In today's Gospel, Jesus reaches out with care to those He was surrounded by. How are we as the body of Christ today showing His care to the communities in which we work, live and play?
You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy” but Jesus teaches us another way. He says, “I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” He gives us His Holy Spirit, so we can love others as He loves us.
Jesus did more than just try to re-direct lives. Jesus CHANGED lives. He still does today! Make note of who He changed in the reading from Luke today and then ask yourself: “how has Jesus changed me?”
Led by the Spirit, Jesus faced Satan head on. What is the Spirit leading you through?
Jesus’ genealogy shows us how He is the Son of God and the Son of Man. He has to be both to ensure our salvation. Through His death and resurrection, He invites us to be a part of His family.
Got everything cleaned up and put away from Christmas yet so that you are ready for Easter? John was sent to clean house for Jesus’ coming. What does that mean for us today?
Luke summarizes Jesus’ childhood with 14 verses to give us the message Jesus is Immanuel, which means God with us. If God is with us, He is for us. And if He is for us, who can be against us?

We live in a world where people may be skeptical of that there was a God-man named Jesus who died and rose from the dead but we can show them a community with love for one another they want in their lives. Esther is a unique book of the Bible, where God doesn’t speak and isn’t mentioned. Yet, God’s love for His people is seen throughout the book. God repeatedly sent His messengers to warn His people. They didn’t listen. He sent invading armies to conquer their cities and carry His people into exile. The Miracles of Lent show us we need godly intervention. One things teaches this need more than anything else: death. We instinctually recoil from death. Even when we wouldn’t, God does whatever it takes to save us from death, even sacrificing His only Son, Jesus. Our Good Friday message.
Jesus’ final act before he was arrested and crucified was to give us Himself for our forgiveness. He gives us His body and blood in the bread and the wine, shared with his disciples that night, and with every faithful person who follows Him. Our Maundy Thursday message.

David is raised from shepherd boy to King of Israel. Throughout his life he faces many dangers, but the ones which are always most dangerous came from inside of him. What separates you from God? In the Israelite temple, there was a curtain which was 60-feet tall and six inches thick. It stood as physical representation of the spiritual separation of our Sin. When Jesus was crucified, the temple curtain which separated God from His people was torn in two! In Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, there is nothing which keeps you from God.

Our goal for this sermon series has been to read the Bible. That’s exactly what we did with week 9 of “The Story” sermon series. God works in the regular and mundane. There are no miracles, angels, divine revelation. God prepares Naomi, Ruth and Boaz for the good works they do in faith. There’s suffering, sacrifice and deliverance, all pointing to our savior Jesus.
