horror #movie #death #horrorfilm #splatter #deathscene #blood #gore #scarymovie #horror #completeguidetohorror #horrormovie #scary #creepy #graphic

In the final episode for our Horror Comedy month, we are looking at Jennifers Body from 2009. This is a really good episode, as we pull back the curtain on a deeply misunderstood & underappreciated film. CW/TW for the episode: Rape, Sexual Assualt, Trauma. We get into the production of the film & what was missing in the final product. We talk about the real themes of the film and the messages it's trying to get across. Was this film ahead of its time? and how would it be viewed if made today. We tackle how harrowing aspects of the film are if you really break them down and how this is a really important film from a female perspective. Leigh gives her thoughts on how it handles some of the more important subjects in the film and whether they are portrayed correctly. We also get into the characters, script, humour and why we think some people would have a hard time with it. All of this and a lot more in this episode. Shownotes:https://www.dropbox.com/s/oehw36166y5io0p/%236%20Trash%20Shownotes.docx?dl=0

We covered Jennifer's Body this week to celebrate a whole year of ‘Bitch, Why?'! We start out listing all the amazing songs that have come out recently and have a moment solely dedicated to discussing Princess Diana. Neeta and Gaia get into everything Jennifer's Body from Megan Fox's career to unrealistic dialogue to gay awakenings (ladies really be KISSING in this movie) to how girls struggle with having a personal relationship with sex! We absolutely gush over this movie and how it is so rich with metaphor that it is just asking to be overanalyzed. We debate whether or not this movie would actually 'kill' today or if we all needed 10 years to really get it. We also, of course, end up comparing this movie to Miss Rodrigo's ‘Sour ' and so much more this week, on "Bitch, Why?". What goes bump in the night giving Kyle a fright? This week it's Jennifer's Body (2009) directed by Karyn Kusama. A demonic cheerleader feasts on her high school in this horror-comedy headlined by Megan Fox. Is that the same guy from Gilmore Girls? Is Mat stealing our ideas? Is this film Twilight for boys? Jenny don't change that number as the Boo Boys break it all down.
Our first installment to our DEMON POSSESSION SERIES!!!! That's right. We did slasher movies for HIS birth month. And for Hers? The warm and fuzzy stories of demon possession. So for our last episode of Pride we get to reclaim Jennifer's Body. A film that has been resurrected much like Jennifer herself and achieved cult status over the years. It follows the path of a friendship that is severely tested by demon possession, but along the way shows the strength of the bonds formed between young women and the hell of being a teenaged girl. It's our 50th episode of Mixed Bag! And for our 50th we thought, what the hell! Let's do another film that's been on our list for a while. Jennifer's Body (2009). Directed by Karyn Kusama, written by Diablo Cody and starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, this horror comedy was slammed on released and has since been reappraised. Is it the lesbian text we've all been craving or is this body dead on arrival? Join Matt, Cass and James for the autopsy on the very special 50th Mixed Bag.

Join us as we discuss catharsis, rage, and subversion, teasing out our confusion (and some rage of our own) through a healthy dose of critical theory.
