While most reports of missing or abducted children are resolved within hours, many involve situations where a child goes missing permanently or for an extended period of time. Erica's parents are divorced and she spent most of February 7, 1999 with her father, Greg Baker, in their hometown of Kettering, Ohio. Erica was apparently upset that Greg had forgotten to purchase tickets to an upcoming father/daughter dance, but her father said she settled down shortly thereafter. Greg dropped Erica off at the home she shared with her mother, Melissa "Misty" Baker, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Photos of Greg and Misty are posted with this case summary.Erica received permission from Misty to take her aunt's Shih Tzu dog for a walk in Indian Riffle Park, which was close to her family's residence. Erica left the house sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. Two witnesses saw her sitting on a bench with the dog near the park's pond shortly after 4:00 p.m. She has never been seen again. The dog, dragging its blue leash, ran unaccompanied to the witnesses sometime after Erica was last seen. They called Animal Control to pick up the dog, but didn't realize the girl they had seen earlier was Erica until news reports of her disappearance surfaced later that night.Misty became concerned when Erica failed to return home later in the evening and summoned the authorities. An extensive search of the area produced no clues as to Erica's whereabouts. A pink Winnie The Pooh sweatshirt was discovered on a road in Germantown, Ohio several days after Erica disappeared. Bloodhounds reacted positively to Erica's scent on the clothing, but her family said the shirt did not belong to her.Investigators would like to identify and question a two possible witnesses who were seen in the area around the same time Erica was last seen. The first is a Caucasian female jogger, who was wearing a white turtleneck, black stretch pants and white sneakers. The other is a middle-aged white man who was wearing a black raincoat and walking a long-haired spaniel type dog.Greg and Misty passed polygraph tests and are not suspects in their daughter's case. Authorities said that they identified four possible suspects in January 2000, five months after Erica was last seen. None of the suspects have been charged due to a lack of evidence. According to investigators, several of the men have histories of child molestation.Support the show (https://pod.fan/have-you-seen-me-the-missing-chronicles)

Sarah Kinslow, from Greenville, Texas, disappeared when she was just fourteen years old. On the morning of May 1, 2001, Sarah was dropped off at school, which was the last time her family ever saw her. At the end of the school day, her parents were notified that she had not attended any of her classes. After speaking to her friends to try and figure out where Kinslow went, they told her that she was supposed to skip school that day to meet them at the East Mount Cemetery to hang out, but that she never showed. Worried, this is when her mother notified the police. During the initial search, police gave a tracker dog a piece of her clothing to pick up a scent. Her scent was found where her father dropped her off at school and her scent created a trail around the school and down two blocks, where her scent suddenly stopped in the middle of the street. Police believe this is where she may have gotten into a car and left. A teen witness claimed that they saw her in a light blue truck driven by a white male with dark brown hair and a pencil mustache at 3:30 p.m. that day. Although only fourteen at the time, Sarah was in a relationship with an 18-year-old male, of whom her parents did not approve. Curtis Wayne Bell, her boyfriend at the time, was a resident of Quinlan, Texas, and was one of the people she was supposed to meet the day that she went missing. After her disappearance, police discovered that the two had been sexually involved, and although the couple might have considered it consensual, she was not of age to give consent. Her diary contained entries that explained her love for Bell and how she wished to run away with him. According to her mother, she was not prepared to be gone for an extended period as she didn't take her purse or any of her belongings and had never run away before. Many of her friends failed polygraph tests regarding her disappearance.Support the show (https://pod.fan/have-you-seen-me-the-missing-chronicles)

Etan Kalil Patz (/ˈeɪtɑːn ˈpeɪts/; October 9, 1972 – May 25, 1979) was an American boy who was six years old on May 25, 1979, when he disappeared on his way to his school bus stop in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. His disappearance helped launch the missing children movement, which included new legislation and new methods for tracking down missing children. Several years after he disappeared, Patz was one of the first children to be profiled on the "photo on a milk carton" campaigns of the early 1980s. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan designated May 25—the anniversary of Etan's disappearance—as National Missing Children's Day in the United States.Decades later, it was determined that Patz had been abducted and murdered the same day that he went missing. The case was reopened in 2010 by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. In 2012, the FBI excavated the basement of the alleged crime scene near the Patz residence but discovered no new evidence. Pedro Hernandez—a suspect who confessed—was charged and indicted later that year on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. In 2014, the case went through a series of hearings to determine whether or not Hernandez's statements before he received his Miranda rights were legally admissible at trial. His trial began in January 2015 and it ended with a mistrial that May, when 1 of the 12 jurors held out. The retrial began on October 19, 2016, and it was concluded on February 14, 2017, after nine days of deliberations, when the jury found Hernandez guilty of murder and kidnapping. Hernandez was sentenced to 25-years-to-life in prison on April 18, 2017. Hernandez will not be eligible for parole for 25 years.[4]Support the show (https://pod.fan/have-you-seen-me-the-missing-chronicles)
